I had two copy programs and cords but neither worked. Though not flawless the product worked for me. Sometimes though everything was hooked up properly I had to restart my PC to have it recognize the connections.

This product feels like its software is written by some guy that still living in the 90s with his VHS player. I have a few issue with the software. I wish you could pre-set the name of the video file that youre capturing before you hit the capture button. I also wish there were more formats available for capturing. The hack they have in the software is that you need to convert from the original file to something else after you extract. Then when you covert it looks like it has to play the whole thing in 3x speed. For me Im converting to an MPEG2 video using this software then converting that file to an m4v file. Im doing this for 2 reasons. I tune the file size in handbrake since the features are far more advanced than this ancient software. This lets me get file size reduce by over half without any noticeable video quality changes. Also, I use some free video editing software called DaVinci Resolve and it doesnt even support MPEG2 since it so old. Also, the registration process is broken and cant detect that you have an internet connection. It keeps telling me to fill out a form and mail it in because I dont have an internet connection. Like its my fault their software isnt working and they want me to yet again relive the age of the VHS where the only way to do registration was by mail. Another issue is that when you capture they should have a prompt so you can put in the date of the file and a description. I end up having to do this after the fact under the file properties in the operating system. What they do instead is just default to todays date and that gets automatically appended to the credits when youre using the editor. That part is really annoying since a lot of people would put multiple videos on one VHS to save money since tapes werent exactly cheap. All together it seems like this software is living in the past. Its mostly built on the premise of converting from one legacy medium (VHS) to another legacy medium(DVD). Then it just looks like their software developers probably just tried to hack a solution to convert the files for your digital devices. They might as well have just made a pop up that says, Just use Handbrake, then you dont have to wait for our slow software to do a worse job and waste more of the time youre already devoting to this project.

Absolutely easy to use even in the advanced mode. I did have to google the manual a couple of times and the menu/title backgrounds are a little outdated hence the 4 stars and not 5. I highly recommend this product for those wanting to convert their home vhs tapes.

Delivered as expected; works as expected. Ive been using the device for 2 weeks. I like the ability to view the VHS recordings on my computer screen as I decide which recordings to save. After I was using it for several hours, the picture failed. I telephoned the help desk and the rep advised that he was aware of the problem and that I should be able to regain viewing the picture by trying a different USB port or re-booting my computer. So far, the problem seems to occur only after several hours of usage. If the problem continues, the Honestech VHS to DVD wont be useful for extended viewing and recordings.

I like to use a product for a period of time before writing a review as to give a more accurate accounting of the item. I have converted 62 VHS tapes to DVD with this purchase. at first I had an issue and tech support had me download a new driver and I was all set to go. I am getting good quality images / video. I have had only one time that there was a glitch of sorts and the video did not burn. After the second try it went right through. I am extremely satisfied. Compared to ROXIO this one beat it hands down.

First off, I want to say this company has excellent customer service. A human in the United States answered the phone and was extremely helpful and they have late business hours and work weekends too. Very impressed! I only gave this product 4 stars because as you play the tape on the software it distorts the picture quite a bit which is very irritating and disappointing. They suggested I clean the heads inside the VCR which I admit hasnt been used in years so it could be dusty. Havent tried that yet. Their software also adds some audible noise and distorts the sound quality a little. I guess I could pay a professional company up to $10 a tape to do it but Im not willing to spend the money. Program is super easy to use! I used it with Windows 10 without needing any updating of the software or drivers.

It does exactly what I wanted to do. I have been able to save my camcorder recordings on DVD and on my computer. I have been able to share the videos with my family as well.

Used with Windows 7, 64 bit OS and a 15 year old VHS. I had only unedited transfers from VHS direct to DVD to do, and it did this easily and flawlessly. Very simple to use for this purpose, but I have not tried its advanced features.

The USB Box is great and works very well. The Video Editing SW works to edit video. The editing tools are very basic. Much time spent single stepping in frame, and second increments to get to the frame to cut. Makes DVDs that play on your computer, but does not make those that play in a video player. Some how apparently not included.
