> 24 hourI dont really understand the complaints about the color with this monitor. It was the one thing that kept me from purchasing it and I was pleasantly surprised to find that people are generally wrong as the gamut volume is about 93% sRGB accurate. With a proper ICC color profile with Display Profile and some monitor OSD tweaking, the color on this monitor is way more than adequate for gaming and movies. Its actually very pleasing. The best looking IPS panels will be 100% sRGB and near 100% Adobe RGB but also be pretty awful for gaming. TN panels are now approaching 100% sRGB (the best Ive found was 97%) and maintain their fast refresh and response rates. Keep in mind that for a good TN gaming monitor you will be spending $200 and it will be 60Hz. For just $50-70 more you can get 120Hz and 3D. Asus also has a great RMA policy on this monitor and my last Asus monitor is 5 years old and still chugging. Never blinked. That said, 120Hz is just okay. It isnt a game changing experience for me. I forget about it in the mix of action. The first time I experienced it, it was definitely noticeable but within the next 10 minutes it was indistinguishable unless I focused on the smoothness. Its nice to have but not game changing. I havent tried 3D and Im sure I will find that to be a gimmick. Some of the reviews of 3D gaming have me intrigued but Im not looking to drop another $60 just to try it. Just a very solid monitor, overall. No real flaws or areas where you wish it were better. Some OSD tweaks would be nice but not a big deal. Being able to save profiles would be nice. The stand is very solid and I had forgotten how nice it was to have the ability to raise it to proper eye level. The cable management is fairly poor mostly because of where the cables plug into the monitor itself. I use DVI and the red cable management clip on the back routes the cable right into eye view under the panel. Thats annoying. I ordered and DisplayPort cable to see if that helps. Also stays very cool. I feel no actual heat coming off the top of this monitor with my brightness being 24. It seems to sip power and give off very little heat in return - keeping in mind it is winter and under 70F in my place. If you are worried about color, dont be. If you are coming from IPS you wont miss much and with gaming in mind, you will benefit more than you lose.

> 24 hourDefinitely the best monitor I have ever used. I would say this is tied with my mouse (deathadder 2013, huge upgrade from my s***ty stock mouse) as the best upgrade Ive gotten for my gaming setup so far. Even moving the cursor from this to my 60hz display on the side of it you can see noticable mouse lag. The 1ms input lag for this display, in addition to the 120hz and lightboost (greatest thing ever, incredibly clear movement) there is almost no lag at all in what youre seeing. I play competitive tf2 in the esea, and I can pretty safely say this has let me improve a lot. Though I was decently good before I got this, I feel like I have a MUCH better visability and grasp of movement/aiming with this. Its really like going from a tiny little SD television to a giant flat screen HD, everything is so much clearer and visible. The one downside I have found is the colors and scan lines. Without lightboost the colors are great, you can find a couple sites with drivers and special settings to use for this monitor, however with lightboost on everything is washed out and purple tinted. Ive gotten used to it but it may be a surprise at first. Ive been using the program flux which changes the color temperature by time of day to try and offset this and it looks much mroe natural now. With lightboost as well you can see visable scan lines across the screen. You can probably look up google images or threads about it to see examples. Im not sure if mine is just faulty or all of them do this but it is not that big of a deal, unless you have the monitor right in front of your face. Love the adjustable height and swivel, power button is really easy to hit haha and the built in timers and crosshairs are pretty cool.

> 24 hourWhen I was buying this monitor, it was supposed to be the second in my setup. For the price I didnt expect much from it, and assumed my primary monitor will not change (120hz, 3D support, etc.). However, I quickly changed my mind when unboxed it and had a chance to compare. No ghosting and no flickering even when V-Sync is disabled @183Hz. Its OK to expect some flickering when you disable V-Sync, but on this monitor I havent seen it a single time. It depends on the games, though. The brightness is awesome, which is especially important when using 3D goggles. In my setup I could only use 120Hz in 3D, but this was the goggles limitation (NVidia, 1st-gen). After almost 3 years of using it, I still cannot tell anything bad about it. UPDATE. Now, when I use it for more than 6 years, I do have a complaint (not affecting the score though). The way how this monitor talks with the host devices via HDMI/DP drives crazy some of the modern devices. I have a MacBook Pro in the household that crashes to kernel occasionally, being attached to this monitor via MiniDP=>DP cable. It works just fine being attached to a newer monitor. My main system has RTX 2080 video card onboard, and it simply cannot boot with this monitor attached to any port (USB-C/HDMI/DP). I never thought a monitor can affect the host system that bad, but this is a proven fact in my setup. The main system works flawlessly with a newer monitor (Benq), but if I switch it to this monitor (doesnt matter if its a secondary or the only one), the system simply hangs in POST. Its a mystery which Im not going to solve. Ill replace the monitor instead. It fully paid off during these 6 years anyway, so no score penalty. This monitor worths its money.

