Great little game for kids. Happy with purchase.

We taught our 5 yr old daughter the game 31 right before buying this game. It just so happens that this is backwards 31 but with blind cards in your hand and power cards to let you peek, swap, or draw 2. Too complicated? Not at all! It just brings the game to a whole new level with strategy and memory. Im pretty addicted to it myself! Could use it at an grown-up party with chips or money thrown in the pot when you lose a hand, just for a twist on the normal euchre or poker party.

My grandkids and I love this game! We added “Oh, you dirty rat.” Whenever one is flipped.

I began playing Rat-A-Tat-Cat with my daughter when she turned four, and it became her favorite game instantly. Any kids who can count fron zero to nine can play this game successfully and enjoyably. Its quick to finish (our longest game ever took less than 10 minutes, purely because we were both stubbornly trying to get a ZERO score!). The cards are durable and small enough for kids to handle easily. And since you only use four cards per hand, and they go face DOWN on the table for the entire game, no struggles with tiny hands holding masses of cards! The luck factor means that anyone has the same chance of winning. Were still playing this quite often, six years later, and my daughter still regularly beats me!

Grandkids loved this game. They had played it elsewhere and really wanted their own deck.

As a parent and teacher, I have played this with kids aged 4-12. Its probably best for 6-10.

We’ve played this game for years and now I buy it as a gift for others.

It is one of our favorites with the kids. We have tried adding cards to the suggested number of 4 per hand as the kids get older.

It"s never too early to develop a good poker face. With Rat-a-Tat Cat, a poker face is just one of the skills players need to perfect. As in poker, luck, skill, strategy, and intuition each play a part. Players are dealt four cards, which are kept face- down, except for a quick peek at two of them. Each player in turn pulls a card from the draw pile to replace one of the four. Memory is important, as the object is to end with the lowest score, and players must keep track of the values on their four cards. "Peek," "Swap," and "Draw Two" Power cards turn up occasionally, allowing players to maneuver and strategize further. Delightfully witty pictures of cats (the good guys--low points) and rats (bad guys--high points) illustrate each of the 54 cards. Young card sharks will develop a sense of timing and greater ease with numbers, and can begin to grasp the concept of probability. Winner of Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Best Toy Award and the 1996 Mensa Best New Mind Game. For 2 to 6 players. --Emilie Coulter
