This monitor is amazing and plays really well. It makes games buttery smooth and the image/video quality is really good to. Would have been 5 stars for me but after just an hour of using it I noticed that there were 2 dead (green) pixels every time a dark or black screen came on. I was very disappointed upon seeing this as I would have expected better for the price paid for this. Maybe I lucked out and got defective one.

This is probably one of THE most popular gaming monitors right now, as it has been referenced time and time again on the PC forums. This is the monitor to go with if you are after certain expectations, with little (fixable) drawbacks that you need to worry with. BUY IF: If you want to step up your gaming beyond 60 FPS Your needs support 1080p vs 1440p vs 4k Your space supports 24 > monitor size only You want to dabble with 3D Gaming now or later Skip IF: Your GPU Can not processes > 60 FPS Your wanting to go into 1440P or 4k gaming soon You NEVER have the intentions of using Nvidia 3D You use AMD GPUs. Currently, I am running three of these monitors with Nvidia surround technology loaded, as well as Nvidia 3D running on certain games. By itself, this monitor is simply superb, I even attached my xbox one to it and found it more enjoyable to game on versus my 47 or 60 TVs (personal preference perhaps). The trick about this monitor that you must accept is, if you plan to use it at 144hz, you need to know that your GPU can handle the frame rates required. It takes a lot of horse power to get up in frame rates on some of the newer AAA titles like Call of Duty Black ops III (horrible optimization at the moment), Witcher 3, Just Cause 3, SW Battlefront, etc. If your GPU is running an Nvidia 970 or < you will be fine. If you are planning to push 120fps with a 960, or anything lower than this, you will have to turn down a bit of settings to make it happen (no AA, dynamic shadows, god rays, etc). My setup - i7 4790k Devils Canyon (OCd 4.7ghz 24/7) (Liquid cooled) SLI (dual) GTX 970 (OCd to 1550 / 8100 @ 1.275V) Asus Hero VII Maximus MOBO Results in all games maxed out with greater than 120 fps on a single display. In Surround. . . Black Ops III ~ 110 fps with all settings on Medium to high Witcher 3 ~ 60 fps on High preset (extremely demanding) Battlefield 4 ~ 120 fps locked all settings ultra Diablo 3 ~ 120 FPS locked max settings The downsides mentioned. . . Thick bezels. but you know this going in - there are plenty of thinner options out there, but none at this price point with this feature set. Horrid color calibration out of the box - youll need a new color profile ASAP. I used the x-rite ColorMunki calibration tool and sunk all 3 monitors in order to match profiles. AFTER this, the monitors look EXCELLENT and are able to match printed colors.

Note: My old monitor was a 24inch Samsung widscreen monitor with a 3000:1 contrast ratio. This is an absolute beautiful monitor! The colors are vibrant and everything looks so smooth and crisp. The first time I plugged it in I just started at my desktop background for a couple minutes, and then started browsing pictures on the internet. It was truly a whole new experience. My friend came over a couple days after I had installed it, and he was blown away too. Games, internet, movies, photos, all look amazing. Youre going to see a lot more detail that you missed before, even if you had a similar sized monitor. The 144hrz of the monitor means 144fps, compared with the conventional 60-75 hrz (60-75 fps). If you play the latest games, and are a huge gamer, you probably wont be able to notice a difference in framerate, since the target fps is around 40-60 with your video card. But if you play older games that support higher frame rates, or you play games at lower quality to get 100~ fps, then this will be a huge jump. MAKE SURE TO SET YOUR DISPLAY OPTIONS TO 144HRZ TO EXPERIENCE IT PROPERLY! One thing to note when handling the monitor: When tilting it 90 degrees, from landscape to portrait, If its too low you can scratch the pristine base. Make sure to lift up the monitor as high as possible before rotating it. I scratched mine sadly. :( If you want to do 3D, you are going to have to buy special Nvidia 3D glasses and youll need an Nvidia compatible video card. The glasses are around $50-$100, and the card could go well above $200. I already have the card, and I hope to buy the glasses soon.

