> 3 dayI have a Mac Mini that is a couple years old which has a 1tb 5400rpm hard drive. When I first got it, I cloned it to an external SSD (different brand than this one) but the SSD was only 256gb and since I use Parallels, I had another external SSD for the Virtual Machines. Eventually, something happened in which the SSD cratered and I had to revert back to the painstakingly slow hdd. I had been keeping an eye on a 1tb SSD, expecting it to fall below $200 at some point. One day, I was cursing through the 1tb SSDs and came across this one... a 750gb SSD which is actually more than adequate for my needs, plus it was well under $200. I feel that this is the right compromise where 500gb is nice, but when running VMs where one may need to make backups then it can get really tight whereas the 750gb drive is just perfect! First thing I did when I got the SSD in my hands were to move the large files from my mac mini to an external storage, copy my VMs from the external SSD to the internal hdd and then format the new SSD and clone the drive. For me, it took about six hours because of all the large files I had to move. I do a lot of video editing and have a lot of video files. When I rebooted, I immediately saw the speed difference, especially when I logged in and opened up a VM. Web browsing is a lot faster too, since every element on a web page is downloaded into the cache. This brand rocks... very fast and very solid. Now, I feel as though I am on a computer that is seamless with memory, processor speed, and now disk speed. What is really cool is that I can easily shut down the mac mini and take the external SSD and plug it into my MacBook pro and boot off of the external SSD so that I can have my personal desktop when I travel.

Greater than one weekThis Solid State Drive is working Excellent. Computer starts up and is running after BIOS starts in about eight seconds. I needed to contact Crucial to get software recommendations to make the SSD to its fullest size by increasing the partition, as the cloning software that I used (Macrium Reflect) mirrored my computer. Once done, you uninstall the free Partition software and the clone software. For those who have never owned a Solid State Drive, please note that you NEVER Defragment the drive, as this will degrade the performance of your SSD. Just turn this off under services.msc in your start menu. NOTE also, contrary to some websites, you can leave Windows Search turned on as this will speed up your computer even more when looking for things. Remember, DISABLE defragment and ensure that you have Optimize for SSD checked in Macrium Reflect. The clone process takes about One hour on a 500GB HDD to a 698 SSD. I do not recommend the Acronis software as it does not run within a Windows environment and will display errors, use the Free Macrium Reflect software instead.

> 3 dayReplaced a 6y/o hdd with this. its better than new. i used Macrium Reflect instead of Acronis. Take the time to manage your partitions so you dont have unallocated space separated from the drive you want to expand. It took about three hours to clone the hdd to ssd via usb 2.0 cable. An excellent upgrade.

> 3 dayFor my main desktop been waiting for a drive that made sense with a ~300GB Boot drive...This is the best deal from a reliable company for anything much bigger than 500GB...Mushkin 1TB is the only other option but that is kinda slow...MX300 is a winner. Hint make regular backups, (Paragon have a free version backup app available that will even move an OS drive to different hardware). Super drive got multiple sizes (275GB for the laptop)

> 3 dayThe price was a little high, but then it isnt a HHD. I love the light weight & size of these. I think I notice a speed change on boot up, but I dont know if that is the other new parts of my computer doing that. With the 750GB this SSD should outlast me. My old HHD was a 500GB & I didnt even use half of it. Anyway, I just use these as data storage. No OS on them.

