Blood Lust (The Sentinels Book 3)

> 3 dayBLOOD LUST is the third installment in Alexandra Ivy’s adult The Sentinels paranormal, romance series focusing on a rare supernatural species known as high bloods –blessed (and cursed) with powers and magical abilities. To protect the high bloods from themselves and discrimination from the outside world and the human organization known as the Brotherhood, the ‘freaks’ and ‘mutations’ are secluded in the domed city of Valhalla organized with a social infrastructure and hierarchy of Sentinels, Assassins and more. This is assassin Bas, and clairvoyant Myst’s second chance story line. BLOOD LUST can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information is revealed where necessary. Told from several third person perspectives BLOOD LUST follows the rebuilding of the relationship between Bas and Myst. Approximately five years earlier, Myst found herself on the run from the Brotherhood, a fanatical group of humans bent on destroying the high-bloods of the world. Enter Bas, the man she ran to for protection and the man that would father her child during a one-night stand. Fast forward to present day, Myst is still on the run but hopes to see her daughter one final time before searching for the truth about her fated visions, and the weapon that could destroy the world. What ensues is the search for the Brotherhood, and the rekindling of the relationship between Myst and Bas. Although I am not a clairvoyant, I immediately guessed the source of the weapon ;) . We are introduced to Bas’s best friend Kaede, a man who has sworn fealty to the high-blood assassin; Molly, Bas and Myst’s five year old daughter and not without some power of her own; Lana-the high blood Mave who is the high-blood leader; and Wolfe-Mave’s guardian (and Tagos) and the man who has pledged his life and his love for the woman in charge. The requisite evil belongs to Stella-the leader of the Brotherhood, and a woman who claims she can speak to God. The world building continues to focus on the discrimination against those who are different but also introduces two new ‘powers’ that have remained hidden for a very long time. BLOOD LUST is an exciting, emotional and entertaining story about friendship and family, truth and lies, forgiveness and love. The premise is imaginative and energetic; the characters are passionate and charismatic; the romance is a second chance for two people brought together by a common evil.

Greater than one weekAlexandra Ivy never disappoints. Her characters leap off the pages, and her world building is so realistic that chores will go undone and the family will be unfed while you try to squeeze in just one more chapter. While Blood Lust is the most recent in The Sentinels series, it can be read and enjoyed on its own merits. On the face of it simply a paranormal romance, the underlying themes are as basic as time itself: a mothers love for her child, betrayal by trusted comrades, and the raw pursuit of power. Read, enjoy, recommend.

> 3 dayMy oh my havent we come full circle! The villain (of sorts) Bas of Blood Assassin is now the hero in Blood Lust. Im calling him the not quite bad because as much as he was wrong for his previous actions, it was justifiable, sort of like justifiable homicide. *Snorts* Okay he was a previous bad boy but I still found him to be delish. Now he gets his own story...WooHoo! Hes still not quite a pristine member of society here but at least we get to find out why, and it turns out, hes actually a sweetheart. He takes care of his people and he adores his daughter. Myst is the mother of his daughter, Molly, and the one who got away. She has quite the sad story and is on the run from the Brotherhood. Id love to tell you what her story is but her secrets slowly unfold throughout the book. Let’s just say, she didn’t exactly leave Molly behind because she wanted to. Probably my favorite part about this whole series is the ping-ponging between Wolfe and the Mave. There is so much sexual tension, so much ‘no-no-no’ between these two that when they finally cave and give in to what they want, its going to be explosive. Now they arent the only secondaries I find myself enjoying. Kaede, Bas right-hand man. Whatta man, whatta man, whatta fine mysterious man! Weve gotten a peek at his story and Im guessing there is a bit more to him. Im reeeeeally hoping all my favorite secondaries get their own stories and HEA. (Hint-hint, Ms. Ivy!) Now I will admit, I put two and two together and figured it out fairly quickly what was going to happen. Really, I cant be the only one who figures once they hear Mysts story and that prophesy! And despite having guessed right, I still enjoyed how it all played out. Lots of excitement, mystery and some yummy sex keep everything rolling at a fairly quick pace. Not as much physical action this time around and the villains seem a bit dumber than I previously thought them to be. Nevertheless, I still thoroughly enjoyed Bas and Mysts story. Theirs has been my favorite of the series. Im all caught up to the Sentinels series and have enjoyed each and every book. The characters are great, the whole world of High-Bloods and Sentinels is riveting and the mysterious Brotherhood, hmmm, yes even they add to the story. It all makes for an exciting read that any paranormal fanatic can easily lose themselves in. I cant wait to see what happens next! I received this book from the JeepDiva for the express purposes of an honest review. The opinions and rating of this review are solely mine and in no way was I compensated. Stars - 4.5, Flames - 3

