Love this game! Once you get the hang of it, so much fun to play!! The board can change constantly, every time you play its another new house and scenario!

I should have read the negative reviews before purchasing. Not at all appropriate for my family. Too many satanic themes.

I have played this game with my friends multiple times and it has been fun every time. The tiles and pieces look slick and the re-playability is awesome. My only issue is how some of the instructions are worded in the scenarios. This wouldnt be so bad (interpretation for role-playing aspect perhaps) but a clear understanding of what needs to be done and the limitations of characters is vague on many of the scenarios. This can break the game for players and cause more confusion than fun at times. Other than this issue, it is well worth the buy and I would reccomend it to anyone.

This game is awesome for a small group of people. The setup is quick since the first half of the game is designing the board layout through natural progression. The second half is where the replayability kicks in as there are dozens of scenarios (each with their own goals and game mechanics), a random antagonist, and of course your board layout. No two games will ever be the same! My only complaint about the game is the poor quality stat counters on the character cards. There are a handful of smartphone apps that offer an alternative to this though, so download any of those free options and forgo the physical card for a more enjoyable experience.

By far one of my favorite games. Its very in depth, strategic, and thought provoking but also not confusing or too difficult to follow.

This is a really unique game and a lot of fun. Requires a bit of nous to play as at any point someone might have to learn what role they take on as the traitor in the house. Theres a bit of book reading, but the advantage is that it helps you keep a lot of variety in the game :) Kill your friends! Fight ghosts! Survive!

This game is fantastic! It does a wonderful job combining horror with board games. I love the extra detail they put into the little things (character development and stories, different events, captions that give good imagery on events going on, etc.) It’s also fun working with and then possibly against your friends in the same game. Love it!

Ive played this game about 4 times so far. It is my new favorite game. Since there are so many reviews about how the game works, I will just go over some of the things you can do to enhance your experience. First, watch the TableTop episode (on YouTube) to get the hang of how the game works. Also, download a Betrayal at House on the Hill app so you can keep track of everyones Stat points. For the game I bought, summer 2015, most of the stat clips were just fine, but about 1 or 2 cards worth were too loose, so we used the app to backup all the Stat information. Then, download a Spooky Sound Effect app. There are lots of them to choose from. I have the stat card app on my phone, and a spooky sound effect app on my Kindle Fire, so I can use both easily. The spooky sound effects really add atmosphere to the game. When you go into a new room, you can play a creaky door sound. If a card says you hear footsteps behind you, play that sound. It makes the game really fun. I also created a spooky music channel on Pandora that I have playing through the Pandora app on my phone. If we play at our house, we use our Amazon Echo for the Pandora music. It is all spooky - sounding classical music, and it feels like its the soundtrack to this horror film of a game. One last thing you can do is make some spooky snacks. Do a search for Halloween Recipes, and you will find some. We make bones: A pretzel stick with a mini marshmallow at both ends, dipped in white chocolate. For a 2 player game, each of us controls 2 characters, then after the haunt, the traitor gives the other player control of the good guy. If youre playing with someone who is not a good reader, or if they just dont want to be the traitor, you can almost always switch and let another player be the traitor instead. This issue has not come up in our family yet, though. Its hard to play if you are trying to take care of a baby at the same time, or if you are distracted with something else going on in the house, but it is a LOT of fun if you have time to really sit down and play it. Especially with the spooky soundtrack and spooky sound effects. This would be a fun game to play at Halloween. It is also fun to make up voices for the different characters and personalities, too.
