> 3 dayAs a fan, this unit is pretty solid. Construction is good, it puts out a lot of air, and the native Alexa integration is great. The added functionality of temperature control, direct/exhaust modes, and touch panel are nice as well. It’s also reasonably quiet compared to most units. Setup was fairly easy, although I had to link it to my home automation in the space where my Echo hub resides and it required multiple attempts, including a factory reset or two along the way. That costs this design a half star; I should have been able to do it all from the bedroom and without having to do a factory reset (it was a new unit). The fan is not very wide and, as such, requires fins on either side to fill in the window space. Vornado includes slotted, foam fins you can place - 2 each of 3 different sizes. Problem is…they do not attach to the fan or each other. Additionally, their height is just a bit too short to ensure they stay in place. Mine regularly fall out of the window. To solve this issue, I’m attaching Velcro dogs so they can be held together. It’s a simple fix, but, again, a design issue that I shouldn’t have to deal with at this price point so another half star there. Besides those minor issues, I like this fan and its features. It does a good job of keeping the room cool, cycling adequate air in/out (it is NOT an air conditioner; no condenser, coils, etc). If your window is too small to fit a full sized box fan, this is a solid option.

> 3 dayI use this fan as a sort of economizer to cool during sping/fall months when outside air is low enough. I have attached FEIT smart plug and use automation to kill power when outside air rises above 75 F. It would be nice if settings were kept when power is killed and fan could return on, even better would be built in app / schedule functionality like a smart thermostat that could be programmed to turn off / on. Would be nice if fan sealed better when turned off. Outside air gets a little cool and even off with damper closed, it is leaking through. Appearance is good. Also some sort of insulated cover would be great, so fan doesnt have to be removed for winter / summer

> 3 dayI really like this compact window fan. Fits nicely in my bedroom window, easy installation & instructions. Presently, it’s 80° at 11:45am, and the fan is quietly, blowing in a comfortable cool breeze at the highest (4) setting. My bedroom is size 14’ by 16’ and it’s very cool. The cord will fits underneath in a groove. Nice alternative for an air conditioner between seasons. Pleasantly surprised & very pleased with it. Thinking about ordering another one.

Greater than one weekThe airflow is great. Keeps the air moving and has been a great help for both me and my cat (we’ve got allergies). The design is great as it fits in the window nicely as a small sliver, so I don’t have to open the window very wide. This is great because I have a first floor apartment right next to the sidewalk, so this helps with privacy. Win! The remote is awful. Whoever designed the remote cannot be the same people who designed the fan. The remote has to be taken apart with a screwdriver to change or adjust the battery. No screw, no battery contact. It’s a small, pain in the butt detail which causes more wasted time and effort. Example: the remote rarely works. Ever. Why not? I unscrewed and removed the backing. The contact wasn’t making full contact with the battery. I nudged it over. Screwed the screw back in (basically stripping it in the process). Ok, great! It works well now. Half a day later it’s back to working when it wants to. I have to push most buttons on that thing at least 3 or 4 times directly in front of the fan to get it to accept my input. So why use the remote? Because it’s somehow easier than the really bad touch-panel display. I work in tech and am in no way a technophobe, but like, just give me physical buttons. Something that actually makes the user experience easier. All in all I am happy with the fan, but the controls are garbage.

> 3 dayLet me preface this by saying that I have 3 different Vornado fans that I LOVE. And Ive had 2 of them for 3 years and 1 of them for 2 years. This brand is to be trusted — with fans. This product unfortunately missed the mark for me. It is sleek, and the design is beautiful — by far the most beautiful transom fan on the market. However, this product in actual use is just . . . not there. 1) The amount of air it moves is not that much. You can barely feel any air moving unless your hand is within 20 inches or so of the vent. 2) The thermostat is quite useless. This fan was in the window of my bedroom RIGHT by my head. I wanted it in my bedroom, because I like to sleep very cold, and for some reason my apartment TRAPS heat like nowhere Ive ever lived. So one of the first nights I have this transom fan, it was a very cold, and I set it to 60. The room was probably 72-74 or so. Well after a few minutes, it turned off, saying it was 60 in the room. I asked my echo (also in the same room) what the temperature of the room was, and it said it was 71.6 . . . and it felt like it. I knew it wasnt anywhere near 60, but Vornado did. So I had to turn it down to 45 to get it to stay on. So the auto-on and auto-off features are really useless. 3) The lights on the front of the unit do dim as it says they do, except for the power light which is basically a beacon in a very dark room. I found that really annoying. I put a piece of black gaffers tape over it to fix it — still something I dont think I should have had to do. 4) The worst thing about this unit was that after less than a week of use, it began emitting a constant, high-pitched squeal. Even though it wasnt super loud, it was absolutely unbearable being so close to my head at night. Im sure it just needs some grease or WD-40, but I wasnt about to start haphazardly spraying WD-40 around the inside and probably voiding my warranty — also I shouldnt need to do that after a week. Come on, Vornado. So I decided to return the unit because of the noise plus the other minor annoyances. Again — I just want to reiterate that there are no other fans that I recommend more than Vornado! But this particular unit is a miss. Im actually going to spending my long weekend this weekend making my own transom fan using server cooling fans between two pieces of thin plywood — should be nearly silent and move about twice the air on high as the Vornado.

> 3 dayPurchased this to replace an old Honeywell two fan unit. Pleasantly surprised, moves a decent amount of air and is fairly quiet, the LEDs arent blinding at night and the buttons dont make any stupid beeps. I only wish the width adjustment was better, I liked the expandable accordian type things my old fan had better than the goofy foam blocks this came with.

> 3 dayMy home office also houses my home server, multiple NAS devices, and a 3d printer. It runs about 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the house and I’ve used a window fan for years. My old traditional window fan started rattling (assuming a bearing is going out) and I found this. I wavered between the remote and Alexa version but ultimately decided on the Alexa version. It’s been really nice to be able to change the settings via voice and it’s been rock solid for both exhaust and direct mode.

Greater than one weekIt works great but took a while to learn the words for Alexa but it’s worth the money

> 3 dayI recently started sublimation as a new craft. The fumes are not healthy and I needed a good way to exhaust right at the table where the sub ink is being heated. This fan is perfect for that. It fits in the bottom of the window where I have my heat press. A caveat is that it is not airtight. As my craft room gets the hottest of the afternoon summer sun and we air condition the rest of the house, this was not a good thing. The foam spacers they provide do a decent job but, in my window anyway, they would possibly let in small insects as well as heat. This is not a problem for me, as the fan is simple to install and remove and I just do such when I am ready to sublimate. If your house is not air conditioned, then it would be a simple thing to use foam board or something similar to cover the small gaps between the foam spacers to keep insects out. It all depends on your situation and what you want it to do. Its a nice little fan. I do not regret the purchase. ;-)

> 3 dayI really like the slim design. But I was disappointed with how little air this fan moves compared to the more typical (and uglier) window units with two round fans—even at the max speed setting (4). I use it at night to cool down the room when the outside temperature drops, but its not working very well ... not surprising given how little air it pushes. It is also louder than I was expecting, with a bit of a clicking/whirring sound—even at the lowest speed setting (1). Once again, louder and more annoying than the white noise from the typical 2-round fan models. In summary: + great looks/design - does not move much air, not great for cooling even a small room - noisier than traditional window fans I am quite disappointed because I really wanted to like this product ... perhaps I received a faulty unit.
