Sometimes it sucks everything up, sometimes it doesnt. Kind of a pain to use.

Wipe down the inside of the barrel with lithium grease, the thick kind. Removes all the friction between the gasket and barrel and the plunger SNAPS up when the button is pressed.

I was a little skeptical about spending the money to buy this but I had heard a lot of great things about this and I needed something to better remove solder and parts from pcbs, and my goodness this does not dissapoint. This not only works AMAZINGLY, but it also feels nice, is satisfying to use, and it looks well machined and built. After using it for a bit I finally got the hang of it and I found it works best when you put the tip against the soldering tip hearing the solder through hole, and then suck the solder up to create as much of a seal as you can while keeping the solder liquid. Sometimes the solder on some boards hardens quickly and adding a little more solder to it can help it take longer to cool and it can help it get sucked up better. It was also handy that the product came with the extra tubing for the tip (although I havent had to use it yet). The tubing hasnt had any issues with high heat, solder sticking to it, or anything else, and because of it being rubbery and flexible it makes it really good for creating a seal when sucking up solder.

Ive purchased other generic solder suckers that are very common and cheaper. The Engineer SS-02 solder sucker is so much better than the cheap generic models. Although pricier, its worth the money since it performs much better. I highly recommend this product.

I was impressed beyond my expectations. Top notch materials, excellent manufacturing, great design. Definitely worth having in your toolbox, and quite likely this is the only one youd need, or want to use. I found no issues with its functionality. Very rarely would a piece of sucked solder need to be pulled out of the tip by hand. A couple of clicks on the plunger do the job most of the time. The only minor drawback is that it is a tad shorter for my hand, and I have to twist my thumb to push on the piston release button. Excellent in every other respect.

This is one of the best suckers Ive owned. The material on this thing is all metal, no plastic! yes, it cost $27 which is a lot but my god the Japanese can make one of the best products. When I got the product and feel it, my god one of the best. Again the only downside is the price but again, all metal and no plastic and it one of the best suckers I owned, yes Ill pay that much!
