The monitor Ive wanted for such a long time. 24, so larger than anything I had before (18), 3D capable, fantastic price, and just in time for my GPU upgrade for FO4 and DOOM. Its worked perfectly since I got it a few months ago, not one hiccup once I got the matching DVI cable to go with it (there are certain ones required, I used the BlueRigger DVD Make to DVI Male Digital Dual-Link Cable, I would suggest the same if you need one. The only reason I left it at 4 stars instead of 5 is, and I know this a refurbished unit, but the bezel and base are scratched up. Pretty bad, its very easily seen. I take good care of my equipment so seeing scratches on my stuff is rare so it stands out like a sore thumb. Nothing on the screen, just the bezel and stand. Screen is 100% flawless, I havent noticed any odd pixels or lighting, its been 100% perfect in operation for me. If youre on the fence about a refurbished product, I know a lot of people are, its a pretty good bet you wont have any operational issues with this, even if it is a little scuffed up. It was packed extremely well, fairly confident that unless they used it for a volleyball that shipping damaged are not likely. Came with monitor, base and mounting screws. Oddly the base allows for portrait and landscape, you can stand it up vertical if you wish, nice touch, but Im not sure why.

Im so glad my friend talked me into buying a high quality monitor for gaming. I never considered a monitor to really make much of a difference in display quality but I cant describe the difference between this and a budget monitor. The 144Hz is what I originally bought it for but the deep contrast and colors this thing offers is amazing. Unfortunately that isnt apparent without some work. The display settings out of the box are atrocious. I spent a good deal of time tweaking the settings and got to a point that I thought was acceptable, and let me tell you, ASUS couldnt make the menu navigation more unintuative if they tried. I was beginning to regret my investment a little for a while. If the colors werent bleeding, they were washed out. I had a hard time getting a good value range. The blacks just werent black enough. The whites were dull. Finally I found the settings that worked for me (almost as much as I worked for it) and I couldnt be happier. I am wowed every time I open a game. For those of you who have bought this and are struggling to find the right settings, what finally ended up working for me was just the default scenery mode setting with the sharpness set to 50. If colors seem too saturated just live with it a while and see if you change your mind. I was too used to cheap monitors to appreciate the color range at first. If youre not sure that you have the right settings try holding a magazine or textbook photo next to your monitor in a well lit room. Also try asking yourself these questions: Do you have a good value range? You want your blacks truly black and your whites nice and bright. You shouldnt be able to describe either one as gray. Is your color contrast good? Can you clearly see subtle differences in similar colors? Do textures stand out properly? Are your colors washed out? This monitor can get super bright but dont let that trick you into thinking whitened colors are okay. The colors can get deep and vibrant as well. Do your colors bleed? This most obvious around text. Dark colored text should not have a whitened border around it. Similarly, bright text should appear to be a single distinguishable color. Otherwise your sharpness is likely too high. This is also possible if you notice extra pixels around text. In the end Im incredibly satisfied with this monitor. Its just a shame I had to do so much experimentation to bring out its potential.

Update!... Avoid! The 1 button toggle on this not only makes customizing and using the menu a complete and total pain. That single button also breaks really easy.. Whoever thought of a 1 button toggle switch should be fired.. I figure this. If a monitor has a menu. there should be a button for that, then and up and down to navigate it. and to select the setting you want. There should be a button for that.... Oh and if it has more than 1 display port.. There should be a button for each.. How much did Asus save? 0.20-0.30c... I have terrible vision to begin with so dont exactly listen to me... My main complaint is that 1 button toggle. Annoying!!!! I mean, if theres 2 hdmi ports for 2 different computers/set ups.. Why cant we have 2 buttons 1 button for hdmi 1, and another button for hdmi 2... would make it way easier than having to learn and navigate a 1 button toggle menu.. I have 2 pcs. One for my daily driver, 1 for video editing and other loads.. I like to set me editing computer and switch back to the daily driver, then randomly check in on the progress.. I should have a button to just switch between without having to navigate a menu Come on asus. buttons cost what 1/10th of a penny... As for the display.. Its ok. Like I said. my eyes suck anyways.. So everything I look at sucks.. Check other reviews if you want display and picture quality.. Im not the person to really say anything about that

