Ive played it almost a dozen times and even though weve gotten the same scenarios a couple of times, it has never been the same twice! The game has an interesting mechanic of building the board as you go (using tiles) and theres a twist that happens after a certain tile comes up and the dice are rolled poorly. You select (based on what tile and what item card were chosen) a scenario to play out for the rest of the game and theres 50 different ones included! Its fairly easy to learn (your first game is going to take a while!) and its a good longer game for board game day. The quality of the pieces, dice, cards, and tiles are also very good. The counters for the characters didnt fit well on the character boards, so I covered them with packing tape to make the boards a bit thicker and they sit fine now.

Game is simply brilliant! So thankful they did a reprint! This makes a wonderful addition to our 60+ board game collection!

This is a really fun game with quite a bit of randomness so it keeps replay value.

I have only played a handful of times, so it may be better when you get to know it more. The idea of the game being different every time it is played is great, and it truly is different each time. Different game will have different Haunts that affect the gameplay from that point forward. There are instructions for these haunts, but I have found them to be sometimes incomplete with some details left unclear that could really affect how it would work. The game also takes a very long time and is relatively unexciting until you get to the Haunt portion, so there have also been times that we gave up playing before getting into the real part. This may be a better game for more seasoned board game lovers that do not mind complicated mechanics and drawn out portions of games. I love the idea that it is different each time and many different aspects of it, but it is just too hard to get into.

Ive played the first edition of this game about a dozen times, and its one of my favorite games. Since the board (the mansion) is built room by room with tiles as you play the game, and the haunt (the event that causes one of the players to become a traitor and usually gain special powers and/or minions to hunt down the other players) is randomly determined from dozens of possibilities, the game never plays the same way twice. Game play moves quickly and allows for collaboration between players, so there is no sitting around waiting for someone else to take his turn. The horror theme contains many campy twists that add a bit of a comedic element as well. The only down side to the game play is that in many of haunt scenarios, your character can die, thus removing you from the game. This usually happens very close to the end of the game, but its possible for someone whose character died early to have to wait 30 minutes or more for the other players to finish the game. A minor quibble is that to support so many possible scenarios, the game comes with scores of game pieces, and sometimes it can take a few minutes to dig through them to find the one you need for a particilar card or haunt scenario.

A must-have for tile-exploration enthusiasts. I love tile-exploration games and this one fits the bill. The game includes 50 scenarios so its got a good amount of replay value right out of the box. I hope Wizards produces some expansions, even just some more scenarios, for this.
