Greater than one weekSuper fun game! Mixes Clue and DnD. At first reading of the rules the game might seem complex but give it a quick run through and what you do on a turn quickly makes sense. The game suggests 3 as a minimum but IMO 4 works much better. The tiles, tokens, cards, figurines and rule books are really well made. The only grip I have is the sliders for the player cards; some are looser then others, but its a small issue. There are 6 player cards but they are each double sided so there is really 12 choices. 6 pre painted figurines to go with the player cards. 44 room tiles that you build your mansion with as you go. 80 cards that have items, events or omens. 3 Rule books 1 to get you started and two that come into play when the event starts. One for the Traitor and one for the Survivors. Once you get the hang of the basic game things will go pretty smooth. Once the event starts things may get a bit more confusing. Each team will read from their book and try to figure out what to do and and at the same time guess what the other team is probably going to do. While there are a lot of different events that can happen and this makes the game really great for replay-ability. The Events are not as clearly hatched out as they could be. Sometimes things have to be assumed because the books are not clear. The Events give special abilities and its hard to talk to the other team and explain that something is a given ability and that you are not cheating. But at the same time without giving away what their rule book states. But with so many different events it makes it hard to play test them all I am sure. The game is fun, exciting, suspenseful and surprising. Like I said the replay-ability is awesome.

Greater than one weekMassive replayability, fun and thematically appropriate writing... This game is everything you want from a B-rated horror movie all crammed into one delightfully addictive board game.

26-12-2024One of the best games Ive played in a long time. It is a bit involved when learning how to play but worth it in the long run. Personally, I think its more fun playing with the max amount of people. Overall its a great game.

Greater than one weekIve played the first edition of this game about a dozen times, and its one of my favorite games. Since the board (the mansion) is built room by room with tiles as you play the game, and the haunt (the event that causes one of the players to become a traitor and usually gain special powers and/or minions to hunt down the other players) is randomly determined from dozens of possibilities, the game never plays the same way twice. Game play moves quickly and allows for collaboration between players, so there is no sitting around waiting for someone else to take his turn. The horror theme contains many campy twists that add a bit of a comedic element as well. The only down side to the game play is that in many of haunt scenarios, your character can die, thus removing you from the game. This usually happens very close to the end of the game, but its possible for someone whose character died early to have to wait 30 minutes or more for the other players to finish the game. A minor quibble is that to support so many possible scenarios, the game comes with scores of game pieces, and sometimes it can take a few minutes to dig through them to find the one you need for a particilar card or haunt scenario.

> 3 dayThis is a great game. Do not buy this game if you love Jesus. You might get emotionally scarred. Otherwise it is a great cooperative game for adults.

> 3 dayThis game is superb. The tile layout of the mansion unfolding as the game progresses reminds me of Escape: The Curse of the Temple. The 50 scenarios are deeply immersive. The first game got me really excited, and each time I play the game gets a little more comfortable and easier to play (Ive played 4 or 5 times now). Very interesting mechanics and gameplay. I only wish I had time to play it more! I play with my wife/friends or family. My wife prefers party games/word games/simple mechanic games, but I can convince her to play. For her, its a bit on the complex side so I like it way better, but Im probably more of a gamer than she is. Expect to play a solid 1.5 hours per round. I plan on getting the expansion at some point, but with 50 scenarios, it will take me a while to explore what comes in this first release. Amazon is currently selling this for 35, which is a very good price considering the depth of the game. Many comparable games are probably in the $50+ range for something like this. I am hoping to play this as much as I can over the holidays when I have time off. For me, it has been my favorite game to play this year.
