Since Amazon lumps multiple models together on one review list, and search results eliminate the section which identifies which model is being reviewed: This is for the ASUS VG248QE 24 Full HD 1920x1080 144Hz 1ms HDMI Gaming Monitor. It also has Display Port (DP) and DVI-D Dual Link (although I thought it is DVI-I Dual Link, but I dont want to unhook the cable to verify, so Ill go with the listing details). Last purchased Feb 2, 2014, Style: 24 FHD 1ms 144Hz Height Adjustable | Pattern Name: Gaming Monitor After owning this monitor for nearly NINE YEARS, I am still very pleased by it. Overall, there is a lot to like, and not much to dislike about this monitor. I primarily use it for gaming, working, and other typical computer use. The image is crisp, the colors are vivid, the blacks are deep, and can be made even deeper using ASCR, there is barely any backlight bleeding, ZERO dead pixels (no green, black, or bright pixels - nothing at all wrong with the image), fast 1ms response time, high 144hz refresh rate - there really is very much to like. (Other than something I did - my own fault - to slightly damage the surface with a sharp object one time about 7 years ago) the monitor is visually and cosmetically flawless. I only have two very small complaints after almost a decade of constant use: 1. The frame on the top is just barely starting to lift off the top in a short portion of the middle, and occasionally allows a bit of the backlight to shine through - but even this issue, I think, is going away after I have worked on pushing the frame back in place and it seems to no longer have the issue anymore. It might also have to do with temperature differences due to changing seasons resulting in slight expanding or contracting of the material. Really not a big deal, and almost not worth mentioning, but I want to give an honest, fair, and complete review. 2. The height adjustment has recently (within the last year or so - i.e. after about 8 years of use) started to lose its ability to hold the monitor at its position. However, this comes with three pertinent caveats: - First, my wife and daughter very often use my computer when I am away and move the monitor down, and then I have to move it back up when I get back, so it experiences a lot of wear and tear. - Second, I have my very heavy Logitech gaming headset conveniently hanging on the back of the monitor (because it has such a perfectly shaped section which, although probably not designed for this, perfectly holds my headset in place) which significantly adds to the overall weight of the monitor hanging on the height-adjustment mechanism. - Third, even with the problem existing, by moving the monitor to the desired position and holding it in place for a few moments, it will typically hold its position, even with the heavy headset hanging on the back. So, thats it. No other cons. I havent read many of the other reviews, but I did see something about color issues: this is fairly easily addressable via monitor settings, and if needed, Nvidia Control Center settings (or the equivalent AMD settings). Also, if you have any issues with Ghosting, I suggest adjusting your Trace Free setting to either 60 or 80. I advise not using 100, as that seems to overcorrect the issue and introduce inverse ghosting, if I recall correctly from previous testing. Setting it too low (i.e. 40 or below) doesnt seem to correct it enough, but it could work for some people. The only reason I am shopping around for another monitor at this point is because my wifes monitor (different brand/model) died and so I am giving her this monitor. Otherwise, I would plan to just keep using this monitor for years to come. I highly recommend buying this monitor.

If you are looking to upgrade from a 60 hz monitor or considering getting a graphics card but sticking with a lower quality monitor, take this monitor into consideration. I say this because upgrading to a better monitor, whether it is for gaming, work, or general use, a monitor has a huge impact quality-wise. You will notice a difference without having to change any of your computers internal hardware. This monitor is a great upgrade for most gamers. You will notice a huge improvement in detail just by getting rid of that outdated one you are using with your current computer. If you do want to get this, I would highly recommend having a graphics card/motherboard that supports DisplayPort video out connections. This allows you to utilize the 144 hz refresh rate the monitor is built for. I personally like this monitor so much, I bought a second one a year or two after I purchased the first (I multitask a lot). So far they have run well for years (countless hours of gaming, watching movies/tv shows via streaming services, and web browsing) without issues. My recommendation is, if you do plan on getting this monitor, wait for a sale and get the best deal you can.

