Myst is a foreseer, a clairvoyant with the ability to see the future. She is desperate to change the outcome of the chilling vision that has haunted her. Myst knows, in order to be a part of her young daughter’s life, she must trust Bas Cavrilo to help keep the Brotherhood from capturing her. Her fears become realty, however, when the mysterious weapon prophesied to bring harm on the high blood safe haven is not what Myst expected. Bas Cavrilo is an outcast high blood with the magic of a witch and the great strength of a Sentinel. For his five-year-old daughter’s safety, he decides to turn a new leaf and quit the shadowy society he created. Molly’s mother breezes back into their lives much to Bas’s annoyance. The silver-haired clairvoyant still enchants him. Bas discovers her altruistic reasons for abandoning their daughter five years ago and offers to help her steer clear of the Brotherhood until they can discover a way to thwart the vision from coming true. I am glad that Bas redeems himself. He starts out in BORN IN BLOOD, the first book in THE SENTINELS, being Valhalla and The Mave’s nemesis. The catalyst that prompts him to change his villainous ways, and the start of his redemption, are found in the second book, BLOOD ASSASSIN. He is not the usual villain type found in books. Bas’s aversion to following orders and using underhanded methods of getting desired results is the chief reason he opposes The Mave and Valhalla. I love that for his daughter’s sake, he is willing to cease his unlawful activities. Bas and Kaede’s comradery proves that even bad guys need friends that they can trust to protect their back. Myst is Bas’s perfect opposite. Life has dealt her a rough hand, yet Myst still thinks and worries about other’s welfare before her own. Circumstances beyond her control force Myst to sacrifice much. I admire the difficult choice she made in order to keep her daughter protected from the Brotherhood. I also like that she is able to see the good in Bas that he cannot see or believe exist. BLOOD LUST is book three is Alexandra Ivy’s riveting paranormal series, THE SENTINELS. I always look forward to upcoming new stories in this series. I like how the paranormal aspects in THE SENTINELS differ from what is commonly found in the genre. My love of Japanese animation helped me with pronouncing Kaede’s name. I do hope Alexandra Ivy considers him to be the next book’s hero. If Bas can be redeemed, so can Kaede. Lana, Valhalla’s Mave, and Wolfe’s tenuous relationship heats up in the story’s background. I suspect their book will either be the last book in THE SENTINEL series or close to the last. I eagerly anticipate the next book to see who will be the next hero and heroine. It was Bass turn. So excite I was when I began. Okay. Let me say that there was no. Absolutely, no disappointment in the mere hours it took me to read this one. Holy. Holy. Holy. Action. Suspense. Action. Drama. Action. Romance. This was so anticipate. Molly, Bas, and Myst. Things were bound to come about and picking up were the last left off. No you dont have to have read the one before. Its just great background into all the connections and build ups. Ivy loves her characters and you can glimmer all that just from reading her books. She set up new/side/secondary characters with possibilities that could present later for them to become more to the reader. Anyway I was babbling. Bas loves his daughter. There was one other that he loved also. When all comes out on why she has been running, Bas makes her priority also with keeping their daughter safe. The love between the two shines bright and hot. You just have to know there is more coming. Alexandra Ivy can write some paranormal immortal romance with action, drama, suspense, and oh my steam, heat, scorching goodness all the way round. What is next????? **This ARC was provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.**

