> 3 dayWorks great and looks decently clean in the window. Took a while to figure out how to get it to fit in properly since the instruction manual doesnt explain much, but I eventually got it in properly and it works with the semi-permanent window screens in my apartment. Some criticism: Temp control seems only useful when its cold outside otherwise your room will never drop to the temp you set. There should be a timer for the warmer months when youll be using air conditioning. No timer also means you either run it the entire time youre not home or not at all. Not very useful as I smoke in my room. For some reason the foam on top of the fan doesnt span the entire length so you dont get a complete seal. I used some stick on foam strips to fill in those gaps. I also had to use tape on the sides since there is a slight gap. I like the foam blocks but every window is different so you cant always get the clean look. The remote that comes with it also works with the vornado tower fan I have, and the remote for that also works with this fan. To avoid them interfering I placed the fans on opposite sides of my bedroom. Seems like a silly problem to have with a brand like Vornado. Overall it works great for my needs. It doesnt take up too much vertical space like the ones with traditional fan blades. Ill probably buy another one if they make a new version with a timer.

> 3 dayI recently started sublimation as a new craft. The fumes are not healthy and I needed a good way to exhaust right at the table where the sub ink is being heated. This fan is perfect for that. It fits in the bottom of the window where I have my heat press. A caveat is that it is not airtight. As my craft room gets the hottest of the afternoon summer sun and we air condition the rest of the house, this was not a good thing. The foam spacers they provide do a decent job but, in my window anyway, they would possibly let in small insects as well as heat. This is not a problem for me, as the fan is simple to install and remove and I just do such when I am ready to sublimate. If your house is not air conditioned, then it would be a simple thing to use foam board or something similar to cover the small gaps between the foam spacers to keep insects out. It all depends on your situation and what you want it to do. Its a nice little fan. I do not regret the purchase. ;-)

Greater than one weekWound up giving this to my sister. She says she is very happy with it, especially that it is quiet and has a low profile. It can also used with a screen to keep bugs out; this is a good feature. On the whole we are happy, but do have some complaints. It doesnt isolate the outside air as well as expected and is best removed from the window on cold nights. The foam blocks they include to seal air gaps are barely useable. We received a unit with a nonworking remote, however the manufacturer was great about helping us get a working replacement.

> 3 dayMinor design or manufacturing issue which appears to be somewhat common based on the reviews... I received mine and I thought it was going to be perfect. Typical vertical vinyl window and this would fit perfectly in the opening. Anyway, I got it and turned it on to test before installing. One direction, it worked perfectly. Tried reversing the flow and TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK. This wasnt what I wanted. But because it seemed like the best option based on the window fans I found, I wanted to investigate a bit further. Upon disassembly and inspection, there is a bar (picture #1) on the rotating cage that hits the squirrel cage fan and makes the noise. For mine, it only does it in one direction. So to fix, I did the following: 1. Unplug the unit. Remove the 8 rubber caps and screws from the end caps. Remove the two end caps. 2. Remove the 6 screws on the bottom of the glossy white front panel and gently lift off the panel. 3. Remove the 6 exposed screws at the bottom of the unit and the 6 screws at the top (between the fins) 4. Gently separate the front and back. 5. Find the bar with a screw on both sides, you may need to rotate the fan assembly to bring it into view. 6. That bar is what is hitting, so I added a small washer on both sides to give it a bit more clearance. (Picture #2) 7. Spin the fan to make sure its not hitting. Rotate the assembly and test again. Make sure you dont hear anything hit when spinning the fan by hand or rotating the assembly. 8. Reassemble and it should stop ticking. Power on and test both directions (in and out) Other thoughts: 1. The foam on the bottom was too wide for my window where I wanted to position it with the screen still installed. I sliced it so that it fit the vinyl frame of the window. (Picture #3) That allowed it to fit snugly into the window instead of being raised against it. Also, this bottom foam should extend the full width of the fan, not stopping an inch short of each side. While this wasnt much of an issue after slicing the foam so itd fit into the window, it still leaves a bit of a gap. 2. The foam blocks are not ideal, but adding some double-stick tape between the blocks (once I figured out exactly how many to use) in order to keep them together seemed to help. 3. This doesnt NOT cut off the air when off. On a hot day, youll feel hot air coming in and on a cool day, youll find cool air coming in. I did make an insulation cover that attaches with velcro to help with this issue, but now its starting to sound like I need a new hobby... Anyway, I liked the fan and it works well for me, but they should probably fix their manufacturing issue. The plastic bar tolerance should be improved so you dont have the clicking issue. Mine seemed slightly warped, but if the bar was prone to warping, additional clearance should have been added so it doesnt click during normal usage out of the box. Maybe it was just mine, but I saw this comment in other reviews. With some work, I got it fitting perfectly, but it has to be removed due to air leakage at certain times of the year. Remote was great and everything else seems fine. Understand that there are a limited number of blocks included, so itll only fit windows of a certain width. There is NO screen on it, so I left my screen in, thus the installation issue. I fixed that by cutting the foam at the bottom (Picture #3) so that itd sit in the window without taking out the screen. Good luck! Its been removed for the winter as it just lets in way too much cold air. It may not be as simple as advertised, but its definitely workable if you want to spend the time fitting it and hopefully you dont have the clicking issue I did.

> 3 dayI ordered this fan to remove odors from my apt. It has a great exhaust and input. I really love the remote as well. The only thing I am not happy is the fan fitting the window. I had to rig other pieces to get a tight fit even with the included foam pieces. They did not stay in place. Everything is good now and it is a permanent fixture in my window.

> 3 dayEasy to install and operate. I would buy for each window in room rather than run A/C all day.

Greater than one weekI must be getting old because it annoyed me I couldn’t find a really good fan. Actually just one that didn’t rattle or make ridiculous noise. This is the one! I found it! Good airflow, minimal height, no rattles. Intake and exhaust at the push of a button. Love it.

> 3 dayremote battery failed after 2 days- i replaced it. other than that its a nice fan, Quiet. can suck outside air in or blow inside air out with just a touch. Can be placed in and out of the window easily. the blocks that come with it are weird. they dont snap together or anything. I just used cardboard to block the rest of the window.