BOY IS THIS A NICE MONITOR. IVE NEVER USED A MONITOR THIS SIZE AND I CAN USE IT WITHOUT THE AID OF GLASSES--A REAL POSITIVE FOR ME. THE COLORS ARE EXCELLENT AND YOU CAN ATTACH IT TO YOUR COMPUTER WITH DVI, HDMI, OR A DISPLAY PORT. THE SPEED AND REFRESH RATE ARE IDEAL FOR ACTION. DO YOU KNOW THAT ASUS MAKES MOST OFTHE INNARDS OF LAPTOPS. THE GEEKS AT BEST BUY TOLD ME THAT AND THEY HAD NO REASON TO MISREPRESENT THEMSELVES. MAKES ME WONDER IF ASUS DOESNT MAKE MONITORS FOR OTHER BRANDS. THIS MONITOR IS A WINNER AND WILL BE A BEST SELLER. CHECK OUT THE REVIEWS ON YOTUBE. 9-16-2015 I reviewed all the new monitors now on the market and again settled for a second Asus VG248QE. This monitor keeps making the top 5 monitors for gaming and general use. I have no complaints with the color rendition or clarity provided by this exceptional monitor. The price has come down since last year so that is another benefit. I watched quite of few YouTube videos of monitors available and even though there are good monitors available for less money they do not have all the bells and whistles plus the 144hz that is easily obtained with DVI-D. DisplayPort will also do the same and the Newer HDMI versions 2.0 up are getting there. I recommend this monitor for all uses and it is very well built and perhaps a little heavier than some but to me that means it has good sturdy construction. The new VG278QE is just a larger version and if you want a 27 monitor I think it would be an excellent choice--little more expensive but same quality, etc.

I like it. For the price that I got it at, I really, really like it. Ive read on a lot of reviews that people dont like the finish and how it attracts dust, I personally dont mind. When I got it I thought, wow people complain so much about such a small detail. But if it matters that much to you then, I dont know then, maybe a different monitor to avoid getting annoyed by the dust it collects? It honestly doesnt collect dust that much if you dust weekly (and my pc set up is in my bedroom so a blanket + carpet flooring by comparison) For the colors that people complain about, I just went into the monitor settings and adjusted the screen color and contrast to the way I find comfortable for my eyes. I did find that the default setting when you first get it did bother my eyes a little bit. If you work with photo shop or other applications and need precise color display then I wouldnt recommend this monitor, it was specifically for gaming for me. I dont have any complaints about the monitor, other than its a bit too big for my desk set up, but I have another monitor so thats my problem. My first 144 Hz monitor, the change in experience is pretty great. Changed my life forever. Im a college student so for this upgrade I felt it was a good deal (I had wanted a pure black monitor to match the pc color scheme and the other ones in the market didnt fall in that criteria) A month into having this monitor, thats pretty much all I have to say I think; will update if I have problems later.

Ive had 1 of these for a few years and the color finally became less yellow due to aging or something. I really noticed this cuz when I got another to match the other due to Windows being crap about 2 monitors with different refresh rates, the new one was VERY noticeably more yellow than my old original one. Im not sure if itll help but Ive put discord light theme on it and have shut off screen sleep and hopefully in a week or 2 the yellow tint will go away. Im not sure how long it took for the other cuz I never really noticed that itd gotten better till I got the new one. Also I dont know if it was cuz of a bad built in HDMI splitter on the Hauppauge Colossus 2 capture card, or just the fault of the monitor, but I had an incident where there was a blue line through the screen and nothing would fix it until I completely unplugged the monitor from the wall. Now it works fine for the most part except when my computer is off for days at a time. I was out of town for almost 2 weeks and came back and the monitor was not getting a signal until I completely killed all power. Ive had to do this multiple times, I guess it could be a bad capacitor or something Im no electronics expert. Just if you have blue lines or no signal even though you are sure there should be just unplug for about 10 seconds and it should be fixed. Just hitting the power switch will not do however.

