> 24 hourI would like to start off stating this is a big rod. I was expecting half this size as I was looking at several. I like the size, though be warned that this is is almost as heavy as the knife in the photo. If I had batteries for my scale I would’ve measured it. I will end up lashing it to the knife in the picture (also an Amazon purchase). Works very well. Please be aware of it’s larger size and weight if you are looking to tuck this in a pouch. Most rods for sale appear to be half to one third the size of these. Box comes with two rods. Good purchase.

> 24 hourThe first portion of the rod after you scrape off the black is great. After that it barely throws a spark. I tested this theory with some birch bark. After 20 attempts with the already used portion of the rod I had nothing going yet. About 3 scrapes in after I scraped off the black on a new section of the rod I had the fire going.

> 24 hourEasy to hold, lots of sparks, and the hole makes hanging it on paracord simple. I will probably never be without one, in the woods.

> 24 hourThese rods are nice and sturdy and have a long path to strike sparks from. They make more sparks and hence an easier fire than any others I have seen.

> 24 hourmakes Lots of sparks..I like the more substantial fell the 1/2 rod, vs. a 1/4 rod
