Seriously, it is a pretty good umbrella, as Totes usually are. I keep one in my bag for commuting and use it occasionally, but I have had to replace it every couple of years. I do not use it very often or for long periods of time, but it has failed. A good breeze will easily flip it inside out and it wont be long until one of the frame arms bend/break. For the money, I just keep buying new ones, as needed.

Great so far. I like that it looks pretty good, opens and closes with a button (but you of course need to pull the stem down after you press the button since the button just collapses the umbrella cloth so the umbrella goes from mushroom to a vertical stem), and covers a bigger area. So far for some moderate wind, its been okay. Quality of the metal doesnt look to be as good, but overall the umbrella seems to meet my major criteria of a compact yet pretty robust and wide umbrella to protect my clothes from getting wet.

I love this umbrella, I have three of these. The span of the umbrella is perfect; its big enough where Im covered even when its a down pour, but small enough where I dont feel like I have to constantly adjust for other pedestrians in NYC. The auto open and close feature makes this umbrella so easy to handle. The only thing that could improve this umbrella is if it had that extra wind resistant layer on top.

Great umbrella. Its small enough to throw into my purse when its closed but then big enough to cover two people when open.

It isn’t exactly golf size as it was advertised so I was a bit surprised. It’s a good umbrella, but it said golf sized. Instead this is a good smallish umbrella that is portable and easy to store in your car. If you’re ant a golf size umbrella, you need to buy one and the type that’s the size of a cane.

I once had a Totes-branded golf-sized stick umbrella long ago. I loved the coverage that offered plus the auto-open/close; I wanted something similar. I was surprised to find folding golf umbrellas. I took the plunge with this one. As of this writing, Ive had it for over a full year. I keep this umbrella on my daily backpack. Slips into the side pocket without standing out too much. Plenty of coverage when opened. One hand operation is very useful when entering/exiting trains, buses, or buildings. However, I have to be careful in heavy winds around here. This umbrella has flipped on me several times. Each time that happened, I find myself with a section of it ripped loose from its rib at a folding point. The canopy is attached there with basic thread. The thread just breaks with stress of being flipped open. Ive had to repair two breaks. A third is still extant because there is no residual thread for me to tie back. (I think this was a previous break, so that might be why the thread is completely gone.) If I could without affecting the integrity of the canopy (i.e. put holes in it thatll let water through), Id reinforce/replace the threads with something stronger, like a couple of loops of fishing line or some Kevlar threads. For the cost, I expected a bit more resiliency in the materials. Still, even with this problem, I find this umbrella quite useful. I just have to be a bit careful when rolling it up for storage. Everything else is working fine. On the flip-side (pun not intended), Ill be looking at the Titan-series umbrellas if/when I need to replace this one in the future.

This is a large umbrella. It folds very compactly for its size. The design is well thought out. The handle is relatively comfortable to hold, and the auto open auto close feature is extremely useful. This feature means that you press the button once to open the umbrella, like any spring-loaded umbrella, but pressing the button again collapses the umbrella automatically as you get into a car or pass through a doorway. Once you are inside and dry, you can simply compress the telescoping component and it is ready for use again. Well worth the cost, this umbrella has yet to give me a reason to wish I had bought any other.

Nothing like a totes umbrella. I found they are long lasting & sturdy on a regular rainy day. It did flip inside out in a windy rainstorm, BUT it didnt break in any way. I flipped it back down without issue. I have another totes umbrella that Ive had for 10 years! Its a little dirty, but still works perfectly. Push the button to open & push the button to close. This works great if your other hand is full.

You are probably looking at this review and thinking what is this guy saying in the title protects me from rain? Of course it does its an umbrella! Well let me explain. Any Umbrella Ive ever bought from my local Walmart has never lasted more than a day. Seriously? We live in 2020 learn how to make a damn umbrella. So last week before I had this Totes Umbrella I was left with a broken one so I had to walk into work fully soaked and unprotected from the rain. Therefore I had to specifically mention that Totes lives up to their name and this umbrella definitely does its job and protects me from rain.

2021 update: The umbrella is still incredible. No bends, no fraying, no rips. The open close mechanism works smoothly even after 2 years. The handle material is not holding up well though. I store it indoors with normal temperatures, I dont think it has even been left in a hot car once, but for some reason the handle is deteriorating. It is sticky with a very noticeable residue left on the hand afterwards and it has collected lint and dirt that cant be cleaned off. It seems like a bad batch of plastic/rubber to me, and if the umbrella wasnt so great Id probably replace it just to not have to deal with the handle. Original review: Im 63, I bought this umbrella to replace an older version of this same model by Totes, the one Im replacing lasted for almost 5 years before I broke one of the rivets folding it up. Ive had a few dozen umbrellas and almost every one of them was too small to keep my legs dry while walking in the rain. This Totes umbrella folds down to about the same size as a normal umbrella, but it has a MUCH larger diameter which lets me take full strides while walking without my feet and legs getting wet from the rain and dripping off the edges of the umbrella. It also does a great job keeping my backpack dry as the bag is entirely under the umbrella so rain doesnt drip down the edges of the umbrella onto the bag.
