I have a woodstove that I light every day. I decided to use fire-steel instead of a lighter to practice my fire-starting. I can ignite a wide variety of tinders with this. I use dry grass or dryer lint. Works as expected. I like the bundle of parachord and striker included.

I learned to start a fire using a small cheap ferro rod that came with a kit of survival gear. It was maybe the size of a wooden match only a little longer. When the little plastic handle broke off, I decided to get myself an early Christmas gift. This ferro rod is AWESOME! Two or three strikes will start a fire! Im very pleased with this & highly recommend it.

Looks great but when you start using it you realize its cheap and it breaks easily

This thing is awesome!!! Its enormous, exactly what I was looking for. Throws a tremendous amount of spark. The paracord lanyard is the icing on the cake. I strongly recommend.

This is one of the best fire starters Ive ever used, and as a amateur Bushcrafter, Id like to think that I have pretty good experiences with a lot of fire starters. The Paracord handle is thick makes it easy to hold and the length and thickness of the rod means you get tons of strikes with lots of Sparks. A lot of times in Bushcraft and survival people always say smaller is better this is one thing I would always say bigger is better.

    Greater than one week

I have never used one of these before, but I found it to be very simple to get a big spark every time. Great for emergencies or camping.

What I like about this product is its durability and quality! The powercord is a bonus and can be used for a fire starter, fishing, etc. This rod can be kepted anywhere such as, car, backpack, jacket, etc.

I have been looking for such a flint for a while. Finally I decided to order this item which had most of my requirements. I received the item and I realized it was much better than I expected. The quality was superb. The shipment was fast and the price was very reasonable. I plan to order a few more. I am extremely happy with both the quality and the fast shipping.

1/2"× 5"" Pack of 2

  • Can be used for the kitchen as well as survival.
  • Not only for emergency bug-out bags, but also for gifts.

Size Comparison

  • Large size( 1/2"" thick) means plenty for your hands to hang onto. If you have large hands, we recommend the large size.
  • The 3/8"" × 4"" is big enough for easier strikes and small enough to carry.

How to use

  1. Scrape away the coating to expose shiny metal before first use.
  2. Hold the ferro rod close to the tinder at about a 45-degree angle. Place the scraper near the top of the rod.
  3. Pull the rod back (away from the tinder) with a slow and steady motion.