5 Star product, a must have for serious or competitive gamers! First off I have done a lot of research in trying to find the perfect gaming monitor/TV’s and gaming monitors are the way to go, make sure to get a gaming monitor not just a regular monitor, there is a difference. (I currently have Xbox 360 and also Xbox one) I have read ton of reviews and by far the people who had bad reviews on this monitor are wrong. The issues I have read about them having problems with their monitor I have had none and my friend as well has had no issues (I believe they have had defective product which they can return). Asus also has a 3 year warranty on this bad boy! Now people have said BenQ is the big boy on the block and I believe they are wrong. I have played on BenQ monitors and they really don’t compare to the value and design of Asus. Now I was also worried about the size of this monitor… YOU DON’T NEED TO BE. I have had 27, 29inch monitors and what this monitor lacks in size makes up in performance. Pros /Features– HDMI 1080P 80,000,000-1 Contrast ratio 144hz refresh rate. 1ms input lag which makes a huge difference. If you play a lot of FPS games, input lag is very important. This monitor comes with speakers which are a plus, they are a little weak for my taking, and I use turtle beach headsets when I game. GAME MODE- This monitor has a pretty cool feature called game mode where you can have crosshairs on the center of your screen, this is really good for Gear of War when you need to blind fire. Also has a game timer where you can use it for COD game types like search and destroy when you need to use a timer for a spawn. There is so much to list so little room to write. I don’t want to make this review a novel. OVERALL I love this monitor. It is one of the best on the market and I hope this review helped you out.

This monitor is hands down the best one I have ever tried. The performance is top tier. The gamefast input is insane! I feel like I can actually react! The frames go high and the colors are so vibrant. Honestly the best monitor for competitive gaming.

The hardest part about my computer set-up has been deciding on a monitor... I checked, reviewed, researched, went to stores to look, and took an awful amount of time to find a decent monitor. Finally, I decided to purchase this monitor for the 144Hz speed, dedication to gamers, and the 3 years warranty. Before I go further, I made the right choice! Once you open up the box you immediately see that you have purchased a MONITOR that will do your bidding for serious PC folk or gamers. This is not some cheap junk. It looks great! If looks could kill, they nailed it with the sleek, slim, and modern look. You can tell this is not a bargain store monitor purchase. The stand: awesome. Better than any other junk stands I have had the patience to work with. It adjusts to your liking, firm, simple, ergo, fantastic. Why dont they build all monitors stands like this? Forsake wall mounts. The monitor: FANTASTIC. Once you turn her on (the power button ROCKS) the bright blaze of sunlight will hit your eyes and enter your brain like a slap. Brightness at 100 will let you know that this monitor is capable of burning retinas at a billion candles per inch as well as massages your eyes depending on your mood or quite possibly the fact that you could use this monitor outside (not recommended) and the sun will not dare to outshine it. After the first brightness adjustment, the color on this monitor seemed fine to me, in fact, better than the POS it replaced by light years. Looked around at color recommendations and the simple ones you will find online are fine for any start-up fine tuning. Trust me, color is not an issue. I do not understand why anyone is having problems with color on this monitor... it quite simply ROCKS. 144Hz speed: At startup I went straight to adjusting the refresh frequency from the starting 60Hz to 144Hz. Why? Because this is the highlight feature of this monitor! FAST refresh is better for everything. Why hobble along a 60 mph on the freeway when you know your sports car can get 144 mph without sweating? You simply must max out the frequency for games to enable better goodness on the battlefield, not to mention anything else you do on your PC. Once you put it on 144Hz, you are now a professional PC POWER-user and dare I say it: GAMER. Yes, there is an advantage, YES!! Incredible performance. Price: Got this for the ridiculous price of $209 on a black Friday weekend sale...and then it went up to like $300 after the sale. I would still pay for the $300 on this but keep an eye out for sales that come frequently enough... so worth it. Size: 24 inches is better than 22, and someday the standard will be 27 or 28.. cant wait for the larger variants to become affordable. 24 is great however, very NICE. This monitor was thinking of you, the PC user, with muscle and power under the hood of your build. Regarding HDMI or Display Port users: Why bother? The DVI dual link cable it comes with is the baby you need to plug into your video card for 144Hz goodness. If you add another monitor, fine, deal with it. Regarding speakers: HAHAHAHAHHA, whatever. One wonders why they bothered. Monitors should not come with internal speakers because they always blow due to size constraints and placement. Ever notice how large screen TVs all have sound bars? Its because internal speakers are lame. 3 year warranty: Worth it! Nice!! Ever have a monitor die after a year or so for no reason other than it was its time? I have. Hold on to your original box, register with ASUS, and know that you can get some satisfaction when your monitor goes kaput in the next 3 years. Shipping is paid by ASUS. NICE. UPDATE 2.5 years later: Still rocking it, gaming it, videos galore. No issues or problems. Still have my original box if it twitches before 3 year warranty expires. Its my precious. Considering buying another one just like this for my work desk, so worth it! Great performance, ergo as heck, and value with this monitor!! Boom!!!!
