Very impressed with Flint Steel Fire Starter(1/2 by 6. It is everything as advertised- the stick is thick and easy for getting a spark(s) to start a fire. The product details say it is good for 12,000 strikes, which I believe, we have used it quite a bit and dont see much wear on it yet.

This thing shoots sparks like a volcano.was able to light paper and wood chips after 4 or 5 strikes .fat wood shavings 1 st time. Great product

The rods are fairly heavy (6), but worth their weight when you need to start a fire! I hadnt used a ferro rod before, but with a little pressure, these really throw some hot sparks and are super easy to use! Way easier than those magnesium fire starters that you have to scrape off a bunch into a pile to light. Using this with a small ball of dryer lint or char cloth, my 8-yr old can start a fire with a couple strikes on the rod. Im glad I went with the 6 version as it would be tougher to hold and get the volume of sparks with a shorter rod, though I havent used one so I cant say for sure.

My husband loves this! He makes a fire every night in our fire pit and since receiving this it is the only thing he wants to use to start his fires. He says its easy to hold and easy to use. Amazon asked about warmth for the review and Im not sure why as this is a metal rod but fires started with it provide warmth.

Look its cheap and works great. Thats really all that matters.

Large ferris rod, works well after you scrape the look pretty coating off it. Will last a very long time. Easily starts tinder. Has several feet of 550 cord with it. Cant lose the striker. Was shipped quickly.
