I used this on an old telescope mount that had been left in the weather as a lawn ornament for many years. I purchased it knowing that I would have to do a lot of restoration on mount. I soaked the parts and left them overnight and into the next day. I would say about 75% of the rust came off. The rest I will probably have to some sanding on or even just use the evaporust with a green scouring pad. I felt it did a good job and would use this product again.

This stuff will rip rust right off and smash it in the ground. Your dad have a crappy pair of pliers he favors over brand new stuff and you always end up having to use those crappy, Rusty pliers? Throw those suckers in this for a day or two and they will be like new. Spray some fluid film on them too to create a superior rust barrier.

This product is amazing! I have been helping my son restore a 1970 GTO. He gave me a basket full of small rusted parts. Added a gallon of the product, dropped in the parts. After a day turned all the parts and let them soak another day. At the end of day two ALL of the rust was gone. Cut a piece of Cheese Cloth to use as a filter and poured the Evapo-Rust back in the gallon container. A week or so later got some additional parts use the product again, same great results.

This stuff works really well. I tried it on some rusty nails that I left out a little too long in the rain and humidity of Florida it literally ate the rust away. Left the nails submerged for 12 hrs. periodically agitating them and the rust just fell off. They still have a bit of a rusty looking color/slighty tarnished but they are free from that flakey rust. For not having to do anything but cover them in the solution and come back half a day later Ill take that any day of the week, zero elbow grease required.

The stuff works great, just need to have some patience with it. The black coating at the end of the process is normal as part of the chemical process its performing. You can mitigate the black coating by removing the item from the solution and rinsing it every few hours. You can reuse the solution until the solution itself turns black.

It works as described. I used this to remove rust from a bunch of old tools I inherited and it did a great job. I poured enough in a plastic pan to cover the tools and let them sit 24 hours. The rust was gone. On most tools, like vise grips, screwdrivers, pliers, the chrome was not damaged by rust and they look like new. On some other tools the rust had eaten so badly into the metal that, although the rust was gone, black metal remained. However, 80% of the tools I cleaned look nearly new. There is no acidic oder, but after a few hours you can smell the iron in the solution, so I would not recommend using this in a house because of the odor. Note, there isnt really any odor out of the bottle; the oder comes from the rust that is removed. I used it in my garage. The solution can be used multiple times. Mine finally got so dark with iron, that I decided it was time to pour a new batch. I poured the used Evapo-Rust on some grass in my lawn (as the manufacturer says can be done) and there were no ill effects on the grass. I cleaned about two dozen tools, and used less than 1/2 gallon of this product.

I sometime use electrolysis or jellies but this seems to work just fine for me as the others. Is simple and not corrosive to your skin but still rinse it off after done. It can take a few hours longer but its really convenient.

This product does remove rust when fully submerged, but it takes a long time. I had to soak some old bolts for about 2 days to remove the vast majority of rust. Once the fluid takes on rust, it is basically useless, so I dont think it is fully reusable like they claim. If you have small parts you can fully submerge, I would recommend it, but for on-the-car stuff, this isnt going to be the best option.
