Greater than one weekNice looking bookshelf speakers. Sound is exceptional. Would highly recommend for a computer/desktop setup. Highs and mids are fantastic. Not much on lows (which is understandable given the size), need a sub to finish off the presentation. Worth the money. Big fan!

24-11-2024Ive had the Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 for a couple of weeks now. My ears are attached to a 60 plus body and theres unclearly :) been some audio spectrum attenuation. Ive had a Yamaha YAS-107 soundbar connected to my TV for a couple of years so to a certain extent, this is a comparison to the soundbar. The Elacs sound very good in overall comparison, but the soundbar is better with higher frequencies and voice. Its signal processing excels at that. I tried running the TV audio through my Denon AVR-S750H and the Elacs but I easily prefer the soundbar for basic TV watching. Its much cleaner, more spacious sound. If I stream music through the TV and AVR, then the Elacs are much better. I had intentions of setting aside the soundbar and using the AVR with Elacs for both TV and music, but I decided for now to leave the soundbar connected to the TV, and use the AVR for music streaming. I bought a HDMI switch so I can switch back and forth easily between TV/soundbar and TV/AVR/Elacs, or use the AVR/Elacs discretely for music. It seems to be the best solution for me at the moment. I am curious what a good 3.1soundbar sounds like in comparison. All in all, I dont regret the Elac purchase. For their size, they sound very nice.

> 3 dayMan, are these good speakers. Every time I listen to them I find something new to appreciate, even in songs I’ve listened to a thousand times. I use them in a pretty small room (they could handle way more) running off a cheap class d amp and Ifi zen dac. The soundstage is just delightful. You don’t necessarily need it, but if it’s in your budget, add a little sub (I’ve got the 10” from elac) and you’ll have a really fun time.

> 3 dayI purchased these as rear surrounds for a home entertainment system. I have Klipsch Fortes as my front channels and two-channel stereo listening. I received these and my first impression was they do look nicer than the pictures would make you expect, and what you would expect at this price point. Id be proud to have these in any room visually. The binding posts are sturdy and the cabinets feel well made and offer some internal bracing. The grills are the only cheap-feeling part, they dont look bad but are flimsy and have tiny plastic pins to hold them in place, they do stay in place well, albeit being hard to remove. If I was using them as main speakers and wasnt worried about damage I would leave them off as the woofer is attractive and I like the metal grill on the tweeter. I hooked them up to my two-channel amp to listen and was extremely impressed with the sound compared to my Fortes, Now are they in the same league? NO. But dollar to dollar the Elacs play waaayyy above their cost. My wife didnt immediately notice the sound wasnt coming from the Klipschs when she came into the living room and was shocked the sound was coming from these if that says anything. I would be happy to listen to music and HT via these any day. Im not an audio snob and believe that the difference between mid-fi equipment such as Elac Debut and is competitors versus so-called hi-end are pretty minuscule and most of us can be 100% happy with speakers in this price range. I considered several brands in this price range (Klipsch RP500M, Fluance Signature, SVS...), and in full disclosure, I did not order or even get to listen to any of those, and in fairness, Im a believer any would have fit my needs, but I dont have the desire to order any of those to see if there is any room for improvement either.

> 3 dayI eventually ended up buying a 2nd set of these for the office in addition to the living room. Ive been running a pair of 6.2 plus the elac center channel in a 5.1 surround in the living room for a about a year now and was quite impressed with how well they sound for the money. Out of the box they are rather flat in the bass realm, however if you boost the lows a little they will perform surprisingly well for their size. More than enough bass to upset neighbors in an apartment complex without using a subwoofer. There is a noticeable drop off in the very low ends however, as expected from a 6 inch driver. If your expecting to blast SICKO MODE you will be disappointed as half the bass is missing, but what you do get punches quite hard. You will need to add a sub woofer for quality rap and R&B tracks. Movie performance is quite good, with clear audio and the sound moves great across the sound stage. These do perform better if you leave a foot or two behind them and dont push them up against the wall, as well as being a fair distance back about 15 feet from them. I was worried they would not perform well connected to the computer upstairs via an AV receiver and being only 5 or so feet away. They do suffer a little bit being that close, but the upgrade over computer speakers or old bookshelf speakers is well worth it. Also do give these a few hours/days to break in as fresh out of the box they will sound a little weird.

> 3 dayThese speakers sound awesome! Great for a music setup in a small room, with its compact body and big sound. Not too expensive, but doesnt sacrifice quality. Considering getting another pair for surround sound. And remember, cables not included.

> 3 dayThe reviews of these speakers generally tend to rave about them, in particular for their balanced sound and substantially better bass response than youd expect for a speaker this size. The speakers are front-ported, which means the best bass response doesnt require that they be pulled out away from the wall. Im using them as main speakers in a home theater, and this Goldilocks combination of compact size and good frequency response makes them perfect for that purpose. Be warned that the price on these varies quite a bit. I was watching amazon for about a month and saw the price range from $240 up to $279, and I finally got them on sale for $199 (the list price is $329) At the price I paid, they undoubtedly a bargain, but I would have bought them at $240-250 if that was the best price I could find. Seriously, these are very, very good speakers for the price.
