For starters, I never received the instructions in the box. Although, I think the unit was brand new, and never used. I think it was probably a return, and was being resold as new. Just my thoughts, because of the lack of instructions and the ability to send in a warranty card. I hope this last long time and it remains safe. Also, the remote is not working. How would I ever contact customer service? This bothers me a lot but I love the concept and it is working for me right now. I would like to have a new remote , that works.

Minor design or manufacturing issue which appears to be somewhat common based on the reviews... I received mine and I thought it was going to be perfect. Typical vertical vinyl window and this would fit perfectly in the opening. Anyway, I got it and turned it on to test before installing. One direction, it worked perfectly. Tried reversing the flow and TICK TICK TICK TICK TICK. This wasnt what I wanted. But because it seemed like the best option based on the window fans I found, I wanted to investigate a bit further. Upon disassembly and inspection, there is a bar (picture #1) on the rotating cage that hits the squirrel cage fan and makes the noise. For mine, it only does it in one direction. So to fix, I did the following: 1. Unplug the unit. Remove the 8 rubber caps and screws from the end caps. Remove the two end caps. 2. Remove the 6 screws on the bottom of the glossy white front panel and gently lift off the panel. 3. Remove the 6 exposed screws at the bottom of the unit and the 6 screws at the top (between the fins) 4. Gently separate the front and back. 5. Find the bar with a screw on both sides, you may need to rotate the fan assembly to bring it into view. 6. That bar is what is hitting, so I added a small washer on both sides to give it a bit more clearance. (Picture #2) 7. Spin the fan to make sure its not hitting. Rotate the assembly and test again. Make sure you dont hear anything hit when spinning the fan by hand or rotating the assembly. 8. Reassemble and it should stop ticking. Power on and test both directions (in and out) Other thoughts: 1. The foam on the bottom was too wide for my window where I wanted to position it with the screen still installed. I sliced it so that it fit the vinyl frame of the window. (Picture #3) That allowed it to fit snugly into the window instead of being raised against it. Also, this bottom foam should extend the full width of the fan, not stopping an inch short of each side. While this wasnt much of an issue after slicing the foam so itd fit into the window, it still leaves a bit of a gap. 2. The foam blocks are not ideal, but adding some double-stick tape between the blocks (once I figured out exactly how many to use) in order to keep them together seemed to help. 3. This doesnt NOT cut off the air when off. On a hot day, youll feel hot air coming in and on a cool day, youll find cool air coming in. I did make an insulation cover that attaches with velcro to help with this issue, but now its starting to sound like I need a new hobby... Anyway, I liked the fan and it works well for me, but they should probably fix their manufacturing issue. The plastic bar tolerance should be improved so you dont have the clicking issue. Mine seemed slightly warped, but if the bar was prone to warping, additional clearance should have been added so it doesnt click during normal usage out of the box. Maybe it was just mine, but I saw this comment in other reviews. With some work, I got it fitting perfectly, but it has to be removed due to air leakage at certain times of the year. Remote was great and everything else seems fine. Understand that there are a limited number of blocks included, so itll only fit windows of a certain width. There is NO screen on it, so I left my screen in, thus the installation issue. I fixed that by cutting the foam at the bottom (Picture #3) so that itd sit in the window without taking out the screen. Good luck! Its been removed for the winter as it just lets in way too much cold air. It may not be as simple as advertised, but its definitely workable if you want to spend the time fitting it and hopefully you dont have the clicking issue I did.

    Greater than one week

I live in an area that AC is not normal. But my bedroom is upstairs so on any sunny day the room is hot, summer, unbearable. I have always used the double window fans you get at the local hardware store, and they are better than nothing, but basically worthless, not too mention loud. I stumbled on this, I read the reviews, found them to be mixed, but decided to pull the trigger anyway. It is pretty spendy, but I have to say, I believe it was worth every penny. I love the lower profile, and the air blows deep into the room, unlike the others that seem to not make it much past about a foot. The sound on its highest level (4) is whisper quiet. I get real air draw on the out, and it flips with a double tap of the remote. I do not use the temp control. Now, while I give it 5 stars, and I recommend it, and love it, there is a design flaw, and that is in the foam blocks for getting a seal around it. I def had to mcgyver it a bit. They are basically stupid, but better than nothing. There are several reviews that discuss them, and honestly, they are not wrong. However, dont let it deter you from a great fan.

