I bought these pencils for my granddaughter who is a great artist at age 17. She entered in her first art show and won Best of show... Acclaimed artist Emmanuel Enriquez served as judge. He put a note on her drawing saying to put it under glass with a great frame. She wanted these pencils so they would feather easier and blend better. Well worth the money. And I got it on Christmas eve... thank you so much.

These pencils ARE of a very high quality, theres no denying it. However, the wood smell is a bit overpowering (compared to Prismacolor which I just get a faint whiff of occasionally) and even though I am just using them for my adult coloring books, and am not a professional, to my analytical eyes and hands, I really like them but I like Prismacolor better (and Prismacolor has a better black + 2 neon colors). The wood smell is why Im taking 1 star off; otherwise, the fact that i like Prismacolor is just a personal preference and these are also top notch. Prismacolor also gives double the colors for a better price, and I realize its not all about the cheapest but I really think Prismacolor is better.

Paid way too much money for these color pencils, not worth even half of what I spent. Led breaks every time I sharpen this is bs

I was afraid to buy it because they are so expensive and what if they did not work well. Well I LOVE THEM. They are among my top three. I only use three. they are so smooth and color is great

There is no question about the quality of the pigments of these pencils. The color selection, however is limited, subdued. ( like paintings in an old art gallery youve dreamed of visiting, once nose to nose with the original you find its old and grey, freyed, corrugated because of the many paintings beneath. Reading about the formulation of these pencil cores one envisions color as true as technicolor. Once in hand its like looking through a dirty grimy filter, the colors are decrepit, dingy. With more vibrant colors it is always possible to dampen their brilliance with greys and browns but how is it possible to increase a pencils intensity except by darkening the background, the contrast. Monet Im not! As received, the wood casing of #810 was split along one third of the length of the pencil. This does not bode well for the durability of the set, the likelihood of surviving sharpening seems questionable.

I expected these pencils to be wonderful and they surly are. Nice, smooth and beautiful pigments. I do however, have some issues. 1. Id like more colors. 2. Im color challenged and have difficulty telling the color of some pencils. While theyre named &a numbered, the writing is in silver and difficult to read. 3. I use a battery powered sharpener because it gives me the sharp points I like. These pencils wont fit in the hole. Because of this, I will not be using these as much or often as Id like. Ill stay with my Faber Castel and, Careb d asche Pablo, and lastly, the Prismacolor.

The colors blend easily, and are easy to lay down smooth, even colors.

Our grand-daughter graduated high school and has an outstanding artistic ability. She had mentioned that she had used her teachers Caran dAche pencils and loved them, so I thought we couldnt miss by getting her the set. She was thrilled!! Her mother said that it was her favorite gift and totally makes a difference in her artwork. A quality product.

these are absolutely amazing pencils! they take a lot of back and forth to build up colour and to fill in the valleys of the paper, but as a finishing layer over something like a polychromos or pablo they are superb. makes for a very smooth intense surface. a pencil doesnt do as well as a light layer by itself, looks grainy with lots of white spots. i am really glad i bought these. i have gone back over elements in finished drawings to smooth out and intensify the colour and the drawings really look amazing!
