VAULTEK Essential Series Quick Access Portable Safe Auto Open Lid Quick-release Security Cable Rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery (VE10 (Sub-Compact Safe))

We needed two safes for our night stands, and after a fair amount of research, decided to choose the Vaultek VE10 safe. My wife and I are very satisfied with these safes. They fit in our night stand drawers, have an interior light, and most importantly, keep our personal protection firearms locked away from small hands or curious (nosy) teens/potentially rude house guests. The safes can be opened with a manual key if the battery dies/fails, and the key-pad lights up when the sensor on front of the safe detects your hand movement. In our case, there is enough room to hold a Glock 23, spare magazine, and small flash light. The safes battery is a standard Li-Ion 1836 battery (easily replaced if/when it dies). The batteries have held a charge since February 2018, even performing regular access checks. The interior light is bright enough to see what you need to grab, and there are no tell-tale key beeps if you want/need to remain quiet. The safe is easily portable, if you choose not to mount it with screws to your furniture, so you could use it on the road at hotels or campers, etc. I would/will buy more of these if required and I already recommend them to friends/family.

Searched high and low for a safe small enough to travel with and large enough to hold our EDC weapons. Wanted something quick access that would keep kids (and family) from our guns. Fits a Glock 48 and 43X with the holsters. No room for extra mags when two guns are in there. Nice packaging and easy to follow instructions. Battery is the 18650 type found in some flashlights and vapes. You can charge the battery separate or through the safe with the included micro USB cord. The cord is 3ft and braided. Great attention to detail for all the parts. Only part I don’t like are the buttons. They are a little sloppy compared to my AmazonBasics handgun safe. The buttons are hard plastic and not rubberized. However the buttons light up when your finger gets close. Overall very pleased.

The VE20 has a slightly larger interior overall than the VE10. Full size pistols fit best in the VE20. Its a nice smooth operating and sturdy safe with good padding, dual latches and 2 interior holes to screw/bolt down. Its not made in USA, does not come with an AC Charger and the VE20 would have been best to have a 0-6 key pad for the price point! This is where I give the VE20 4 Stars. Overall, I gave the VE20 a 5 Star review for quality and function. Ill see how it holds up in the long run.

So far so good. If you type in the code super fast it won’t read but other than that it holds my Glock 23 and 2nd mag easily.

I am a 22yr veteran of Law Enforcement and know the value of having secure storage with immediate access necessity for home defense. This holds my two full sized handguns with four mags no problem. Highly recommend to people looking for a safe that is secure while providing a easy access in emergencies.