    * I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley for the purpose of an honest review. Okay, so if you’ve been keeping up with The Sentinals series then you know that Bas is a high blood who doesn’t follow the rules; he makes them. His onetime hookup with a woman known as Myst resulted in a daughter named Molly that Bas had to raise alone after Myst dropped her on his doorstep as an infant. Now Myst has returned to spend time with their daughter and hopefully avoid the vision she’s been haunted by, a vision that says she will create a weapon that will destroy the world. Okay, so Bas was the leader of a shadow society of high bloods who don’t want to follow the rules that were created to keep them and the humans safe. That has disaster written all over it right? Well yeah, almost from the start Blood Lust dropped me into total chaos with Bas and Myst reuniting and reluctantly calling a truce to their hostilities in order to deal with a bigger problem and in the process they get their hands all over each other again, cause you know, one time wasn’t enough for these two. I loved the tension between these two so much because it was so well done. There was tons of unfinished business between them, yet they had to prioritize their needs against their daughter’s. Bas wasn’t used to having someone like Myst stand up to him because, hello High Blood Assassin, but it was entertaining to watch them clash. Bas needed to be put in his place because as sexy as this guy was, he was arrogant and dismissive of anyone that wasn’t him or his daughter. Of course part of Bas’ charm was his dry sense of humor that would pop up at unusual times. Myst didn’t exactly lack in the humor department either. She was more than capable of matching Bas’ sarcasm with a few snarky responses that sometimes caught him off guard. I’m so glad that Alexandra Ivy paired the very alpha Bas with the iron willed Myst because he would have stomped all over a lesser female. Where Bas was the physical strength, Myst was the intellectual strength and I loved that balance between them. That’s not to say Myst was a slouch at fighting because she wasn’t, she just had different methods. She was definitely one of those characters who made the best out of a bad situation but she’s been a loner for most of her life so connecting with others was new to her and I loved watching her learn that there were people she could count on. There’s always something going on in an Ivy book and Blood Lust was no exception. The main story is of course Bas and Myst’s journey to find out how to stop her vision from coming true but there’s also the accompanying story (and budding… something) of Lana, otherwise known as the Mave, aka the leader of the high bloods and Wolfe, the leader of the Sentinals. He seems to be the only one not intimidated by her power and there’s an attraction between them for sure. Really though, I loved how Bas went from despicable in the previous book, to reluctant and totally likable hero in this one. Ivy took his one positive quality which was his love for his daughter and used it as a stepping stone towards redeeming this dangerous, selfish, and cold character and I loved every step of the way. Bas and Myst weren’t the easiest couple but they are one of the most fun. The push and pull between them and the fun of watching them find their feet while co-parenting their daughter was worth the wait.

This book is book 3 of the Sentinels series. This book is a continuation of the battle of good and evil with human with a little something extra. Bas our leading man is an Assassin with a daughter that is kidnapped. Not only due we have a kidnapping but a hot romance between Bas and Myst his daughter mother. Myst has secrets but maybe its time to come clean and claim her family. Another exciting romance from this author and a great addition in this series . Lisa

So I totally rationed myself on this book, since I didnt know when the next Sentinels book was scheduled. I was lucky enough to read the other books pretty much back to back. I have to say, this is one of my favorite worlds. Alexandra does an amazing job of creating these rich, complicated and complex characters, and then surprises you every time. You meet Bas in Blood Assassin, where he should have been a Bad Guy, but in reality, just because he has flexible morality for many things, deep down, he is a Sentinel and understands what is important. Once again, the theme of the family make and overcoming less than ideal families is strong in this story. Myst is an interesting character. I wanted her to be silly and frivolous and selfish, but shes none of those things, even from the beginning. Together, Bas and Myst are able to find what they are looking for. And of course Molly, I hope to see more of her too. In addition to Bas and Myst, we get even more insight into Wolfe and Lana. Ivy did a great job of balancing both stories. I didnt feel cheated on either story. AND if we dont get Wolfe and Lanas story soon, ok I dont have threat, but I am hoping we will get it sooner rather than later!

The Sentinel Series has been one of my favorite by Alexandra Ivy but in Blood Lust I just had trouble warming up to Bas and Myst. That really has never happened in the past with characters from Ms. Ivy’s creation so I guess it was time. The writing is as solid as ever filled with plenty of different places and people. In some ways it is a pure fantasy delight. My only reason for not loving it is the two main characters. Myst never confined in Bas but now she does several years after Molly’s birth. Of course, Bas is still attracted to her and he loves his daughter so he helps her mother. Basically they do what they do for selfish reasons. These are characters who have different moral compasses from what I like in my heroes. The villains in this story are much worse so I was glad of the ending. Liked but didn’t love as I have the previous books. Copy provided by the publisher through Net Galley for an honest review.
