Central Air Conditioner Cover for Outside Units 36 x 36 - Top Universal Outdoor AC Cover Defender (Mesh, 36 x 36)

We live in Southern Nevada where the winds can reach 70mph, blowing leaves and sticks everywhere. We got our compressors cleaned last week and decided to cover them. The HVAC technician suggested this as an option. The covers are very well made but time will tell if they can last in the brutal NV Summer sunshine.

Just yesterday installed the Modern Wave 36 x 36 A/C cover on my outside unit. My unit is a SEER 18 and basically measures ~35+ square on top. I was looking for something to keep pine needles, pine flowers, various leaves and oak flowers from getting down into the unit and blocking up the drain holes and just rotting there. It looks like the mesh on this cover will stop the pine needles but may allow a direct vertical hit through - maybe. Time will tell. All the other stuff will be stopped for sure. The cover almost covers the entire almost square grill over the round fan opening. Only about a half an inch of the grill is left exposed but the entire area over the fan itself is fully covered. Just before I installed the cover the unit was turned completely off and I carefully used a shop vac to remove as much stuff from the inside bottom while it was dry. After the install, air flow seems to not be affected much if at all but I have no way to test that with any air speed tester.

I like this cover to provide protection from fall debris, while allowing my air conditioner to breathe so that moisture doesn’t remain to cause corrosion. My air conditioner measured 36 inches so I ordered that size. As you can see, it barely covers the top. I should have ordered the next size event though it may be too big.

It is very easy to install. I installed it before we ever knew we were going to have a hurricane in Central Florida. And boy did we have a hurricane, three days getting beat up by high winds, leaves going everywhere ,but the inside of my air conditioner unit. Ian sure put this air conditioner cover to the test. It stayed secure. It didn’t allow any leaves in it. I would highly recommend this cover for your air conditioner unit .I really wish they made one for a mini split.

The best investment for the life of my A/C

A/C cover has stayed in place through its first winter. It was easy to put on, even for me.
