> 3 dayUpdate: both monitors I purchased have started making quiet whistling noises, sounds similar to the noise made by an old hard drive when its seeking lots of data. This monitor has a super annoying feature where it changes the backlight brightness based on how much white is onscreen. This makes it impossible to set your brightness to a comfortable level. If you use dark mode apps like I do, you adjust your brightness so theyre readable. BUT, then if you open a light mode window, all of a sudden the monitor ramps up the brightness and its blindingly bright. Very stupid feature, very frustrating, defeats the whole point of setting the brightness. After a lot of digging through menus, I finally found a way to turn off the auto brightness. Its under Setup Menu -> ECO Mode. On a different topic, my macbook pro refuses to remember that this monitor is rotated, but that could be apples fault. Also, this monitor has a game mode which presumably runs faster, but it makes all the colors look washed out and ugly.

> 3 dayThis ViewSonic VG2455 24 Inch IPS 1080p Monitor provides gorgeous color and even better, it can swivel to portrait mode. This is a 24 model, which is a modest size by todays standards but its perfect for a small workspace or as a second monitor. It has a solid list of features including an IPS display, integrated speakers, swivel and tilt functions as well as easy height adjustment, an ultra thin bezel on three sides, USB-C, HDMI, display port and VGA connection ports, and five preset view modes. I have had a number of Viewsonic monitors over the years and have always favored them because of the brilliant color and this one is no exception. I am using this with a Windows system so have had no issues with the sound. The speakers are quite decent. Not as good as an expensive, secondary speaker but solidly good and they dont take up precious desktop space as an added sound system would. What I really love is the ability to swivel the display to portrait mode. In portrait mode, you can tuck this monitor into a very small space and its superb for text based work/layout or reading. I also love the 40 degree tilt because I use a standing desk and its a simple matter to just tilt it to the best angle for me when I am standing. The response time is a bit slow for some gaming but it isnt sold as a gaming monitor. You can certainly find a less expensive, 24 monitor but the features and gorgeous display make it worth the extra money, IMO. I have a Viewsonic display that is over 10 years old and still working perfectly so I am hoping this one will be just as durable.

Greater than one weekI tried this out with two Macs, a 2018 MacBook Pro with USB C connectivity, and a 2015 MacBook Pro. I connected the ViewSonic using a USB-C to DisplayPort cable, using a Thunderbolt 3-USBC cable, and using an HDMI cable. Whichever cable was used, from whichever Mac, resulted in an identical HD picture and an instantaneous transition to two side-by-side windows that could be used from the Mac. The picture itself is larger than that of the MacBooks built-in video but not quite as bright or as crisp. Still, it makes for perfect watching from a distance - Netflix streaming - or for having an extra stretch of desktop for home-based office work. What I have not been able to make work is the audio. For both Macs, for any cable, I was at best able to get it so that low level volume comes through to the ViewSonics speakers but it is not menu-adjustable nor does it respond to the built-in volume control (though the mute setting works properly). This may be a problem on the MacOS side rather than on the ViewSonics side, The sound can easily be switched back to the Mac where it is controllable in the usual manner. There are a number of adjustments to the video that can be made from the ViewSonics built in menu-driven control structure. Input control to get where you need is reasonably intuitive. The angle and height of the monitor on the detachable stand is easily adjusted, and the unit can be used in portrait mode if desired (and thats really where this shines, since that makes review of long pdf files or Word documents a breeze). This is more of an expansion of the MacBook Pros built-in video for those who need more desktop space, rather than as a separate screen for watching movies or other streaming material. From that perspective, connectivity and operating functionality is all excellent. Now if I could get the audio to play nicely with my MBPs, Id be happier with alternative applications.

> 3 dayThis is a just OK monitor....and not what I was hoping for in a ViewSonic. It has a dark pixel segment in the upper left corner...about 1/2 x 1/2. The quality is not what I remembered from their monitors, and I would not recommend it to others.

Greater than one weekI really like this monitor. It’s a well-designed monitor with a bright, crisp display that’s going to be really tough to beat without spending significantly more money. And, even if you do decide to spend significantly more money for a better monitor, the difference in picture quality isn’t going to be a jaw dropping. Now, with all that said, once you get this monitor up and running, you will definitely need to make many adjustments to it to get it dialed in exactly the way you like it. So, plan on spending about an hour or so changing settings, making adjustments and fine tuning the picture. And, once you do that, I can’t imagine anyone being anything but happy with this monitor. If I had to complain about something, it would be about the speakers. They’re strictly utilitarian. They provide basic sound. If you want anything better than that, you’ll need to get a pair of external speakers. Which I already had, and pretty much knew I would need since the onboard speakers are, of course, extremely small. Other than the minor speaker thing, I really couldn’t be more happy with this monitor. I think it’s a very solid choice if you’re looking for a 24” budget-friendly monitor. If you have any questions about this ViewSonic monitor, please feel free to ask, and Ill try my best to answer. I hope you found this review helpful.

> 3 dayunfortunately NOT compatible with my Mac Mini Nov. 2018. After a few tries it stopped connectingvia the adapter to the USb-C port. Also it corrupted my external hard drive.

> 3 dayThe monitor works well with my macbook. It charges the computer via the USBC and has USB ports for the keyboard and for the iphone. The issue is that it is only 2k. This is not enough for such a large screen. Still 5 stars since it works as advertised.

> 3 dayOther reviews talk about the picture and the lack of a USB-C cable. They have heard and now include a 10Gb/s 1m long cable which works fine. The built-in speaker sound quality is not as good a the build-in late model MacBook Pro laptop, but is ok. The USB-C cable allows for the monitor to be almost be a docking station. After a month of our family using 2 of these monitors, Ive raised it to 5-stars.

> 3 daylong story short, I shouldve kept my previous LG monitor from Costco and just bought an external speaker. It would probably have been much cheaper. This monitor is neat for being adjustable.
