    Wasnt sure which ones to commit to in 15 ml tubes, so I ordered this one at very good price. Must say, the best color of all is the Rhodonite which is a hot pink or magenta and is supposed to not fade if exposed to light compared to the other pink pigments which usually do. Jadeite is also interesting, dark green with some dark sediment, but can probably be achieved with other color mixes, not sure. Amethyst is a little sparkly actually but not in a mica powdery way, very subtle, and a muted purple. Hematite is a lot like Lunar Black. I have them both and cant really see the difference, but lunar black is cheaper. The others are very nice, but the three stood out for me.

    I was surprised by how small these tubes were but their size IS put in the description so this isn’t a negative comment. They’re the size of my pinky but they hold enough to fill my pans fill with plenty leftover in my tube. The colors are vibrant and activate easily in the pan I put them in.

    This is a great value for money set of watercolours. I usually buy these separately but this is a great set of warm and cool primary colours that can be mixed into a huge variery of colours, ideal for travelling which this set is intended for, the tubes are only 5ml but the paints are very pigmented and a tiny amount goes a very long way, the tubes are made from sturdy metal with a little screw cap. I highly recommend Daniel smith paints, these really are the best quality paints you can buy.

    I do not do reviews often and regular but sometimes, when products deserve recognition I do post them. These colors are very bright and it shows. They blend and mix very good and have an excellent pigment consistency, they do not “mud” after drying. Sadly, when I receive them they were all out of the box and apparently the weight of other products in which they were send in, put too much pressure and the tubes came looking used and squeezed. But that’s something that happens but the little I could use from whatever amount was squeeze out and on the neck of the tubes was enough to see them on paper. I am amazed and will tell others to buy them and try them. Very pleased with the product, the package... well it happens ;) The combinations are truly spectacular. Great product...

    These colours are beautiful and highly granulating. I think if I bought them again I would not pour into pans as they don’t activate easily once dried.

    I love these paints. They are perfect for an online class I am taking because there are only 6 colors and come in small tubes. The colors are beautiful, rich, and creamy.

DANIEL SMITH Extra Fine Watercolors - classic watercolors of unsurpassed purity and permanence. The vision in the formulation of DANIEL SMITH watercolors was twofold;

  • First and foremost, to produce watercolors that are the best in lightfastness and permanence.
  • Second, to offer a selection of truly unique colors.

DANIEL SMITH Watercolors are formulated to meet and exceed the highest industry standards for the manufacture of artist’s paints, and every batch made is tested and analyzed for its performance qualities.

DANIEL SMITH is truly the worldwide leader of watercolors for artists with 240+ beautiful colors in the 15ml watercolors,  the most of any manufacturer. Many are traditional colors relied upon by all artists, and there are many “truly unique” colors made only by DANIEL SMITH that have become so important to watercolor artists.

PrimaTek Watercolors are made from minerals, often semi precious minerals, that have been ground into pigments, mixed with gum arabic (the binder) and milled into PrimaTek Watercolors. The first was Lapis Lazuli Genuine in 1998, since then, many more have been added such as Amethyst Genuine, Piemontite Genuine and Serpentine Genuine. Most of these colors have wonderful granulating effects that some artists have called “magical”.

Luminescent Watercolors have special optical effects perfect for subjects that have a sparkle, sheen, or reflective glow like the iridescence of hummingbird feathers or the sheen of metals.

Cadmium Hues, DANIEL SMITH has developed safe and vibrant Cadmium Hues with the density and richness of cadmium colors without the cadmium pigment. Virtually identical in color to their namesakes, they are cleaner in mixtures and much stronger in tints. The working properties – staining power, semi-transparency and excellent lightfastness – are nearly identical to those of the low-soluble cadmium colors DANIEL SMITH previously manufactured.

Some unique colors are created exclusively by DANIEL SMITH like Cascade Green, Green Gold and Moonglow.  DANIEL SMITH also finds unusual pigments to make colors like Mayan Red, Lunar Blue and Enviro-Friendly Red Iron Oxide to provide more choices for artists.  Other colors are from pigments DANIEL SMITH has sourced, often from very specific locations, colors like Burgundy Yellow Ochre, Monte Amiata Natural Sienna and Roasted French Ochre.

DANIEL SMITH Watercolors are a favorite of artists all over the world, from professional artists to the beginning watercolorists because of the beautiful colors, consistent performance and lasting color or lightfastness.

 DANIEL SMITH Watercolors are packed with high quality pigments using pure gum arabic as the binder – no fillers. For each color, DANIEL SMITH selects the perfect grind to yield particle sizes that maximize the qualities inherent in the pigment, balancing maximum pigment load with minimum vehicle content.

DANIEL SMITH offers many ways to experience their Watercolors as well as providing extra creative means for artists with their Watercolor Grounds, Masking Fluid and Walnut Ink.
