Definitely the best monitor I have ever used. I would say this is tied with my mouse (deathadder 2013, huge upgrade from my s***ty stock mouse) as the best upgrade Ive gotten for my gaming setup so far. Even moving the cursor from this to my 60hz display on the side of it you can see noticable mouse lag. The 1ms input lag for this display, in addition to the 120hz and lightboost (greatest thing ever, incredibly clear movement) there is almost no lag at all in what youre seeing. I play competitive tf2 in the esea, and I can pretty safely say this has let me improve a lot. Though I was decently good before I got this, I feel like I have a MUCH better visability and grasp of movement/aiming with this. Its really like going from a tiny little SD television to a giant flat screen HD, everything is so much clearer and visible. The one downside I have found is the colors and scan lines. Without lightboost the colors are great, you can find a couple sites with drivers and special settings to use for this monitor, however with lightboost on everything is washed out and purple tinted. Ive gotten used to it but it may be a surprise at first. Ive been using the program flux which changes the color temperature by time of day to try and offset this and it looks much mroe natural now. With lightboost as well you can see visable scan lines across the screen. You can probably look up google images or threads about it to see examples. Im not sure if mine is just faulty or all of them do this but it is not that big of a deal, unless you have the monitor right in front of your face. Love the adjustable height and swivel, power button is really easy to hit haha and the built in timers and crosshairs are pretty cool.

I am amazed at this monitors quality and specs. There is a reason I waited forever to get this monitor. I literally was on a waiting list for a month and the date on mine is January and I purchased this in March 2015. My main thing is gaming with a high end single gpu video card, so I wanted a monitor to take care of that. This thing delivers with the 144hz refresh rate. The colors were washed out, but a single download of the ICC profile and this thing has beautiful color. Simply google VG248QE ICC and you will find what your looking for. I would not take an good 60hz IPS monitor over this simply because of the 1ms GTG and 144hz. That should speak for itself if your a gamer like I am. Also I want give Asus credit on the monitor stand for this. It is superb design with its horizontal swivel, height adjustment, and vertical swivel. If your an enthusiast who is looking at this monitor, then this has the right amount of specs to make you happy. The only con I can think of right now is the lack of peripherals for connection. You do not get any HDMI (which will not give 144hz refresh) or display port (high refresh rate). I had to purchase my display port cable separate which isnt a big deal, but at least I got a 3ft Dvi cable with this monitor to at least use until my display port cable arrives. The included Dvi cable will provide that 144 hz refresh rate if your video card does not have display port.

Great budget monitor, I cant BELIEVE the difference this made. Just 2 problems Ive found; My Displayport, which is what u want to use to get the 144hz out of your GPU, was showing no signal, I would plug in to HDMI and it worked fine, I figured it was the my DP cable so I bought a new one. The new cable did not fix the problem, I thought it was the GPU, unplugged and went to onboard DP port, still no signal. So now Im thinking its the port on the monitor!! In a last ditch effort before contacting ASUS product support, I unplugged the power cable and held the power button down for 15sec, I plugged it back in and turned it on on the DP source and lo and BEHOLD its ALIVE! Take note of that process if youre contemplating a purchasing this item. Second, I play games on both PC and console, the PC looks flawless in HD no matter what frequency I run at (60,120,144hz), my PS4 on the other other hand, looks great but I can see red specs or red pixels floating around. I dont know what the deal is with that, but it doesnt do it on my other HD monitor (an older ALIENWARE). If youre buying this SOLELY to console game dont, If youre buying it to get more out of your GPU on PC its GREAT! I suggest upgrading the monitor before upgrading the GPU.

Note: My old monitor was a 24inch Samsung widscreen monitor with a 3000:1 contrast ratio. This is an absolute beautiful monitor! The colors are vibrant and everything looks so smooth and crisp. The first time I plugged it in I just started at my desktop background for a couple minutes, and then started browsing pictures on the internet. It was truly a whole new experience. My friend came over a couple days after I had installed it, and he was blown away too. Games, internet, movies, photos, all look amazing. Youre going to see a lot more detail that you missed before, even if you had a similar sized monitor. The 144hrz of the monitor means 144fps, compared with the conventional 60-75 hrz (60-75 fps). If you play the latest games, and are a huge gamer, you probably wont be able to notice a difference in framerate, since the target fps is around 40-60 with your video card. But if you play older games that support higher frame rates, or you play games at lower quality to get 100~ fps, then this will be a huge jump. MAKE SURE TO SET YOUR DISPLAY OPTIONS TO 144HRZ TO EXPERIENCE IT PROPERLY! One thing to note when handling the monitor: When tilting it 90 degrees, from landscape to portrait, If its too low you can scratch the pristine base. Make sure to lift up the monitor as high as possible before rotating it. I scratched mine sadly. :( If you want to do 3D, you are going to have to buy special Nvidia 3D glasses and youll need an Nvidia compatible video card. The glasses are around $50-$100, and the card could go well above $200. I already have the card, and I hope to buy the glasses soon.

