Greater than one weekThey are freaking expensive. That being said, they are a dream. They color like butter across paper. I would say you don’t have to work as hard coloring because they lay down color so easily. I have to say you don’t have to get a whole set but I feel like this set is well balanced. It has a good row of warm and cool tones and neutrals. Good for portraits? Most likely. And considering the light fastness ratings and high end materials put into these bad girls. Yeah I think these will archive well. Ok I’m done. Go buy them when the price is lower. I’ve been waiting for the price to go down. It’s done this a few times. Also packaging is wonderful. They will be staying in their box when I’m done coloring my drawings. Lol

> 3 dayIve been wanting a set of these for a couple of years, but could never justify the cost. Im not an artist, just a colorist. Already have prisma, polychormos, and pablos, so why should I fork that amount of money for a set of pencils? If you are like me, you already have tried every other cheap and semi expensive pencil for kicks, found some you like, but are always wanting to add more. Then youve seen the videos and art work with these and just well, have to try them at some point. Well, here is my honest review for what its worth. Pros. The colors lay down beautifully, they are softer than polychoromos, harder that prisma, they are butter smooth. They will take layer after layer after layer, dark to light, light to dark, they dont mind a bit. If layering isnt for you they burnish well with just a single layer. They blend great with all my other pencils, even with polychormos being oil. They preform like polychromos at holding a point for a longer time than prisma. Not one problem in sharping. Shipping and packing was great. Cons. The biggest one was my first though, and its the cost. Even open stock the cheapest Ive found is going to cost me almost 5 bucks to replace one pencil. Its going to make using them a lot stay in the back of my mind every time I pick one up. Even though they hold a point for longer than prisma, I found that Im so scared to put a longer point on them for fear of breaking them, I just dont do it. So in essence I find my self always sharping. My other small complaint it the colors palette. For me, at least there are to many muted colors, and not near enough blues, greens, browns and yellows. Final thoughts. Would I purchase this set again? NO, but Im glad I have them. Now if they came out with a larger set for the same price, with more bright colors, heck yes Id really save up and get them. I just know there are more colors in this set Ill never use. So for me at least that was a waste.

> 3 dayI told myself that I would not buy these pricey, lightfast colored pencils since taking up color book coloring these past few months. However, I used to be an artist years prior and so I was intrigued by the Luminance portrait set of pencils, which are not duplicated in the full 76 count line by the way. I was so impressed with their layering and blending capabilities that I found myself using them on other types of pictures as well as portraits. I love using Caran dAche Neocolor I and II and found outstanding pigmentations in the Luminance colored pencils too. So now I own the full set of Lumies and I am so pleased with them. Is lightfastness necessary for a color book colorist, not as far as I am concerned. They are an investment for sure, but my creativity is important to me and so I enjoy using pleasing tools on extraordinary artists illustrations. These are beautifully constructed instruments meeting Caran dAche quality standards. The only complaint that I have would be some of the color names printed on the barrel are hard to read, but thats irrelevant, given the beautiful performance of the pencils.

Greater than one weekI have tried different good brands of color pencils and Caran d’Ache work best for me. Also Caran d’Ache Pablo are great for details and have amazing ranch of colors and shades. I love them!

> 3 dayFor beginners or pros these colored pencils are creamy, blendable, goodness. Very high quality, highly pigmented pencils with a great variety of colors.

> 3 daythese are absolutely amazing pencils! they take a lot of back and forth to build up colour and to fill in the valleys of the paper, but as a finishing layer over something like a polychromos or pablo they are superb. makes for a very smooth intense surface. a pencil doesnt do as well as a light layer by itself, looks grainy with lots of white spots. i am really glad i bought these. i have gone back over elements in finished drawings to smooth out and intensify the colour and the drawings really look amazing!

> 3 dayReceived these today and just opened the box. Pencils look great! Blender stick is already broken so only 4 stars and I have sent a photo.. Wish the seller could replace the blender. Oh well, hopefully these pencils will live up to the great reviews. Now if I can just get over how much they cost.

> 3 dayIt took a month and a half before I received these. Upon opening the box, there was quite a few that werent even fully sharpened. Thats was odd to me. I ordered these because of a YouTuber card maker recommended them. She also recommended Chameleon pencils. $200 vs $ 30. Of course my curiosity killed me so I went for the $200s. HUGE mistake. Im not impressed with them at all. Theyre ok, just not the price they charge for them. Some pencils felt smooth when applying to paper and others felt harder and rougher when applying. The differences were very noticeable.Do yourself a favor, if youre interested like I was, order a few open stock ones to try first. Then make youre decision.
