> 3 dayThis switch is robust and has more features than I need, at least for now. I just wanted something to chain into my home network to accommodate a laptop that runs my security system, and a couple wired IP PoE cameras. Bear in mind that this is supplying 48V for PoE, so make sure you have PoE equipment rated for that. Its sturdy, and has an internal power supply, so it plugs into a grounded outlet via a cord (no cheap wall wart, yay!). It works well for me in default mode, and if I needed it to work over longer runs, I could set it for extended which would boost the power, at the expense of speed, but still fast enough for cameras. I will probably never need to use the VLAN option, but its there and someone is going to need it. Its really a decent PoE switch and packs a lot of value for the money. Five stars.

> 3 dayCommenting on the loudness of a switch doesnt seem to make sense but considering the last switch I was using was a 16 port netgear more designed for a data center than a house, it makes sense. That switch had a loud fan running at all times. Combined with the sound from my NVR providing the POE for some cameras, it made for a pretty loud tech closet. This switch is perfectly quiet but provides at least enough power for the 3 cameras I have plugged into it so far. Probably more but I havent gotten that far. Ive also got a couple items plugged into it which are not using the POE so it works for that situation as well.

> 3 dayThis is perfect for anybody who has a network closet and just needs to get all their cables connected throughout the house. Its a dumb switch, no management at all, but delivers full gigabit speed to all devices. It even has POE so I converted some devices to POE like my access points and it worked so much better and looked cleaner throughout the house. It worked perfectly well for how long I had it but I ended upgrading to a managed switch only because I wanted vlan configurations. If you dont need any type of configuration then this switch is going to work super well and at the price its pretty good considering how much other switches cost + you get poe! 10/10 for me for what it is.

Greater than one weekQuiet, finless design, powers, your POE devices, easily without any noise. You can use all four ports, or only two in an extended POE setting, which allows further distances. There’s also a vlan switch to separate the four-ports from talking to each other, only to the uplink ports. Two uplink options exist, a gig copper ethernet port or a gig SFP fiber port. Does not support SFP+ modules. All ports support up to 1Gbps speeds.

> 3 dayFor small networks unmanaged PoE switches are fine for phones and cameras. This works well. Easy to mount and use. No problem powering up 10 cameras and a phone. Its about time switches started coming down in price and having quality to them.

> 3 daySome updates: The fanless design. When a constant sound just disappears, only then do you realize the level of quiet you can achieve. I didnt realize how much fan noise my old POE switch created. Now, if only I could somehow reduce/remove the fan noise from my NVR. The SFP ports. As far as I can tell, these ports are not meant for tandem/redundant use. Meaning, you cant run both SFP ports to the same device. There are some devices out there that do have redundant ports but in my use and testing, this switch is not one of them. You really only need the SFP ports if you are using the VLAN mode. If not, just use one of the 16 ports as an uplink. You can also find a cheap SFP RJ45 module (youd only need one--I got two unnecessarily) for your uplink and still have 16 available POE ports. And even if you use a SFP port for an uplink, VLAN is optional. Im only using 9 POE devices so I cant speak on the power delivery. Its more than enough for my current setup. Ive only been using it for a couple months or so and just cleaned up the cabling. Added some shielded CAT8 cables (overkill). Its been working great. Also no changes in temperature in my cabinet. Its also been colder than usual but still the cabinet has the same airflow in a climate controlled building so no temperature change, for me, is a good thing. Original review: Great POE switch with rack brackets included. Would work just sitting on a shelf as well. Having the 2 SFP ports is an upgrade for me but I didnt expect and dont see a performance difference. I suppose I need faster equipment to be able to see a difference. Or speeds just hit a ceiling at my (low) level. It was a simple swap... As simple as unplugging and plugging cables can be. Nothing more to add really. Its a switch and it does what it says.

> 3 dayAs the title says this is a solid switch for general purposes. But for those who are starting or upgrading their home lab Id suggest investing in something better, this wont have all of the functionality youre looking for.

> 3 dayThis switch would be great for home monitoring systems where you have a few devices that need both power and Ethernet connection. Being a gigabit switch this will easily handle any traffic that high end cameras can throw at it and the power budget of 65W total is plenty for most devices that you would be plugging in. The switch has a dedicated uplink port that can be placed into VLAN mode so all of the rest of the ports communicate with the uplink port. This is a nice feature for home security systems as if one cord is cut, the rest will continue to function. The switch itself is plug and play and has a few configuration options for networking. While it doesnt come with a lot of fancy frills, it performs its job very well for what it is. If you are looking for a solid PoE switch that can power your small home security system, look no further.

> 3 daySurprisingly great switch. For the price having a full 16 port 10/100/1000 and poe is an absolute deal. Works as you would expect, just simply plug and play. Overall would definitely recommend.

> 3 dayNo issues at all with this unmanaged POE switch. Its even wall mountable! The 48v Active POE switch injects the correct amount of voltage to my PDs. It powers up my extenders with no problems. Im happy with it. Great product! Completely plug and play :D I recommend this switch if youre looking at this one.