Simply put, this is the best gaming monintor Ive ever used. I wanted a high refresh rate (120-144hz) and low response time monitor to take advantage of my computer rig featuring an EVGA GTX 670 and i5 3570K processor and the high frame rates it is capable of producing. Mission accomplished! Pros: -Smoothness: Ran through a bunch of my games (BF3, Dirt 3, Mafia II, Medal of Honor, Far Cry 3) and the 144hz smoothness is undescribeably more smooth than my HP 60hz monitor was every capable of producing. No more motion blur during quick movement, no more sreen tearing when frame rates go above 60 fps. -No more V-sync: To avoid screen tearing in the past, I would have to turn v-sync on in my games. That produced noticeable input lag in most games I played. With this high refresh rate, you no longer have to turn V-sync on. -Bright: Perhaps too bright out of the box, but enjoying the LED backlight -Assembly: Very easy and quick to assemble. Beautiful looking, sturdy stand with tons of adjustments (height, pivot, tilt, you name it.) -Matte finish: I know some prefer a glossy screen for supposed better picture quality, but not having a monitor acting like a mirror is a huge plus for me. -3D Vision 2 capable: Havent tested 3D yet because I dont own the 3D vision kit yet (sold separately) but I do plan to get it soon. -Price: 280 here on Amazon with free shipping! Nothing else like it in the price bracket. Bigger Asus monitor and 24 Benq monitors that feature similar specs are 390-500. Cons: -I dont belive you can do 3D through HDMI input (If you can please correct me) so Id dont believe I can play 3D games and Blu-Rays with my PS3 on this. -You need a high end video card to push enough frames to make this worth it. Have at least a GTX 660Ti or similar to be able to push above 60 FPS to get the biggest benefit of this monitor. Even with a GTX 670, I had to turn down a few settings/reduce AA to get frame rates in the low 100s. Might look to SLI my GTX 670 in the future to ensure 120 FPS and buttery smooth gameplay when I go 3D. -Color and viewing angles are not as good as on other forms of LCDs (IPS panels, etc) but I dont do photo editing or plan on watching many movies on this, so that doesnt bother me. Understand going into it that this is a gaming monitor first and foremost, and you are buying this for the 144 refresh rate, 1 ms response time, and 3D Vision 2 Lightboost capabilites. Only had it for 1 day, but I am very satisified with this so far. Cant wait to go 3D and enter the 3rd dimension!

