> 3 dayI just started a fire last night with this thing and grilled a steak in my fire pit. You just need a super flammable substance. I usually use cotton balls infused with vaseline when Im camping. I used lighter fluid last night since I was at home. If you are in a survival situation, this might save your life. The paracord is a bonus.

> 3 dayGreat Ferro Rod for my Fire Kit. 6 inches provides plenty of material and sparks for starting a fire with a good knife. Works well.

> 3 dayI would give this a 5 star for performance. The only thing holding me back is the size. This thing is huge! If youre looking for a nice rod to have in a gear bag for camping, this thing will most likely last a lifetime. But with the size, its a little to big for a BOB, GHB or tossing in your pocket for a short hike, in my opinion. If you know what a kubaton is, that is roughly the size of this. Which is great for long term use, but boils down to lugging around a huge chunk of steel. If weight is an issue, consider this factor when thinking to purchase. The braided cordage is a nice feature on this. I wish more would include this feature on the rod as its always good to have the extra cord.