Make Sure You measure your window:) I got mine to work but it is outside the replacement window with the window handle holding it, I have a screen so it placed well, good over all design, I think they went for quiet more than power. My old Holmes (they dont make the model anymore) was much more powerful, but much much louder. I use it for exhaust only, it does not pull smoke well, and Im 5 ft. away on level 4. We will see how long it lasts I do like the design.

I just purchased this fan for a bathroom window, where I often sneak a cigarette instead of going outside when Im busy working and short on time or if it is miserably cold or hot outside. The fan is attractive and the spacers to seal the gaps on the sides worked well for me (but are not air-tight). (I have 10-yr old Pella vinyl windows with screens.). The reversible air flow option is convenient and works just ok. However, in the exhaust mode, when strong winds blow against the fan from outside, the outside air still pushes past the fans and into the room even on the highest exhaust speed. When the fan is in the OFF position, it is advertised that the fan automatically goes into Closed Mode. The accuracy of this statement by the seller is of questionable accuracy. It is true that when the fan is turned off, the fan blades close in on themselves; however, this does NOT close the fan from in/out air flow. There are uncloseable gaps around the fan blades allowing wind, outside smells (car exhaust), and pollen to blow into the room. The fan is easily installed, but it is not meant to be taken in and out simply with each use to combat this problem. The idea is nice and might be more functional in temperate climates, but in Atlanta, it gets HOT and I will not be able to leave this in the window in the window anytime outside of the few weeks of fall we get. Other than the mediocre exhaust fan power, it is not a whole lot different than just leaving a window open given the inability to close the vents. I would not have expected to pay anything more than $45 for this product rather than the $100 price tag.

Because the 4th video states they installed their fan vertically the instructions warn you not to do it. Because that video showed it vertically, I purchased this item. Now I have to go thru the trouble of taking it to a UPS store 45 miles away to return it!!! Otherwise, I believe it would have been a great fan!!!

I’m in an apartment, in a tiny town, with only a window unit in the front room and no way to get air to the back (down a hall) where my bedroom is. It is often much cooler outside than in my apartment, all night. This fan was meant to help me sleep at night, bringing in the cool air when there is zero breeze outside. First night, it was so quiet and the room cooled off so well, I got one of the best nights of rest in over a month. By day 2 it seemed louder, but I thought no way…by day 7 I couldn’t leave it on while I tried to sleep. And now a month later, I can only turn it on in the hours before I go to bed, with the door almost shut because it’s almost louder than i can reasonably put my tv. I am quite disappointed, and grateful for winter(my least favorite time to live in colorado) I’m a student in an intense program, I’m stressed and tired anyways, but this fan caused a couple sleepless nights that I just can’t afford mentally or physically. I’d return if I could, as it is, it’ll go in the trash in 7months when I graduate and go back home.

Very nice air flow, both exhaust and bringing in air. Very impressed. Would definitely buy again

Works well. Fairly silent and does manage to shift all the hot air out of a room in a few minutes. I mounted it at the top of my window in rhe computer room as that room gets hot and stuffy fast Maor gripe with it....you cant tell if its on or off. The power led stays on all the time, and the rest of the display powers off after a few seconds..fine..but you cant seeif its on or off. If the power led went red while powered down or something...but nope. Looks powered on even when off. Or off when on. Very annoying. But even with that ive ordered another to go under my desk. Its quiet enough for that and has low vibration. No more mosquitos chewing my elbows. Got the second one in black. Also pretty awesome. Can confirm they use the same code so the remotes are interchangeable and can affect two devices at once.

Fast delivery, however, it came in damaged packaging. I was concerned with the content but it looked ok. So, I ran a quick test to make sure and it seems no internal damage. Will install it and see if it fits the window using the form blocks provided. Will update the review sometime later.