It also has Display Port (DP) and DVI-D Dual Link (although I thought it is DVI-I Dual Link, but I dont want to unhook the cable to verify, so Ill go with the listing details). Last purchased Feb 2, 2014, Style: 24 FHD 1ms 144Hz Height Adjustable | Pattern Name: Gaming Monitor After owning this monitor for nearly NINE YEARS, I am still very pleased by it. Overall, there is a lot to like, and not much to dislike about this monitor. I primarily use it for gaming, working, and other typical computer use. The image is crisp, the colors are vivid, the blacks are deep, and can be made even deeper using ASCR, there is barely any backlight bleeding, ZERO dead pixels (no green, black, or bright pixels - nothing at all wrong with the image), fast 1ms response time, high 144hz refresh rate - there really is very much to like. (Other than something I did - my own fault - to slightly damage the surface with a sharp object one time about 7 years ago) the monitor is visually and cosmetically flawless. I only have two very small complaints after almost a decade of constant use: 1. The frame on the top is just barely starting to lift off the top in a short portion of the middle, and occasionally allows a bit of the backlight to shine through - but even this issue, I think, is going away after I have worked on pushing the frame back in place and it seems to no longer have the issue anymore. It might also have to do with temperature differences due to changing seasons resulting in slight expanding or contracting of the material. Really not a big deal, and almost not worth mentioning, but I want to give an honest, fair, and complete review. 2. The height adjustment has recently (within the last year or so - i.e. after about 8 years of use) started to lose its ability to hold the monitor at its position. However, this comes with three pertinent caveats: - First, my wife and daughter very often use my computer when I am away and move the monitor down, and then I have to move it back up when I get back, so it experiences a lot of wear and tear. - Second, I have my very heavy Logitech gaming headset conveniently hanging on the back of the monitor (because it has such a perfectly shaped section which, although probably not designed for this, perfectly holds my headset in place) which significantly adds to the overall weight of the monitor hanging on the height-adjustment mechanism. - Third, even with the problem existing, by moving the monitor to the desired position and holding it in place for a few moments, it will typically hold its position, even with the heavy headset hanging on the back. So, thats it. No other cons. I havent read many of the other reviews, but I did see something about color issues: this is fairly easily addressable via monitor settings, and if needed, Nvidia Control Center settings (or the equivalent AMD settings). Also, if you have any issues with Ghosting, I suggest adjusting your Trace Free setting to either 60 or 80. I advise not using 100, as that seems to overcorrect the issue and introduce inverse ghosting, if I recall correctly from previous testing. Setting it too low (i.e. 40 or below) doesnt seem to correct it enough, but it could work for some people. The only reason I am shopping around for another monitor at this point is because my wifes monitor (different brand/model) died and so I am giving her this monitor. Otherwise, I would plan to just keep using this monitor for years to come. I highly recommend buying this monitor.

5 Star product, a must have for serious or competitive gamers! First off I have done a lot of research in trying to find the perfect gaming monitor/TV’s and gaming monitors are the way to go, make sure to get a gaming monitor not just a regular monitor, there is a difference. (I currently have Xbox 360 and also Xbox one) I have read ton of reviews and by far the people who had bad reviews on this monitor are wrong. The issues I have read about them having problems with their monitor I have had none and my friend as well has had no issues (I believe they have had defective product which they can return). Asus also has a 3 year warranty on this bad boy! Now people have said BenQ is the big boy on the block and I believe they are wrong. I have played on BenQ monitors and they really don’t compare to the value and design of Asus. Now I was also worried about the size of this monitor… YOU DON’T NEED TO BE. I have had 27, 29inch monitors and what this monitor lacks in size makes up in performance. Pros /Features– HDMI 1080P 80,000,000-1 Contrast ratio 144hz refresh rate. 1ms input lag which makes a huge difference. If you play a lot of FPS games, input lag is very important. This monitor comes with speakers which are a plus, they are a little weak for my taking, and I use turtle beach headsets when I game. GAME MODE- This monitor has a pretty cool feature called game mode where you can have crosshairs on the center of your screen, this is really good for Gear of War when you need to blind fire. Also has a game timer where you can use it for COD game types like search and destroy when you need to use a timer for a spawn. There is so much to list so little room to write. I don’t want to make this review a novel. OVERALL I love this monitor. It is one of the best on the market and I hope this review helped you out.

Clean install of Windows 10 w/ an EVGA 2080TI had random display freezing issues. The exact same system ran w/o issues on 3 BenQ monitors. Upgrading to Windows 11 did not address the issue. These ASUS displays (3 of them) would appear frozen but the Windows Event log would show that the computer was running just fine. I tried swapping out the graphic card, DP cables (bought thicker gauges, shorter lengths, w/ propper pinning), lowered refresh rates, and did the whole dance of making sure the latest chipset/graphics card/etc. drivers were installed. After a few weeks of trying different things, disabling G-Sync cured the issue. Not sure if it is because there is no driver for the display, I have too many connected (3), or what. It is disappointing, but at a 165hz refresh rate, I dont know if disabling G-Sync will matter. Also, these monitors seem to take a slightly longer time to wake from sleep compared to my other 3-monitor setup using BenQ monitors. Which could also be a difference. The control scheme on the back of the monitor is not ideal for multiple monitor setups. Controls that run along the bottom edge or along the front bezel are preferred. The controls on this monitor are on the right back side which makes the middle and left monitor in a 3-head setup, hard to get to. After initial setup, it wont matter much unless you are the kind of person who actually swaps monitor modes based on what you are doing. Other than that, the monitors seem great. High refresh rates (165hz), color scheme, etc.