Greater than one weekI received this book as an ARC from Net galley for my honest review! I loved everything about this book from the cover, to the author and then the awesome main characters Bas and Myst! Although throughout this series Bas and not been what one would consider the good guy he has to put his bad boy ways behind him when his daughters life is at risk. With so many enemies surrounding him Bas does not know who to trust but is willing to do anything to protect his daughter even if it means he has to deal with her mother...Myst. Myst has been on the run for reasons that she could never explain to Bas. Unfortunately Myst learns the hard way that she can no longer hide and must tell Bas everything if they hope to keep their daughter safe. What I loved about this book was the drama of it all. When Bas realizes just what is going on with Myst he became an even greater man, thinking less about himself and his daughter but more about his family. Overall this book was great and worth every moment I spent waiting for it to come out. Great job Alexander Ivy and please be kind and give the readers more ASAP!

The Book Junkie Reads . . .
> 3 dayIt was Bass turn. So excite I was when I began. Okay. Let me say that there was no. Absolutely, no disappointment in the mere hours it took me to read this one. Holy. Holy. Holy. Action. Suspense. Action. Drama. Action. Romance. This was so anticipate. Molly, Bas, and Myst. Things were bound to come about and picking up were the last left off. No you dont have to have read the one before. Its just great background into all the connections and build ups. Ivy loves her characters and you can glimmer all that just from reading her books. She set up new/side/secondary characters with possibilities that could present later for them to become more to the reader. Anyway I was babbling. Bas loves his daughter. There was one other that he loved also. When all comes out on why she has been running, Bas makes her priority also with keeping their daughter safe. The love between the two shines bright and hot. You just have to know there is more coming. Alexandra Ivy can write some paranormal immortal romance with action, drama, suspense, and oh my steam, heat, scorching goodness all the way round. What is next????? **This ARC was provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.**

> 3 dayThe story Bas is the de facto leader of a sect of High-Bloods that operate outside of Valhalla (the protected warded stronghold run by the Mave and the Tagos). Bas is a High-Blood witch Sentinel Assassin, fiercely protective of his family. Five years ago he had a one night encounter with an echanting clairvoyant, nine months later a baby was left in his room. Molly is just as enchanting and captivating as her mother. A now five year old Molly suddenly starts talking about her mother being on the way .... lo and behold Myst enters.... Myst is an extremely rare foreseer, she has been trying to outrun her prophecy all her life.. While the story lines are focused on the main focus, there is also a rebuilding of their relationship and original backgrounds. Thoughts Although this is a completely unique series, plots, characters & her books always seem familiar, in the best way possible. I love Bas energy and his relationship with Myst sweet. he is a caveman shes a bit timid, but their complex personalities explain their behaviors. this is the third in the series, I always welcome another look into this unique series.

> 3 dayThis Sentinel series is a new one for me, but I quickly became a new fan as I became involved in the story of Bas, Myst, and little Molly. There are many differently talented paranormals in this world: witches, healers, psychics, necromancers, telepaths, and clairvoyants and as a group they are known as High bloods. They have mortal and nonmortal enemies. Myst as returned to spend time with Molly and Bas does not want her to leave him again. Can they learn the mystery of her destiny and become a happy family? I received an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
