Blood Lust (The Sentinels Book 3)

> 24 hourThe encounter with the sinfully good Bas in the previous book had me excited that this was to be his own book. Bas is a lethal High Blood Assassin, but he has an Achilles’ Heel, his daughter. Now he might have just found a second weakness when Molly’s mother rushes back into his life bringing portents and prophesies of danger. The Sentinels has proven to be an exciting, action-packed series with a unique paranormal twist on the immortals. Each book has a separate romance and situation and yet there is a clear series arc and a few ongoing stories in the background so I don’t recommend getting them out of order. In this story, Bas has just retrieved Molly from her kidnappers and did his reluctant part to help the High Bloods of Valhalla stop a powerful evil, but now he wants to avoid the hero-types and get his life of a mercenary back on track. Unfortunately, that is not to be when Molly’s mother, Myst, returns to his life. They had one night together and then she ran only to return and leave the baby Molly with him. Now she wants time with their daughter. Bas isn’t in the mood, but then he senses something might be behind Myst’s behavior and he will have the secrets of this frustrating female who he never could forget. Myst left behind her child to protect her and she left her with a man that even that short acquaintance has ruined her for other men. She knows what Bas thinks of her, but she had her reasons. She has been on the run and she wouldn’t allow Molly to be with her if she were recaptured. And then there is the foretelling she did that named herself as the one to unleash a weapon that would destroy her kind, the High Bloods. She only planned to get in, make sure her child was safe, and get out, but Bas has other plans and he’s not allowing her to keep her secrets this time. Worse, he insists on helping her get all the answers so they can prevent the disaster she saw in her vision. Alright, this one was a fast, easy read with an action-based plot. The players and situation are introduced and things race into motion from there. This is Bas and Myst’s story, but it is also a continuation of Lana, the Valhalla Mave leader and her lethal Tagos protector along with the situation in the Human First camp. I enjoy the inclusion of these other storylines. Everyone is rushing to figure out the secret about the ‘weapon’ of Myst’s foretelling and it’s like a treasure hunt with two teams of hunters. As usual with the author’s stories, there is a blend of passion and action. The Sentinels concept like X-Men humans who are feared and hated by many non-gifted humans is a good one. I always enjoy what gifts will be the highlight of each new installment. The romantic pair are a rogue assassin with a magic gift and a foreteller with telepathy. I loved seeing Bas and Myst go from wary and suspicious to a pair who need each other and partner for what matters. Bas likes to pretend that he is all bad boy, but he really has a heart of gold even if he feels rules are optional. Myst has never know a home or acceptance so she is used to running and doing for herself. Loved watching her learn that there are good people who will help her. The action wound down to an exciting end with some fun surprise twists and danger moments along the way. Always fun to see how the author will extricate her good guys from a tight spot. It was a rush to the finish and now I am left eager for the next installment. I would recommend these for those who enjoy action-driven, heated, fast, and easy paranormal romance. My thanks to Kensington Group for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

> 24 hourOkay, so this is actually my first book in the Sentinels series that I have read, but I LOVED it <3 I am definitely going to be reading the other 2 before it and definitely going to be awaiting anxiously for upcoming Sentinels books!! Bas & Myst were really great characters and their story was riveting one. Bas was a great father to his daughter Molly. Seriously, this once bad boy is brought to his knees by his baby girl and I loved watching their bond get stronger. Myst, she intrigued me the first time her character was introduced and I thought for sure I wasnt going to like her, but it turns out she did what she had to to protect Molly and that I understood. Bas & Myst had to get over the past and some other present issues, but their passion for each other was like fireworks going off. They just looked at each other and it was sexual tension like no other!! The secondary character Kaede, he was Bass right hand man, was a really great character. He is so secretive and I hope he gets a book, because I feel like there is so much more depth to his character than we actually saw. Alexandra Ivy knows how to write a story line that will keep readers intrigued and on the edge of their seats!! I am so happy that I took a chance on this series and I am very much looking forward to see what Alexandra Ivy comes out with next!!

> 24 hourId read the prior books in this series (2 full books and a prequel novella) and I was interested enough to read more. I really enjoyed the focus on Myst and Bas as they are complex characters with layers. Ivy really moved the series along with this book and developed several side stories. This is definitely paranormal romance bordering on erotic. The world building is excellent in my opinion. I have a few minor quibbles with this book and the series in general. The cover art seems straight out of the 1980s....I cant believe anyone thinks this enhances the story. I also have an odd reaction to a diction choice the author has made. She repeatedly refers to characters as this female or that male as if they were livestock. This word choice is used heavily throughout the series and I find it off putting. Also, the character of Molly is painted in over-the-top angelic word-smithing which I found irritating and saccharine. Those issues aside, I found the book engaging and the adult characters worth my investment as a reader. Id definitely follow the series if it stays to adult characters.

