> 24 hourThese are hands down the best watercolors Ive ever used. Ive dried them on a palette and used them straight from the tube, and theyre absolutely gorgeous both ways. Theyre gorgeously saturated, vibrant, and transparent. Not to mention how amazing this color selection is, and at an amazing price for Daniel Smith. You can whip up any color you can dream of with these six tubes. The only problem? Im totally addicted to Daniel Smith now.

> 24 hourDaniel Smith makes the best professional watercolor paint from my experience so far (even best than Winsor & Newton). Very transparent, wonderful vibrant paint. This set has really great selection for a 6 colour palette! Way back before they had a set of these, I bought these same six colours for a minimal palette and used solely them for a few months with great results. You may want to add raw umber, raw sienna and burnt sienna eventually, but this is a wonderful starter. For the price, this might be the ideal step up to a professional grade paint if youve been using student amateur grade so far. Im recommending this to all my students who want to get a professional starter.

> 24 hourThis was the first high quality watercolors I tried. Im more use to the student grade watercolors that come in pans. I found that I much prefer the tubes over the pan and half pan watercolors. Simply put, you get more paint in the tubes than you do in the pans. I like to refill my empty pans with the paint from the tubes. When I bought this set, I was very interested in mixing my own colors and was just starting to learn color theory. This set gives you both a warm and cool value of the prime colors. 2 yellows (one warm, one cool); 2 Reds (one warm, one cool); 2 Blues (one warm, one cool). Some artists like to have one warm and one cool value for each prime. Others believe you should just use Magenta, Cyan, and Yellow as you can get any value from those three prime colors. I lean more to the later group after my own studies but your experiments may differ. Regardless, its all about learning and having fun, while creating works that move and inspire--this watercolor set helps you do that. I found the pigments to be of substantial saturation and mixing my own colors was smooth. I would recommend this primary color set to anyone interested in making the leap into mixing their own colors and looking to save a few dollars on having to purchase a large range of colors.
