> 3 dayJust yesterday installed the Modern Wave 36 x 36 A/C cover on my outside unit. My unit is a SEER 18 and basically measures ~35+ square on top. I was looking for something to keep pine needles, pine flowers, various leaves and oak flowers from getting down into the unit and blocking up the drain holes and just rotting there. It looks like the mesh on this cover will stop the pine needles but may allow a direct vertical hit through - maybe. Time will tell. All the other stuff will be stopped for sure. The cover almost covers the entire almost square grill over the round fan opening. Only about a half an inch of the grill is left exposed but the entire area over the fan itself is fully covered. Just before I installed the cover the unit was turned completely off and I carefully used a shop vac to remove as much stuff from the inside bottom while it was dry. After the install, air flow seems to not be affected much if at all but I have no way to test that with any air speed tester.

> 3 dayAre you supposed to cover heat pumps? Of course not. HOWEVER, you can choose something smart like a mesh cover with large enough openings to not impede air flow and provide a temporary cover to keep out leaves. This product apparently answers all those issues. It is easy to install, it does not impede air flow, and it is well constructed. Time will tell if it will manage the Texas oak leaf season, but it is doing quite well at this time.

> 3 dayJust installed this 36 x 36 mesh cover on my day-old Trane XR 16 (37 x 37) condenser unit and the 1-inch difference did not seem to matter as the fan opening is fully covered. My A/C Technician highly suggested I only use a mesh, top only cover as he said it keeps out the leaves and debris, and does not provide the haven for rodents that a full cover would. He also said the mesh would not damage the unit like a solid cover would if accidentally turned on in the Spring without removing. As you can see by the photo this was a Winter install and the frozen-to-the ground leaves are proof a cover is needed for us. Only downside, which did not factor into my ratings at all, was that two of the rubber caps on the bungee cord hooks popped off during the simple install and fell into the frozen leaf abyss below. Ill have to figure a way to replace them .. someday when my fingers thaw. And yes, those leaves will all be cleaned and gone before the Technician comes back to fire it up for the first time and complete all of the testing in the Spring (dont really worry too much about what you readers think, but my wife might be seeing this!)

> 3 dayI am really glad I purchased this item. Ive been looking for something to protect my new HVAC system. I finally feel less needled and so does my new HVAC unit. This cover helps prevent the pine needles from falling into and accumulating at the bottom of the HVAC unit. Now the needles just pile on top of the cover which I can remove with ease. No more worries that the needles might catch fire or clog up the unit. Installation is super easy. Just open the box, unfold the cover and attach with the bungy cords that come with the cover. It took minutes.