> 24 hourBas and Myst have alot of history its called Molly. Love the great interactions with other characters. Alot of heat between Bas and Myst. They work thru things and get happy ever after. Cant wait for the next story in this series. One last thing love can change some of the most ruthless people.

> 24 hourIts an exciting book, in a way. It tells an exciting story full of danger. The evil characters are very evil, for reasons that are not completely clear. The good characters are not really that good. The hero is an assassin. The heroine is an unwed mother who abandoned her baby. Thats reasonable because there was danger involved. But staying away didnt keep the child safe. The child experienced traumatizing events anyway. So Myst blew it as a mom. She is really very incompetent at motherhood, but at least she has a telepathic connection with her daughter, and she sent lots of reassurance, and isnt that enough? Then Myst shows up in person at her baby daddys apartment, and discovers there is still lust between them, and she shags him again. Heres where I started to hate these guys. They already have one kid with a seriously screwed up early childhood. That kind of damage cant be fixed with a telepathic hug. The tragedy was, among other things, the result of poor family planning. Its terrible what happened to the first child, and now these two are willing to do it again, without reliable birth control. They dont even spend two minutes thinking about it. Myst mentions her concern, and Bas convinces her to allow penetration anyway, and no condoms are produced, and the act proceeds due to mutual lust, with barely any thought to the consequences. How irresponsible can you get? What kind of selfish people act like that? Myst wrapped her legs around his pistoning hips, astonished to discover another massive orgasm was rapidly clenching her lower muscles... I stopped reading after that part. The story no longer seemed sexy to me, just trashy and sad.

> 24 hourThis review might be a bit biased because I am already a fan of Alexandra Ivy, but I loved this book. The chemistry between Bas and Myst is spot on. The plot moves along nicely and is full of romance and sexual energy. I cant wait to read the next one!

> 24 hour* I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley for the purpose of an honest review. Okay, so if you’ve been keeping up with The Sentinals series then you know that Bas is a high blood who doesn’t follow the rules; he makes them. His onetime hookup with a woman known as Myst resulted in a daughter named Molly that Bas had to raise alone after Myst dropped her on his doorstep as an infant. Now Myst has returned to spend time with their daughter and hopefully avoid the vision she’s been haunted by, a vision that says she will create a weapon that will destroy the world. Okay, so Bas was the leader of a shadow society of high bloods who don’t want to follow the rules that were created to keep them and the humans safe. That has disaster written all over it right? Well yeah, almost from the start Blood Lust dropped me into total chaos with Bas and Myst reuniting and reluctantly calling a truce to their hostilities in order to deal with a bigger problem and in the process they get their hands all over each other again, cause you know, one time wasn’t enough for these two. I loved the tension between these two so much because it was so well done. There was tons of unfinished business between them, yet they had to prioritize their needs against their daughter’s. Bas wasn’t used to having someone like Myst stand up to him because, hello High Blood Assassin, but it was entertaining to watch them clash. Bas needed to be put in his place because as sexy as this guy was, he was arrogant and dismissive of anyone that wasn’t him or his daughter. Of course part of Bas’ charm was his dry sense of humor that would pop up at unusual times. Myst didn’t exactly lack in the humor department either. She was more than capable of matching Bas’ sarcasm with a few snarky responses that sometimes caught him off guard. I’m so glad that Alexandra Ivy paired the very alpha Bas with the iron willed Myst because he would have stomped all over a lesser female. Where Bas was the physical strength, Myst was the intellectual strength and I loved that balance between them. That’s not to say Myst was a slouch at fighting because she wasn’t, she just had different methods. She was definitely one of those characters who made the best out of a bad situation but she’s been a loner for most of her life so connecting with others was new to her and I loved watching her learn that there were people she could count on. There’s always something going on in an Ivy book and Blood Lust was no exception. The main story is of course Bas and Myst’s journey to find out how to stop her vision from coming true but there’s also the accompanying story (and budding… something) of Lana, otherwise known as the Mave, aka the leader of the high bloods and Wolfe, the leader of the Sentinals. He seems to be the only one not intimidated by her power and there’s an attraction between them for sure. Really though, I loved how Bas went from despicable in the previous book, to reluctant and totally likable hero in this one. Ivy took his one positive quality which was his love for his daughter and used it as a stepping stone towards redeeming this dangerous, selfish, and cold character and I loved every step of the way. Bas and Myst weren’t the easiest couple but they are one of the most fun. The push and pull between them and the fun of watching them find their feet while co-parenting their daughter was worth the wait.

