23-04-2025I am new to RVing and did not know about the anode rod until searching through accessories. When I pulled this out of our purchased a used 4 year old RV, I was amazed at how bad of shape the old one was. I understand these should be replaced yearly. I will order another one.

> 3 dayThe anode fits perfectly in our RV for the water heater. I recommend this product for anyone needing the anode to protect your hot water heater.

> 3 dayIve only had my TT for 6 months. Spent a total of 14 nights in it. I pulled out the factory magnesium anode and it was almost corroded halfway through near the threads and was so full of holes probably a third of the total mass was gone. That says nothing about this product I know. Im just saying check your anode! My understanding is that aluminum is better. I can tell you the threads on this product were clean and well formed and I feel good about getting good long life out of it.

23-04-2025Because I have had problems with hydrogen sulfide smell in the hot water, I hyperchlorinated my whole system and then, removed my magnesium anode and replaced with this aluminum anode. Magnesium is more reactive than aluminum. My research suggested that I will get less of this bacterial reaction within the heater with aluminum. My wife will be much more apt to smile in the shower with less of the H2S smell. Sure hope that it makes a difference. It is at least worth the try.

> 3 dayI have an Atwood 6 gal LP hot water heater. The tank is aluminum and originally Atwood only installed a drain tap rather than an anode. As an industrial maintenance tech I thought installing an anode would be an good measure to increase the life of the hot water heater tank. The anode is doing the job well. The sacrificial metal is doing what is should do. As I drained the hot water tank for winterization Nov 2018, I got a first hand look at the condition of the rod that was installed Feb, 2018. Its doing what it is designed to do, sacrifice itself to protect the tank.

> 3 dayGreat fit for the RV Atwood heater. Only thing I did not like is the instructions state to only use a small amount of torque to tighten on, so I used my torque wrench and at the recommended level (with Teflon tape) I had a drip. I had to really snug it down to stop the drip. Other than that, works just fine.

> 3 dayI had no idea that travel trailer heaters required the periodic replacement of these aluminum anodes until a friend told me. My trailer was five years old already, and the original anode was still in the heater. When I took the old anode out to put in this new one, I almost could not get it out. It had partially disintegrated while doing its work. The only problem with these anodes is the difficulty of installation. The round tip that goes back into the heater is long enough and heavy enough that holding it horizontal while you start to screw it in requires a bit of hand and wrench skills. I finally inserted the hex head into a hex socket and used my ratchet wrench to screw it in. Be sure to use plumbers pipe tape on the threads before you screw the unit in to prevent water leaks around the threads.

> 3 dayOrdered the Camco 11563 Anode to replace the original in out 5th wheel. Owners manual said to check/replace every 12 months. I let mine go just over 12 months thinking we had not camped that many times. I was so suprised when I removed the original and found it almost gone. Wont make that mistake again as now I will check/replace every six months. Oh yes, this was a perfect fit.