> 24 hourBuilt-in 2W stereo, DisplayPort, Dual-link DVI-D, and HDMI ports, 1920x1080, 80,000,000:1 ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio, and 350 cd/m² of brightness, 144 Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time are some of the awesome features that this badboy display features. This display has a minimum black level of .0121 cd/m^2 and brightness level of 412 cd/m^2. I have tested this display with various games (BF4, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Lichdom Battlemage. Compared to my old monitor Acer G235HAbd 23 (which I bought in 2012 and still use) I dont have to worry about ghosting, lag, or choppy action due to fast response time & refresh rate, colors were more crisper, contrast was much more definitive, and the difference in brightness is comparable to a led flashlight vs. candle light (yup it is pretty bright). This display is certainly an eye opener in my perspective. However, one thing to note is that the colors are washed out, and brightness level is too high with stock settings, and so you have to manually tweak the settings in order to get a good image quality. The HDMI cable limits the refresh rate to 60 Hz, but the DVI cable offers full 144 Hz refresh rate. I have not tested the built in speakers so I am not sure about sound quality of the built-in speakers, but if you ask any gamer they will say they either use a headset or external sound system hooked up to the computer so it is not a big deal for me at least. The VG248QE doesnt have a gamma control so it has gamma setup horribly that an attempt to achieve a 2.2 power law gamma will actually crush your blacks (yeah - its that bad). All is not lost as these problems can be fixed with some calibrating and an ICC profile. (Tutorials can be found on tomshardware.com and reddit (Just search calibrating asus vg248qe). Not as good looking as a IPS panel, but no one is going to buy this for graphic design where accurate colors are a must-have. This is a gaming monitor and the inaccuracy of the colors really isnt that noticeable once calibrated.

> 24 hourThis monitor is a HUGE step up from my previous monitor, which was a generic Samsung 1440x900 60Hz 19 monitor, so I might not be able to give a great review. Basically, this monitor is pretty awesome. Asus is a great monitor maker (along with almost anything else tech related it seems) and they knew what they were doing. 24 inches is a perfect size (Im a college student living in a dorm and the monitor barely fits underneath the shelf above the desk), 1080p (which in my opinion is all you need right now since you would need to buy a much more expensive graphics card to power a higher resolution monitor) and 144Hz is just plain overkill. The stand is great with pivot, tilt, etc and all the ports are there. Why only four stars? Two things: the speakers on this monitor are horrendous. Yes, I know, they are monitor speakers, but for a gaming grade monitor a part of me wishes that they could have at least put some better front facing speakers somehow. The second thing is now that there is G-Sync and FreeSync, its hard to recommend such a high refresh rate monitor without either of these technologies. G-Sync was even developed with this specific monitor! Now G-Sync I can understand why they dont include, since the module itself is expensive (thanks Nvidia), but FreeSync is suppose to cost almost next to nothing for panel manufacturers, so I would personally recommend you wait until those monitors come out or pick a G-Sync monitor (ex ASUS Swift line) if you plan on sticking with Nvidia for a long time.

> 24 hourI was doing this A TON of reviewing before buying a monitor and finally deciding on this one. To address some other reviews with the bad image quality right out of the box or dead pixels...I don’t have any of that. I think this thing looks perfect right out of the box! I do see I’ll be changing settings depending on the game I’m playing. I do see what some reviewers describe as a glossy or smudged screen look? I guess if you have a window shining on it you’ll notice it more. I honestly don’t have a problem with it unless you really look for it and stare at it. So it’s not as bad as others claim! Games look great on it, G sync compatibility is awesome and the best part it comes with two cables hdmi and display port! Honestly if you were like me Deciding between this and any other monitor, get this!! It’s honestly a bigger screen than most of the other monitors in the 24” series and despite what people say it’s perfect right out of the box!

> 24 hourI got to start with this. This is a great monitor. Read all other reviews for more details, not much I can comment about. -- #TL;DR: Around 2 years of owning the monitor, displayport randomly gives up after PC wakes up on sleeps or screensaver for my 4th time, other ports are not in use but still functional. Warranty service covered me for my last 3 times (2 replace, 1 repair). Great service, about to request the 4th if they allow. -- The only reason why I knocked a star off, is because from time to time, the display port of the monitor will just suddenly decide to stop working. I usually sleeps my computer, rarely shuts it off unless needed to. However, so far 3 times when I wake my computer up, the display simply wont turn on. This problem only occurs on display port because HDMI and DVI sill works as intended. I tested with different PC pots, monitors, and cable and sure is the monitors issue. My first 2 warranty services simply sent me new displays, with the 3rd repaired and sent back. Now Im about to request the 4th warranty service (if they allow). This time I kept my computer on when I left for dinner, came back in 40 minutes to wake screensaver, and found the pixels on this monitor all messy while the 2nd (different) monitor is all normal (connected via HDMI). Sure tried different ports and cable, still the display port issue on monitor. For your information, my friend purchased an exact same monitor with me with almost identical PC setup, but he have not yet to experience this issue. Between each displayport failure, I assure that I did not plug/unplug the cable for more than 3 times, so it shouldnt be physically damaged.

> 24 houri went from an old office monitor to this one and i love it, the quality difference was insane. I recommend the monitor.
