Genie GSTB-R STB-BL Replacement Safety Beams, Black, 2 Pack, Black, one size (GSTB-R)

I was a little worried that it wouldn’t work. I have two (double wires) which cross and combine with each other one one side, and on the other, one (double) wire. Our old ones wouldn’t close if it was sunny. These are working well so far. No problems. I would recommend placing the sensors low-six inches or so from the ground. I placed them 24 in from the ground initially and then reconsidered. I would never want the door closing on a child, cat, small dog.

My six year-old garage door opener refused to close one day. Looking at the beam sensors, I noticed the sensor with the red LED was flashing weakly and sporadically, like it was dying. Consulting my Genie operators manual, I learned that if your Genie Safe-T-Beam system doesnt work, you can still close your garage door by pressing and holding down the wall button until the door is completely closed (obviously, use caution when closing your garage door this way). When the Safe-T-Beam Replacement Kit arrived, I realized I could use the existing mounting brackets, which were already attached to the sides of my garage door opening and aligned correctly. After disconnecting the wires to the old sensors, I simply pulled them off the brackets, snapped the new sensors onto the brackets, connected the wires to the new sensors (polarity doesnt matter) and I was done. My garage door worked like new. I dont know exactly how much one of my local garage-door service companies would have charged me to come out and do this work for me, but my total cost of $28 and about 20 minutes time seems like a bargain!

These are excellent Safety Beams, but make sure you need them before you order them. The Safety Beams were not our problem.

FIVE STARS because I was able to fix the sunlight problem with this replacement from AMAZON. Easy to do. More difficult to figure out that this was the problem. I see from other reviews that many others have had the same problem with their Genie opener. Perhaps the defective units could be returned to Genie for installation into a location where the sun dosent shine.

Replaced old worn-out rusted ones and these fit the bill. Work flawlessly now for a couple of months.
