I purchased the drill-less bracket and its useless. Normally I rely on the metal nubs that hold the window accordion and jut out of the bottom and top of my AC unit to provide leverage against the sill and hold it flush against the window. Since this bracket lays flat across the whole sill theres no way to let the nubs on the bottom of the AC lock in anywhere on the sill or bracket, instead they just balance on top of the bracket leaving about 1/2 of space for air to get in beneath the AC. Not only does this mean you would need insulation foam to fill this gap, I also live in a third floor NYC apartment above a daycare. I do not feel comfortable mounting an AC unit on this bracket if its just going to balance there, because lets just say the rest of the manufacturing doesnt instill confidence in its sturdiness. This bracket may work for someone who just needs to mount an AC above their backyard with low consequences for it falling (youll still need to buy insulation), but its not gonna cut it if you live in an apartment and a falling AC could hit someone in the head.

I use this for a small window AC unit on my molded fiberglass RV. I had to use different holes for the legs due to the rounded shell to make it level. Works great. I have no fears this will come off during use and destroy my AC unit. Once set up it is super fast and easy to install and remove. A bit pricey but worth the peace of mind.

    Window air conditioner.

Good idea but couldnt use because the lower rail (holds the accordian sides) on the a.c. unit has to fit in the window groove. With this brace it raises it way above where it should naturally fit.

If your air conditioner has a bar or feet on the bottom, or the bottom of your unit isnt completely flat, this bracket will not work with your air conditioner. Alpine Hardware was very responsive with their support so I cannot complain about that.

One of the hardest things I have put together. Instructions were not clear (noted, I received different instructions from someone else’s photo…mine was missing half the labels and had an awful description of which nuts and bolts to use). It’s definitely sturdy, but no more sturdy than a regular bracket. I don’t understand why these are more than double a good regular bracket. But I paid because I didn’t want to drill and there were zero cheaper options.

I was excited to get this because I thought it would work great for my purposes and save me a lot of the usual hassles with installing a new ac unit. I was sadly and totally wrong. It’s a one size fits most with a lot of assembly. Get out your toolkit, a couple people to help, and set aside a good bit of time. The instructions are unclear with not the greatest drawings. You will need someone to hold the multiple parts together while you screw and bolt them together. Some spots are so tight you need small hands and an offset screwdriver to fit in there. Some attachments you are trying to hold a nut with your fingertip as you try to get the bolt started in them. A lock washer with a standard nut would be better there than a lock nut. It’s not particularly stable even after it’s all bolted together and doesn’t hold the an ac unit that weighs less than their maximum. It doesn’t grip the window ledge and the whole thing wants to fall out of the window. Luckily we have a deck so the outside of the ac and this support frame are sitting on a stack of boards on a bench to keep it in place. Not a well thought out or constructed piece of equipment and a waste of time and money.

Exactly what I wanted. I didnt want to drill holes in the siding but needed a window unit for my garage. It holds a 12000btu unit very well. It is capable of holding even a larger unit. Most importantly NO HOLES!

Product works well. If you can figure out the very vague directions. Once done is good

There are two issues number 1 see photos. Number 2 there is no way to seal the surrounding gaps caused by the designs lack of slot for the STANDARD lower bracket on air conditioners. The value is negated by the entire process we went through - purchase, wait, receive, unpack, layout, gather the tools, assemble, realizing the improper weld, choose to forge ahead regardless to make it work, then realizing the typical window air conditioner lower support bracket that usually sits in the window frame has nowhere to go! We missed that when looking at the design. Our fault but, never the less there is no slot for this in the design. This means you have to come up with an alternative way of closing the gap caused by the air conditioners standard lower bracket that would normally sit inside the window frame for its left and right-side wings. Total pain in the ass...period! The amount of time spent on the process is lost so it was returned. Total bummer, nowhere like the majority of what’s available here, does the ad reveal where its manufactured. We are soooooo over this same story, DECEPTION ABOUND!!!!
