> 3 dayI purchased the intro set and the dots; both are good products, and Ive been able to follow several tutorial books and really enjoyed using them. Ive picked up a few other colors here and there, but I decided to treat myself after playing with the dots to the primatek set. I was so excited! Until I discovered (looking for fun color mixes to try with my new paints due to arrive in a few days) that about five months ago it came out that the Primateks have other pigments added besides the one on the label. Im sorry, maybe this was obvious, but as a beginner I trusted this page and the selling points (and the labels). Im not upset about the paints, theyre fine; make your own call there (google primatek controversy, and the owners response, to read for yourself). Im upset I was deceived, led to believe one thing and sold another. I bought this for fun, to try something new, and I could have tried a lot of new for that money! You could say buyer beware (a professional surely knows theres no way such consistency comes from nature) or that I made a beginner mistake, believing an art suppliers promises; I say Im not buying Daniel Smith watercolors anymore. My fun art money will go elsewhere.

> 3 dayI havent tried all the different brands of watercolors, but of the ones I have tried, these are definitely the best! They are rich in pigment and they are very smooth. The one thing I have noticed, and really like about them is that they do not crack or crumble when they have dried in the palette. Hansa Yellow Light is semi-transparent, low staining, Very good lightfastness, no granulation New Gamboge is transparent, low staining, Excellent lightfastness, no granulation Quinacridone Rose is transparent, medium staining, Excellent lightfastness, no granulation Pyrrol Red is semi transparent, medium staining, Excellent lightfastness, no granulation Phthalo Blue is transparent, staining, Excellent lightfastness, no granulation French Ultramarine is transparent, medium staining, Excellent lightfastness, with granulation

Greater than one weekColor is very beautiful and smooth to use. The brown color in this kit is a little tricky to blend.

> 3 dayClear colors that pop off the page with these watercolors. More intense that cheaper brands. We made a color chart using only these 6 primary colors which really showed me how to mix colors. I have a whole new understanding of watercolor.