Simply put, this is the best gaming monintor Ive ever used. I wanted a high refresh rate (120-144hz) and low response time monitor to take advantage of my computer rig featuring an EVGA GTX 670 and i5 3570K processor and the high frame rates it is capable of producing. Mission accomplished! Pros: -Smoothness: Ran through a bunch of my games (BF3, Dirt 3, Mafia II, Medal of Honor, Far Cry 3) and the 144hz smoothness is undescribeably more smooth than my HP 60hz monitor was every capable of producing. No more motion blur during quick movement, no more sreen tearing when frame rates go above 60 fps. -No more V-sync: To avoid screen tearing in the past, I would have to turn v-sync on in my games. That produced noticeable input lag in most games I played. With this high refresh rate, you no longer have to turn V-sync on. -Bright: Perhaps too bright out of the box, but enjoying the LED backlight -Assembly: Very easy and quick to assemble. Beautiful looking, sturdy stand with tons of adjustments (height, pivot, tilt, you name it.) -Matte finish: I know some prefer a glossy screen for supposed better picture quality, but not having a monitor acting like a mirror is a huge plus for me. -3D Vision 2 capable: Havent tested 3D yet because I dont own the 3D vision kit yet (sold separately) but I do plan to get it soon. -Price: 280 here on Amazon with free shipping! Nothing else like it in the price bracket. Bigger Asus monitor and 24 Benq monitors that feature similar specs are 390-500. Cons: -I dont belive you can do 3D through HDMI input (If you can please correct me) so Id dont believe I can play 3D games and Blu-Rays with my PS3 on this. -You need a high end video card to push enough frames to make this worth it. Have at least a GTX 660Ti or similar to be able to push above 60 FPS to get the biggest benefit of this monitor. Even with a GTX 670, I had to turn down a few settings/reduce AA to get frame rates in the low 100s. Might look to SLI my GTX 670 in the future to ensure 120 FPS and buttery smooth gameplay when I go 3D. -Color and viewing angles are not as good as on other forms of LCDs (IPS panels, etc) but I dont do photo editing or plan on watching many movies on this, so that doesnt bother me. Understand going into it that this is a gaming monitor first and foremost, and you are buying this for the 144 refresh rate, 1 ms response time, and 3D Vision 2 Lightboost capabilites. Only had it for 1 day, but I am very satisified with this so far. Cant wait to go 3D and enter the 3rd dimension!

Monitor review will begin with a * infront. So let me first start off by saying this is my 2nd Asus VG248QE. The first one was delivered but within 10 mins of being on my step, police think someone followed the delivery truck and jacked it. It arrived apparently with the monitor not in another box but just a big box with a handle displaying your beautiful monitor. Niceee. So I now have no monitor. After 3 days investigation with USPS and Amazon and the Local PD. We conclude that it was stolen right under my nose while I was home and on my way to grab the box after hearing my text alert. Amazon, thank you again for being 5 star and not only handling this matter but sending me a replacement. I have it now. Its setup and Im just so thrilled. Its beautiful and Im blown away by the clarity. Amazon I will be a customer for life for your awesome and understanding service representatives. Conclusion! Watch packages carefully and set up custom delivery instructions or a safety box to deliver your merchandise safe and sound to prevent this. I bought ring cameras with solar that are rechargeable, wireless, and 1080p. You can get them on Amazon aswell for 220 roughly. Theft wont occur ever again at my step! *monitor is heavy but light. Its a solid quality build. No dead pixels. The visuals are night and day and I was using a pretty good fairly new 60 inch by sharp aquos with 4k. I actually see how a smaller monitor is better for fps! And my oh my do I love this monitor. And yes it flips sideways! All in all. Just buy this one!! I purchased this monitor on April 10th, 2014 and received it on April 17th. Im going to go over what I liked and do not like about it. I owned a Ben-Q XL2420T 120HZ monitor prior to this unit, so I will be comparing both of them according to performance and price. First Ill talk about 144hz compared to 60hz for those who do not know: 144Hz is a way of describing how many times the image on your monitor refreshes every second. 60hz means that the image you see on your monitor is relayed from your computer to your monitor 60 times per second, and 144hz means 144 times per second. Basically you see more then double the amount of information your graphics card is processing with a 144hz monitor compared to a 60hz monitor. NOTE: If you are looking to purchase this monitor for console gaming, there are better alternatives. You will not be able to utilize the 144hz feature. Consoles only put out 30-60 frames per second, so a 60Hz monitor is all you need. Now on to the review Pros- -144 Hz is amazing. There is no ghosting when making fast movements in high action games. The increased amount of frames you are able to see gives you an extremely good edge against your opponent. -Perfect screen size for me. The 24 inch screen allows me to have a good field of view in the games that I play so I dont miss valuable information, but isnt so large that I need to constantly scan with my eyes to be aware of the image on the screen. -Good physical size. The circular base of the stand measures roughly 9 inches, so it doesnt take up more desk space than it needs. -PRICE!!!!!!! I paid about 500 USD for my Ben-Q XL2420T. This monitor has 24 more Hz than the benq, similar build quality, and costs about half as much. At 279.99, this is the best monitor I have ever purchased. Cons- -The colors out of the box are a little bland, but with proper tweaking I found color settings that worked well for the games I play. All in all, this is an amazing monitor, the price is right, the features are worth more to me than the price. 5 stars.