> 3 dayI decided to purchase this new Crucial MX300 750GB to replace my aging 250GB Samsung 840 EVO as my Windows 10 boot drive in my desktop computer. I have previously used Crucials 64GB C300 series as well as their 1TB MX200 series SSDs and I always choose them for their performance, reliability, and longevity. Crucial states that this drive should be able to sustain up to 220TB of writes, as it contains Microns latest 3D NAND technology. Its capable of reaching speeds of up to 530MB/sec read and 510MB/sec write, and I was able to get these speeds with Crystal DiskMark. The screenshot I have attached shows how much more of an improvement you get when you enable Momentum Cache, which is similar to Samsungs RAPID mode. This increases the endurance of the SSD by allowing the DRAM to absorb the random writes, as they tend to wear out the NAND cells faster than sequential writes. Crucial recommends that you only enable momentum cache for the SSD if you are in fact using it as your boot drive. This drive would also be ideal for use in laptops because of its incredibly low power draw of 0.075W of power. It certainly may extend your laptops battery life over a traditional 5400rpm or 7200rpm drive, but the difference will likely be subtle. I would say maybe an hour longer? (just guestimating) Still, I am glad to see Crucial finally releasing some software (Crucial Executive Storage Client) to compete with Samsungs excellent Magician software. You must download this from Crucials website if you wish to enable their Momentum Cache for better performance. Its not quite as much of a standalone program as Magician, as it uses your web browser to configure your drive, but it has all of the most important information you need about your SSD, as well as the ability to easily update your firmware. I used it to update the firmware of my 1TB MX200 since the MX300 was already on its latest, being a brand new SSD at the time of this review. If you are looking for a brand new SSD to replace the hard drive in your laptop, or to use as a Windows boot drive, look no further. The 750GB MX300 gives you a bit more bang for your buck than either a 500GB SSD or a 1TB SSD, so it really hits the sweet spot in price per gigabyte, and it should have no problem lasting you for several years of use. You will likely end up upgrading this drive long before it ever actually wears out. My only complaint is that the Acronis True Image HD 2015 software that comes with this SSD would not allow me to resize my Windows partition from my old 250GB drive when I tried to clone it. I also tried using EaseUs Todo Backup as well as Macrium Reflect to no avail. It was likely due the Windows-created 450MB recovery partition that was positioned directly after my main Windows partition. I ended up doing a fresh install, which was probably for the best, as I originally had Windows 7 on my desktop computer before upgrading to Windows 8, 8.1, and then finally Windows 10.

> 3 dayI bought two of these drives on Black Friday and Ive noticed the same new issue in both of my computers that I put these in. Occasionally (it seems to be random), the computer will just completely lock up for 10-15 seconds. It doesnt happen very often, but it happens enough to be noticeable. Probably three times a day at most. It seems that theres some sort of issue with the interface on these drives between the computer and the addressable space. I didnt think it was possible for drive IO interrupts to cause this sort of complete hanging of the operating system, so I switched this drive out with my old one for a week to see if the problem persisted. It didnt, so its definitely caused by this drive. Im guessing its a bug in the firmware that comes on the drive, but Im not sure it can be fixed with an update. Hopefully so. Ill update this if anything changes. Other than that, it works fine, its definitely an upgrade over a disk drive.

> 3 dayI bought this drive to upgrade from a smaller Crucial SSD in a desktop. I ran the Crucial software available on their site and it indicated this would work in my computer before I placed the order.. The computer is home built and the MB and CPU are now 8 years old - but its quad core and still quite fast. I tried twice to use the cloning software, and tried twice to do a fresh install. I probably called Crucial 10 times over a two day period, and they were very helpful. The last individual I spoke to indicated some changes that could possibly make this work, but they would affect how I use the computer, so I elected to return the drive (at his suggestion). Doesnt mean its not a great drive - its just that it may not work in an older system unless you are tech savvy and can determine the work around.. I have easily installed four other Crucial SSDs in my laptop and this same desktop, and they work flawlessly, as does the memory I purchased from Crucial to upgrade that part of the computer.

> 3 dayI work in I.T. and bought this for my laptop. Drive worked fine while it lasted but not very long and in todays world of technology i would expect it to last much longer. After my first true test with an SSD hard drive, i must say it is very disappointing. I hope this is not what i will see in the future. I just bought a Samsung EVO to replace it which i have used in customers computers without incident thus far. I will not be buying Crucial hard drives in the future.

Greater than one weekWonderful drive. Installation and loading windows took me only 1 hour total. For $180, my laptop has a SSD and is like new again. This is not 750GB. This is 749,629,075,454 bytes or 698GB. Reduced 1 star because of the 698 GB vs promised 750GB