I am amazed at this monitors quality and specs. There is a reason I waited forever to get this monitor. I literally was on a waiting list for a month and the date on mine is January and I purchased this in March 2015. My main thing is gaming with a high end single gpu video card, so I wanted a monitor to take care of that. This thing delivers with the 144hz refresh rate. The colors were washed out, but a single download of the ICC profile and this thing has beautiful color. Simply google VG248QE ICC and you will find what your looking for. I would not take an good 60hz IPS monitor over this simply because of the 1ms GTG and 144hz. That should speak for itself if your a gamer like I am. Also I want give Asus credit on the monitor stand for this. It is superb design with its horizontal swivel, height adjustment, and vertical swivel. If your an enthusiast who is looking at this monitor, then this has the right amount of specs to make you happy. The only con I can think of right now is the lack of peripherals for connection. You do not get any HDMI (which will not give 144hz refresh) or display port (high refresh rate). I had to purchase my display port cable separate which isnt a big deal, but at least I got a 3ft Dvi cable with this monitor to at least use until my display port cable arrives. The included Dvi cable will provide that 144 hz refresh rate if your video card does not have display port.

To start off, I will say that I am coming from a 7 year old LG (1650x1050 2ms/60Hz) LCD monitor....so, obviously the technology has advanced during that time frame. After researching LCD/LED monitors, especially for gaming purposes - it boiled down to the BenQ and the Asus. I chose the Asus due to the fact that there are more users and AsusTek is more of a household name when compared to BenQ. Even though both monitors use the exact same TN panel I thought it prudent to go with the Asus due to their 3 year warranty...which just sweetens the deal. Upon unboxing the monitor, I noticed how much thinner the LED panel is when compared to my 7 year old LG. Lighter too. I set it up, plugged in the power cable and crossed my fingers that there would be no dead pixels. Bam! Like looking into a lighthouse. It was bright! But ZERO dead/stuck pixels anywhere on the 24 inch panel. I was very pleased with that aspect but I then faced what other reviewers have stated - washed out colors. Its definitely not a pretty image straight out of the box but one has to realize that everyones eyesight is different and personal preference does play a role. I proceeded to download the ICC profile from www.pcmonitors.info and followed their instructions. Worked like a charm. I have the desktop resolution set to 1920x1080@144Hz and its simply amazing the difference between a 60Hz monitor and a higher refresh monitor. One has to sit down in front of it to truly appreciate the difference. It also works wonders under FPS-style games like BF3 and BF4 as well as War Thunder. Very, very nice. Have not had enough time yet to experience the full gaming experience with this monitor and I will follow-up with a write-up on that. In the meantime, I will state that I am very pleased with the monitor, the colors, the refresh rate, etc. Maybe I lucked out that there were no dead/stuck pixels but I think that the probabilities are that QA at Asus will catch the majority of them before they hit the distribution channels. UPDATE - 01/25/2014 - So, I have had this monitor for a solid 4 days and I continue to be impressed. Performs perfectly under Battlefield 3 and 4, War Thunder (simply AMAZING visuals), Payday 2, Far Cry 3, etc. For those complaining about the colors being washed out...Id recommend downloading the ICC file and then working off of that especially using Nvidia color vibrance controls. Makes a world of difference. Unfortunately, some games misbehave and take complete ownership of the colors and some additional in-game tweaking is in order but its worth it. 5 Stars through and through folks...you wont go wrong with this monitor. For the price/performance...get this monitor...you cannot go wrong!

Fantastic resultion and image quality. It integrates seamlessly with NVIDIAs 3d Vision platform and impresses the hell out of me. When you do set up the monitor, make sure that it is recognized as an ASUS VG248QE and not the actual LCD panels name. If that shows up, download the drivers from ASUSs website to ensure that the monitor is recognized. Two problems arose during operation though. First is the baddie; The power button sometimes refuses to turn on the monitor. It stays black. Im forced to power cycle the monitor via power cable, then the power button lights up and responds. This is an erratic issue and perhaps a design glitch. That entitled one star off with justification and thats being nice about it. The second is the adjustable height. At any time, do not have anything under the monitor or on the stand itself. If the monitor is presses down at the top, it will come down on top of anything that is on the stand and may damage either the item or the monitor itself! I put a big label on my stand that says KEEP THINGS OFF ME to remind me and anyone else not to wind up getting their stuff crunched. I nearly lost a good set of $300 computer reading glasses (titanium frame, thankyouverymuch) that way. It integrates in with an older Samsung quite well. Ive had to run the MS color calibration wizard a few times to get things right and I can barely tell the difference between the two. I run a 3D Matrix screen saver and at night it is very engrossing and addictive. If ASUS does takes note of the glitch with the power button, they can feel free to contact me directly so we can discuss and perhaps diagnose this headache.

Bought as a gift. Picture is very crisp. Easy to connect. Son is pleased with the monitor.

