> 3 dayThis is a thicker rod and good for first time users. I was worried my kid would cut herself when using a knife to create a spark on the thinner rods so this was perfect. And it definitely shoots a spark! It’s a little heavier and larger to pack than the thinner rods but I traded that for safety.

Greater than one weekA great striker. When using even light pressure it gives good sparks. Came in a nice little cardboard box, the lanyard is good quality, and I would definitely recommend this to others. Only draw back is its a little awkward to hold without a handle but I figured it would be when I bought it.

> 3 dayI bought this as a Christmas gift for my 14 year old grandson. We tried it yesterday and it worked. It is a good tool for any hiker, camper or explorer to carry.