> 24 hourMyst is a foreseer, a clairvoyant with the ability to see the future. She is desperate to change the outcome of the chilling vision that has haunted her. Myst knows, in order to be a part of her young daughter’s life, she must trust Bas Cavrilo to help keep the Brotherhood from capturing her. Her fears become realty, however, when the mysterious weapon prophesied to bring harm on the high blood safe haven is not what Myst expected. Bas Cavrilo is an outcast high blood with the magic of a witch and the great strength of a Sentinel. For his five-year-old daughter’s safety, he decides to turn a new leaf and quit the shadowy society he created. Molly’s mother breezes back into their lives much to Bas’s annoyance. The silver-haired clairvoyant still enchants him. Bas discovers her altruistic reasons for abandoning their daughter five years ago and offers to help her steer clear of the Brotherhood until they can discover a way to thwart the vision from coming true. I am glad that Bas redeems himself. He starts out in BORN IN BLOOD, the first book in THE SENTINELS, being Valhalla and The Mave’s nemesis. The catalyst that prompts him to change his villainous ways, and the start of his redemption, are found in the second book, BLOOD ASSASSIN. He is not the usual villain type found in books. Bas’s aversion to following orders and using underhanded methods of getting desired results is the chief reason he opposes The Mave and Valhalla. I love that for his daughter’s sake, he is willing to cease his unlawful activities. Bas and Kaede’s comradery proves that even bad guys need friends that they can trust to protect their back. Myst is Bas’s perfect opposite. Life has dealt her a rough hand, yet Myst still thinks and worries about other’s welfare before her own. Circumstances beyond her control force Myst to sacrifice much. I admire the difficult choice she made in order to keep her daughter protected from the Brotherhood. I also like that she is able to see the good in Bas that he cannot see or believe exist. BLOOD LUST is book three is Alexandra Ivy’s riveting paranormal series, THE SENTINELS. I always look forward to upcoming new stories in this series. I like how the paranormal aspects in THE SENTINELS differ from what is commonly found in the genre. My love of Japanese animation helped me with pronouncing Kaede’s name. I do hope Alexandra Ivy considers him to be the next book’s hero. If Bas can be redeemed, so can Kaede. Lana, Valhalla’s Mave, and Wolfe’s tenuous relationship heats up in the story’s background. I suspect their book will either be the last book in THE SENTINEL series or close to the last. I eagerly anticipate the next book to see who will be the next hero and heroine. > 24 hourBas had a penthouse in a luxury Kansas City hotel when his highly profited business had been all messed up. He had been the leader of a renegade band of mercenary high bloods who defied the laws of Valhalla to sell their talents. Then a former employee kidnapped Bas’s precious daughter Molly and used her as leverage to try and gain control over a volatile high blood who could have caused the end of the world. Now Bas just wanted to find a place to safely raise Molly. Molly needed love and peace and stability. Molly had been a witch’s captive but she barely seemed to remember. Myst was Molly’s mom and had left her on Bas’s bed when she was an infant and left. Molly was the product of a one night stand but Bas didn’t want Molly to know that. Myst had been talking to Molly in her mind when she had been captured and since she was home. Then Myst showed up and got passed Bas’s security and had come to see Molly and keep her word to the child. Myst was a telepath and was psychically connected to Molly. Myst had spent the last four years in a Russian monastery. But once seeing Bas again she felt hot desire. Bas had been born with the magic of a witch and the strength of a Sentinel. Myst had went to Bas originally for a job saying she was clairvoyant but when got pregnant for she received a second talent- telepathy. Bas found he was still very attracted to Myst and wasn’t happy about it. The monks who had turned Bas into a perfect killer had taught bas emotions were enemies. Myst had been seeing visions of the Sentinels being destroyed since she was a child. Her parents had sold her to the Brotherhood- who were enemies of the Sentinels. The Brotherhood found out Myst could build a weapon that could destroy the Sentinels. Myst had a difficult childhood and eventually escaped the Brotherhood and had been on the run since. As much as Bas doesn’t want to admit it he and Myst still had hot chemistry was still there. But most of all Bas didn’t want Molly to be hurt by Myst. Bas found out Myst had not wanted to leave Molly but had to protect her. Now Bas was determined to keep Myst as well as Molly Safe. I really enjoyed this and the story had a good plot. Molly is so sweet and loving she really adds to this story and i adored her./ I want a Molly ! i loved how Myst would do and did anything for her daughter even give her up to her father so Molly could be safe including keeping her promise to her and showing at at Bas’s home to see Molly. I liked how protective Bas was and alpha in pretty much all he did. So yeah did love the characters. I liked the ins and outs of this story a lit also. If I could I would rate this a 4.5 or 4.7 but since I can’t a four will have to do. Bas was kinda a good bad guy. I recommend this book.