If youre a gamer and youre looking for a monitor, dont look any further; from one gamer to another: buy this, you will not regret it. Dont gimp your high performance setup and expensive hardware with a 60Hz monitor. If youre running current top-end GPUs and pushing frame rates over 60 FPS, if your refresh rate doesnt match your frame rate, youre going to have issues. The biggest thing Id like to push is the fact this monitor is not only built for gamers, it also looks amazing, do not in any way be dissuaded by reviews stating this monitor looks horrible, or has bad color. The capability for adding 3D and Nvidia G-Sync is also a great option to have. Ive seen some reviews on various websites that state this monitor looks washed out and other such cons, but Ive seen no such issues. Out of the box stock settings admittedly look bad; however these are just OEM default settings. A few minutes spent in the menu tweaking contrast, brightness, color correction etc., gets this monitor looking absolutely gorgeous. Some people recommend downloading ICC color profiles and jumping through hoops to try and make this look good. Bottom line: it isnt necessary. If you want to follow one of those guides, download a color profile and do all that, its your choice. But honestly, in less than 5 minutes you can have this monitor adjusted to your liking and looking great on your own just by adjusting some menu options. I used a Envy 17-3D gaming laptop for years with HPs LCD-LED display,and this Asus blows it out of the water by a country mile. I cant understand why some people write bad reviews for an item without fully testing it out first, and at the very least adjusting menu options. I paid $250 for this, and for a monitor under 300 dollars, I couldnt be more impressed with the features, and the visual quality. This is a gaming monitor built with gamers in mind. The vast majority of bad reviews stating this is a monitor with bad visuals are from people wanting to compare a $250 TN panel meant for gaming with monitors not built for gaming and 3 times the price. This monitor boasts a 144Hz refresh, 1ms GTG lag, amazing contrast ratio, availability for G-Sync & 3D upgrades, Gameplus features built in and other gamer-centric features. Comparing this to IPS monitors with only 60 Hz refresh rates, 10+ms GTG, input lag and cost anywhere from $500 dollars to well over $1,000, is far from correct. On top of being an amazing gaming monitor that will show no ghosting, artifacting or screen tearing and built in features for gamers, for a TN panel monitor this looks amazing. In my opinion during routine everyday PC use, and for gaming, youll see no noticeable difference in color and visual performance with this TN panel than you will higher priced lower performance IPS monitors. Finding a monitor that does gaming well, as well as have great visuals is a hard find, but this does it and it does it for a great price. The 24 monitor is large enough that you get a great view, yet not so large you have to constantly move your head side to side to see everything, or have to sit far away from the monitor just to get it all in your field of view. It has a good solid base, and a bracket for cable management on the back of monitor. The monitor swivels, it tilts, it pivots, it has height adjustment and you can flip the monitor for either a page orientation of 16:9 widescreen or a portrait orientation. So no matter your setup or how you sit at your PC, this monitor can be set for maximum comfort and best viewing. ** IMPORTANT: First, be sure your GPU has a DisplayPort I/O so you are able to use a DP cable to connect this to your GPU if you want the full range of performance this monitor offers. *DO NOT USE* HDMI or DVI with this monitor! If you use HDMI or DVI with this screen, you will not be getting or seeing the performance you paid for. Neither HDMI nor DIV/DVI-D are capable of full HD at more than 60 FPS (60Hz). The majority of the reason for going with this monitor is the superior 144Hz refresh, 1ms GTG, and no discernible input lag. Thus allowing high FPS with no graphical issues. If you want to be able to use your monitor at 144Hz, if you want to be able to run 100+ FPS and not suffer blurring, ghosting, artifacting, or screen tearing, and you want the best viewing experience and performance, DisplayPort MUST be used. This monitor only comes packaged with a DVI-D cable and audio cable, and does not come packaged with a DisplayPort cable; so be sure to pick up a VESA certified DisplayPort along with this monitor.

This is the best monitor I have ever owned , My previous monitor was only 60 HZ with 1ms responce time ,My computer I put together is above average running a 8 core processor 32 GB memory EVGA motherboard ,EVGA 2070 gaming GPU and 2-TB solid state sansung , I used a high Quality display cable to connect from monitor to GPU and I have logged about 12 hours of game play with this monitor , playing Assassin Creed valhalla and its absolutly the best I have ever had , great colors very smooth and clear , I never knew how much vegatation is in this game till now , One of the things I used to struggle with are the stupid tattos you have to chase , Well not any more I captured like three of them in about ten minutes , they are a lot easier to see and follow now , Combat and everything else is much better , I read a lot of negative reviews about the color , But this monitor has great color for my setup , I have no complaints , early mornings /high noon /afternoons and night all are very real , Cloud cover /sunshine/ rain /fog/wind/ fire /smoke/sunrise/sunset all great on my build , I may just be lucky , But I am happy with this monitor !
