> 3 dayMaybe one of the best values in all of audio. Hooked to a NAD D3020 V2 and use in my home office. Will eventually add a sub but only because I love quality bass. Most will be very happy with these babies on their own. The home office has become a sanctuary.

> 3 dayYeah, I know ... only 4 stars. Ive had several Elacs through here and own the UB52s (keepers I use at my audio workbench). Heres my thing on these: sounds too depressed in the lower mids. Robs the speaker of vocal clarity; especially male vocal. I had this experience with other Elacs. Lovely overall tonality. Great imaging. But that thickness in the low mids drives me crazy. I feel like I am straining to understand a male voice that is speaking. The UB52s are much better. I also compared to Sony SS-CS5 and Fluance Signature. CS5s are fun, musical and pretty clear. The Fluance is similar but more linear, less harsh that the Sony (keepers I think). Just to add to your understanding of my taste Ive had KEFs in here too, and even had the same models in twice (Q-150/350), but sent them back each time. Something edgy about them. Final thought: The Elacs are great and worth a serious listen. Lots of hi-fi in these.

Greater than one weekThese speakers replaced my much loved Jaycar bookshelf units which suddenly gave up the ghost. The overall response of the speakers is quite adequate with nice clean bass. Sometimes at moderate levels the midrange may sound a little muddy- but it maybe its my old ears! Notwithstanding, Im very pleased with my purchase and would recommend purchasing them from Amazon.

Greater than one weekI purchased these ELAC Debut 2.0 B5.2 Bookshelf Speakers over a month ago, so there has been time for them to break in. I started them with an old Pioneer VSX-502 that died soon after I purchased these speakers. The sound with that receiver was good but really didnt give credence to the speakers. I soon upgraded (updated) to the Onkyo TX-SR373 5.2 receiver. The speakers came to life and became quite musical. I am no audiophile, but the speakers sound clear and crisp. My only reference has been my old Polk RT55i/RT35i speakers which were smooth, warm and detailed. The ELACs are quite detailed in the highs. They are clean and not as forgiving with MP3 or Spotify normal download in the lack of detail. They are also great in their lower frequency extension for 5.25 speakers. Cant measure how low, but they dont struggle with lower midbass. It was a gamble purchasing them without hearing them. They are worth the money. One complaint though, they are quite large for bookshelf application. The cabinet shape and finish is quite bland. I suppose the sound quality makes up for these short comings.

> 3 dayI purchased these as rear surrounds for a home entertainment system. I have Klipsch Fortes as my front channels and two-channel stereo listening. I received these and my first impression was they do look nicer than the pictures would make you expect, and what you would expect at this price point. Id be proud to have these in any room visually. The binding posts are sturdy and the cabinets feel well made and offer some internal bracing. The grills are the only cheap-feeling part, they dont look bad but are flimsy and have tiny plastic pins to hold them in place, they do stay in place well, albeit being hard to remove. If I was using them as main speakers and wasnt worried about damage I would leave them off as the woofer is attractive and I like the metal grill on the tweeter. I hooked them up to my two-channel amp to listen and was extremely impressed with the sound compared to my Fortes, Now are they in the same league? NO. But dollar to dollar the Elacs play waaayyy above their cost. My wife didnt immediately notice the sound wasnt coming from the Klipschs when she came into the living room and was shocked the sound was coming from these if that says anything. I would be happy to listen to music and HT via these any day. Im not an audio snob and believe that the difference between mid-fi equipment such as Elac Debut and is competitors versus so-called hi-end are pretty minuscule and most of us can be 100% happy with speakers in this price range. I considered several brands in this price range (Klipsch RP500M, Fluance Signature, SVS...), and in full disclosure, I did not order or even get to listen to any of those, and in fairness, Im a believer any would have fit my needs, but I dont have the desire to order any of those to see if there is any room for improvement either.
