Youth Digital Mod Design 1 - Online Course for MAC/PC

I rarely bother to review anything, but we bought this for our 9 year old son for Christmas and he immediately became obsessed. I cant comment on the quality of the content, because my son really did all of the components independently (and my Minecraft and coding knowledge is limited). But I will say thank you to Youth Digital for putting together a program that was easy enough for him to move through independently and engaging enough to keep him involved to the end. He emailed questions to Youth Digital along the way, and always got quick and helpful responses. After submitting his final project he got a thoughtful and thorough review of his mod. A staff member had clearly taken the time to play through his design and note what worked and what didnt. That meant a lot to him.

Have had this for a few weeks for my (barely) 12 year old son. We sat down and watched the classes together the first day...and that was pretty much all my involvement. Hes been able to completely do this on his own. Even running into a problem, he just emailed Youth Digital and Courtney quickly sent back a friendly and informative reply (and even copied it to me, to which Im thankful for the safety factor!). It is VERY hard to get that kind of customer service in todays world! And when I sat down to review what he did to try and fix the problem he was having, my son knew SO much. I kept saying how I was impressed with how he could zoom in and out and around the program and how he knew exactly what the teacher was saying to repair. (I had no clue.) I have to admit, Im not a mom who was overly thrilled that my son was obsessed with Minecraft. But this is a win-win as Youth Digital has made a game he thoroughly enjoys into an educational learning experience. I no longer feel like hes wasting his time, but investing it! Bought this on woot.com (actually owned by Amazon) several months ago for $150. Glad I didnt spend $250. This is supposedly targeted at 8-14 year old kids but my son says its really for 7 year old kids. Hes 14 but since hed done no programming at all, I thought this would be good for him. He watched the first few classes and basically put it down. Finally I got him to agree to watch if I watched with him. I get this is aimed at little kids but teacher (Justin?) says in 20 mins what could easily be said in 3 mins or maybe even less. I understand why he doesnt want to do this even tho hes a big gamer including an expert minecrafter. Once he gets thru the whole course, Ill likely update my review... he says hell definitely do it and it will help him in the long run but its just twooooo loooonnnggg winded.

Excellent. The instructing is done so well for the 8-14 year old they have no idea that they are actually learning or taking a class. My 11 year old jumped right in, installed the software himself and looks forward to going to the next lesson each day. Terrific product!

this is an awesome program!

My 11 years old son loves it!!!! It is fun, easy to follow, and he is learning new things everyday!!! Even his sisters are learning how to use programs and install them. Great for any kid who loves to play Minecraft and is ready to take it to a new level!! It allows kids to make changes to the game themselves instead of having to find a mod someone else created. My son loves personalizing the game with his ideas!!!!

Great program - Justin the teacher is perfect for this. Entertaining and engaging for kids. Does a great job taking it super slow and explaining everything in detail.

My son (14) loved it! He thanked me week after week for buying it for him. It is pricier than most of the other courses we have bought for him to learn coding, but it was really quiet special.

My kids love Minecraft. I had been wanting them to learn how to create mods in order to segue their passion for Minecraft into some programming knowledge. My son and I had read lots of internet content, then spent a very frustrated weekend trying to teach ourselves to mod with no results.
