> 3 dayFirst of all, the steel works great but its not a magic wand. Thats just half of the survival part. The second half to know is that even though the sparks come off at approx. 3000 F, you have to have good tinder. If you want to survive with this tool, learn well how to put parts one and two together. Technique plays an important role here too but the steel works great and all else is up to the user.

> 3 daySo, lets start by saying, I bought this when I got back from a camping trip that my budget ferro lost its wooden cap, and wound up somewhere I do not know. This comes with a striker(bonus, save your knife spine) and a bit of Para cord. 2 7 feet strands that make up the lanyard. I replaced that with a 15 single strand quick deploy braided cord that contained a fire core. Easy to hold, kicks a hot spark. It is a harder rod, but still kicks up good sparks.

> 3 dayThis thing is big, but not in a bad way. You are lighting a LOT of fires if you ever use this up. Still going to fit anywhere you want. Not sure of the amount of paracord in the lanyard, but quite a bit. Never seen it specified. My only question is will the striker live as long as the stick.?.?
