This is a very fun game. You start out as a cooperative team to explore the house, but sometime you know someone is going to turn on you. Rules are easy to follow, replay value is extremely high as the chances of having a different game from the last time are extremely good. I have played probably 35-40 games, no repeats so far. You should get this game!

Its a different game every time and though the first time playing may be a little bit of a struggle its super fun. Friends consistently ask to play, and its always a different game. Dont worry, once you get the way to play youll understand forever. The creators really thought through the details and it shows. I cant recommend it enough. It takes a while to play, but its easily my favorite board game.

Such a fun game for 3 or more players! Its a cooperative game...until it isnt! You explore the house room by room collecting omens and items. If you roll a smaller amount than omens in play you initiate the haunt! Someone becomes the traitor and its everyone else against the traitor! Fun game play! Its rare to initiate the same haunt twice, but still fun even if you do!

First, I have owned over 25 Avalon Hill games - mostly war games from the 60s and 70s and this is the first one I will never fully play. I find it sad that they cant create a video for you tube on how to play. The videos on there are more interested in their dram ability than showing someone how to play. Shame on AH for not doing something like this or at least having a web site that allows questions and rule clarifications. Too many rule variations within the game requires constant looking at the rule book once the Haunt begins. That causes inattention by the other players and then it requires a few minutes to get them back into the game - very irritating. This is the only game of 6 (Qwixx, Chameleon, Spy Alley, Labyrinth, Catan and Betrayal) we purchased for the holidays and winter that hasnt been played completely. Basically we lost interest in it due to constant confusion the game causes. I would recommend any of the other games we tried but not Betrayal. Probably a good concept, but inadequate explanations abound.

Likes: Gameplay varies quite a bit keeping it fresh every time. Helps if you dramatically read the cards first couple of times that you play through. At least 50 unique games to play but even then it makes quite a bit of difference when the haunt even within the same haunt. Dislikes: Takes quite a long time to explain to new players. Sometimes the rules are just vague enough where you end up house ruling something on the fly (it is even in the rule book to house rule edge cases). The player profile cards are fiddly with the clips tearing out bits of the card when you move them. Recommend using one of the many apps that replace the player profiles.

Apparently I can rate the thickness of this board game and I have no clue what that means.
