My hard drive is still chugging along. It is a price and storage bs speed trade off. Great value for the size. Hard to compete with solid state but so much more value

Excellent drive from WD, as always, BUT the one surprise is that this model has a spool-up/access noise that is a bit louder than I have heard from their drives ever before. Only a small detractor, if it bothers you.

If you look really hard, youll see an answered question that says Nope, it doesnt need batteries! It has an adaptor! which isnt the same as including it in the spec. The SPEC doesnt mention Hey, you need AC power, which is a huge drag. As portable as a toaster. You can do it, sure, but what a PITA. The adapter, fortunately, is a strip-hog and takes up two plugs or more. Making a pig-tail plug would add eleven cents to the cost and... no way. They cant be bothered with that. Nope, you have to find room on your strip, etc. for this strip-hog. For a hard drive. Good news: it works. Cheap and deep. Bad news: welcome back to 2008, or thereabouts.

I got this USB Drive to perform Time Machine Backups of my MacBook Air M2. There is plenty of storage to backup the 1Tb laptops hard drive. The only downside is that the connector is USB-3, so I have to use a multi-port adapter to connect the USB-3 to the laptop via the Thunderbolt port. I do like that this drive has a separate AC adapter, rather than drawing its power via the laptop itself.

Mine was good. the 2 5TB HDDs bought prior to this did not last the 90 days. with the recent lawsuit for selling HDDs to China after told to stop will be raising prices on future drives because consumers are ALWAYS the ones that pay the FINES companies are sued to pay. Portability is very low because it is not meant to be for a laptop because you need to plug drive into own power, and the materials are not made to be tossed around.

What I use it for : Xbox Series X storage Does it work?: Oh yeah Love it. Not the first or last HD Ill buy from them. I used this to condense my Xbox storage to 1 HD instead of a few smaller ones. It works perfectly for that. Easy just plug it in and switch it on and store away. For my fellow gamers, I will add that some games are too crazy for it and you have to play them from internal storage. But thats no big deal for me. Bubba (what I named it) holds most games I own then I just copy a game to internal storage if it requires it for gameplay then delete then copy if I dont need it anymore or plan on walking away from that game for awhile. Keeps things organized and my console running smoothly. This is a rare need honestly.

Good deskside HDD. Adequate size and semi-portable. Actual usable storage is 18.1TB vs the advertised 20TB. Good for virtual hoarders.
