Greater than one weekI had rated this 4 stars before I got my new computer and Windows 8; it definitely works better with Windows 8 (and 10?). I have used this to create CDs from old audio tapes and DVDs from old VHS tapes and am quite pleased. Quality of output is not high due to RGA or S-video limitations but that is as expected. I was glad to be able to recycle my old home VHS recordings (since VHS players are now hard to find).

21-04-2025Great VHS ripping, great editing options, great dvd burning tools. Reviews that reflect poor quality reflect the quality and condition that the VHS tapes and VHS players are in. I tried three VHS players from Goodwill stores and the third one played the best. TIP: shop Goodwill and look for DVD/VHS combo players. These are the most recently produced VHS players and worked the best for me.

Greater than one weekSoftware wont load, even the download from their website wont run with windows 10 directions say to select the .exe file but neither the disc or the zip file have a .exe file on them...... doh! Im researching now how to work around this but honestly I should not have to read hours of technical articles written in programming terminology to get a commercially produced program to run on my computer. Im going to try a few more things before I send it back to Amazon. Update: I was able to find the setup file and run the file. Once setup was complete I was able to get audio but not video to record. I called customer service and left a message they called me back and had me remove and reload the software. This time vidbox showed up as a video source. I attempted to record a video but the application stopped responding. Restarted it and tried again same deal. Restart d it and tried again and it worked. Now Im recording a 50 min video and so far so good. Currently recording the first video will update after video is done.

> 3 dayOkay, a warning: Windows 10 HATES this program. Get ready to struggle. However, it tends to settle down if you record short clips instead of a whole bunch at once. Older software, would love to see it updated.

> 3 dayFor the most part, I like this software/hardware product. I actually am very happy with the hardware. It is easy to connect my old camcorder to my computer and transfer to digital format. I have been putting them (transferred home movies from VHS) on disk drives (I call them thumb drives). My somewhat low rating is for the editing software. If you try to get too fancy making changes, the program stops responding and if you dont save your project OFTEN, you lose all the work (and a lot of time) you put in up to that point. The PDF directions are easy to read and comprehend but it wont let you email it to print from a different printer. (Mine is out of ink right now and I wanted to email it to work so I could print it on that printer.) There are a few other options Id like to see added. For example, there is a title screen and a credits screen in the storyboard editing. You cant copy a photo into either of these screens. It would be nice to be able to do that. It would also be nice to add a picture to the transitions between clips. And, I discovered (during this last non-responsive error) that you can add text to a clip but only to the beginning of a clip. I would like to add text to the middle of a clip, kind of like an editorial during events. I will continue to use this program; I just have to remember to save the project often and find other tricks to make title pages and ending credit pages the way I want them by making a new clip screen and adding a picture. Hopefully, it wont freeze before I get each edit done.

> 3 dayUsed with Windows 7, 64 bit OS and a 15 year old VHS. I had only unedited transfers from VHS direct to DVD to do, and it did this easily and flawlessly. Very simple to use for this purpose, but I have not tried its advanced features.

Greater than one weekI have had this product since 2018. I have used it on a number of devices over the years. Having bought a new laptop, I needed help with getting the product to work correctly on it. It seemed that no matter what I tried, it would not work. Then I emailed tech support at vidbox.company. They responded quickly and gave me numerous options to fix the connection issues. It all worked well, just have a minor tracking issue left, due to the new laptop using an AMD Athlon Gold processor. The issue is minor. I learned that this processor does not do well with high demand programs. This product, which does work quite well, works best with an Intel processor.

> 3 dayThe item is really easy to use. You only need to install the program CD and it works very easy. The quality of the file is not very high but its O.K. Probably the items with higher price have better quality than this one. One more notice: All my tapes are more that 3 hours long, the VIDBOX makes record only for max. 3 hours and I am forced to record the remained 15-20 Minutes separately.

> 3 dayI purchased this kit (VHStoDVD 8.0 Deluxe) awhile back during a Gold Box Lightning Deal sale, but Im just now getting around to using it. The software was easy to install and has been very easy to use (Im just using the basic video recording function). Hookup was simple too, just connect the cables to the box and to the video player. You get some cables with this kit - but Im using the S-Video input and had to supply my own cable for that. The digital videos this software creates is more than adequate for my needs. The finished files are in MPG format (think its MPEG-1) which are pretty huge, a one hour video comes out to be a 3GB+ file. The video resolution of the files Im getting is 480P (720x480). I could convert them to MP4, but the media player I have plays the MPG files fine. Im using a pretty heavy-duty computer (i7 w/12GB running Win7Pro) to run this software. Like I said, this kit works for me. Im happy with my purchase.
