This product does what it says it does, protects your water heater from corrosion be attracting contaminants to the tank. Just because your tank is glass lined which many are now, it doesnt mean your tank will not rust through. Is it not better to pay $17 each year or so instead of $400+ for a water heater?

after replacing a water heater (RV) with an aluminum tank - I bought this to sacrifice instead of the aluminum. when I took out after a summer of RVing - it was about 60% dissolved! So a new one for next season! a lot less $$$ than a new water heater.

Right now seems to be working like a charm.. Will see after a few camping trips, I have only noticed a small amount of ware.

Great - fit my 6 gallon heater just fine. I removed it later to drain the tank and it is definitely doing it’s job.

Anode Rods are standard equipment on house water heaters, except that they are very long and usually made out of zinc because the house water heater is made out of steel. Magnesium Anode Rods are for water heaters made out of aluminum like Atwood Heaters. The anode rods will help you get maximum life out of your RV water heater, and seeing that a replacement water heater is $6-700.00 not including installation and install materials, it is a small price to pay to put off the inevitable for as long as possible. Anode rods are especially important if you are living/camping full-time in a RV where the water heater is filled and used constantly.

I ordered several of these and stocked them so I have them to last for several years. I used my first one for a year so far and it seems to be corroding at the same rate as the original which is good. The threads on this one must be a little shallower as I have had to use a fair bit of plumbers tape to stop the threads from leaking when the water is hot. Other than that, it is just fine.

Bought this thinking I needed to replace my anode rod because its routine water heater maintenance I see happening all the time but have never done it myself. Bought this rod, it fits my Atwood water heater great! Then I found out that Atwood tanks do not need anode rods, in fact they can be damaging to the tank! Camco is just trying to make a buck. Supposedly it is magnesium so I will take it back out and use it as a firestarter. If it works, its a good deal. So, two stars.