I was doing this A TON of reviewing before buying a monitor and finally deciding on this one. To address some other reviews with the bad image quality right out of the box or dead pixels...I don’t have any of that. I think this thing looks perfect right out of the box! I do see I’ll be changing settings depending on the game I’m playing. I do see what some reviewers describe as a glossy or smudged screen look? I guess if you have a window shining on it you’ll notice it more. I honestly don’t have a problem with it unless you really look for it and stare at it. So it’s not as bad as others claim! Games look great on it, G sync compatibility is awesome and the best part it comes with two cables hdmi and display port! Honestly if you were like me Deciding between this and any other monitor, get this!! It’s honestly a bigger screen than most of the other monitors in the 24” series and despite what people say it’s perfect right out of the box!

Brightness/Contrast - wow, its greats for the movies and games that you might enjoy the contrast and brightness ratios that it offers. Stand - pivots and rotates for those who like the option to flip their screen 144 HZ - Amazing for gaming and you need some decent gpu setup to even make use of the 144 hz. Its only the downside, but you can always pickup a cheaper 60 hz monitor. Sound - Not too many monitors do the whole integrated speakers too often, which works great for consoles that you plug into the monitor and it has a headphone so you dont bother others. 3d support - Granted it works should you have the right 3d glasses to work for games and movies, but it when it does; its great. Settings - take a bit of time to adjust the screen, so it doesnt bother your eyes that much. Just wished you could set your own predefined settings that you could switch easily. Like the game/night view, standard, and rgb modes. The monitor is seeming to fail, and it has been flashing white constantly lately. Not really sure whats going on here. Had the monitor for at least 6 months and now it seems to do this while gaming or watching a movie. Looked up to see if anyone else is having this issue. Not really much on it. Probably going to need to get a replacement soon. Well, the screen acts up and in which there is alot of flickering going on and then seemingly just stops. Update: 1/29 The warranty - is so slow. Like one to two weeks to get a replacement sent out after you send in your old monitor. Advanced replacement can be sent out on your behalf; well if you want a 250 charge on your card. Advanced replacement still takes one to weeks; irregardless of sending in the monitor and then waiting the one to weeks out. Any who, rma process is supposed to take two to three day, then you use the fedex shipping that asus gives you. Of course asus covers shipping fees, which is nice not too worry about. Wish there was an expedited shipping on the advanced replacement or returning process. Probably at least a month without a monitor sucks, but at least the warranty will cover this.

This is my 3rd ASUS monitor. The first two were purchased years ago for a dual screen setup. This was my first experience with a 144hz monitor (the previous monitors were only 60hz) and all I can say is What a difference! Games were fantastic with my GPU set to 144hz refresh rate. Fast scrolling through webpages looks like Im literally moving a long piece of paper. The page isnt choppy at all. I wish I would have had the funds to go 1 step further and get the 4k monitor from ASUS. The stand is great. Easy height adjustment with just slight pressure up or down. Plenty of tilt and rotation as well as being able to rotate the monitor vertically 90 degress which would be great for coding. It seems quite stable as monitors go as well.If you get any wobble from typing/gaming its probably due to the quality of the desk it sits on and not the stand. Mine doesnt move even a little on my desk. If it matters, the buttons are on the bottom (my previous ASUS monitors were this way as well). The big difference with these buttons is that the power button is more protruded than the others (both the buttons on this monitor and the buttons previously used by ASUS) and it lights up which combined makes it easy to locate by both feel and sight. Switching between view settings is easy. It comes with pre-set views optimized for different uses. Or you can customize it to whatever you would like. If you dont have your heart set on 4k or the AMD/Nvidia plugins, you will not go wrong with this monitor. Its a great buy and I highly recommend ASUS monitors for their price/performance.
