Great for guitar frets. They do not shed and crumble or pack down densely. 1 pad lasts longer than I expected. Especially compared to steel. I found the natural oxidation of guitar strings was minimized. Less evident on my fingers. Not cheap in price but not cheap in performance. Overall I am pleased.

Bronze is softer than steel, and bronze wool is softer than steel wool, with the added benefit that it does not rust. My friend uses this fine brass wool wrapped around a small round brass brush with bore cleaner to clean his shotgun barrel after going to the range. It removes the lumps of lead that build up without scratching the barrel.

Obviously, there is not much to review here. This is the bronze version of steel wool. I purchased it to aid in cleaning deposits from the chambers and barrels of revolvers. The metal is quite softer than the steel it impacts, and so will do no damage to it. Visually the product looks very consistent, but it is a simple product for use as a mild abrasive on hard surfaces.

Bought this because I have an old 22 cal. revolver that someone gave me years ago that I had just tossed in a drawer....Found it one day, and it was all covered with surface rust...Not the deep pitting kind, just heavy outside rust. Got a lot of advise on how to get the rust off, but because of expense, I decided to do the job myself......All of the steel wool I have ever used was a royal pain in the butt...fine metal shavings everywhere, doesnt hold up, and of course the horrible rust it gets after you leave it in your tool box. Got this item and it was just what I needed...Took my time rubbing the metal parts of the revolver, and didnt get any shavings or metal dust as I would have with the steel wool.....It also seems to hold up better that the steel version......When I was done, the revolver looked like a different weapon......All the rust gone, and no metal residue left on it and inside the mechanism. Looked around everywhere to try to purchase it locally (wanted it in a hurry), but couldnt find it....In conclusion, there is no comaprison between this Bronze Wool, and regular steel wool. I live in Florida near the water, and EVERYTHING made of metal rusts....When I would use regular steel wool on anything, it left a mess and I would have to throw it away afterwards, because if it got wet it would turn into a blob of rust....Not with this bronze wool. It is expensive, but more than worth the price.....I can actually rinse it off from use, and it can be used again....In the long run, the cost is comparable because you arent throwing the pad out after every use. My only complaint is that I couldnt get different sizes. Oh, and by the way, you dont get the little metal slivers in your fingers like you get with the steel wool.

this is good stuff but I should have bought a bit coarser wool. But this is ok.

This is great stuff for cleaning old rubber parts when restoring old cars. Regular steel wool rusts, so any residual wool embedded in the rubber would rust and stain the rubber after cleaning. Bronze wool works great (as does stainless steel wool), but you cant buy it locally anymore because most retailers wont stock it because the crack heads use it to stuff their pipes...

These pads are a good way to avoid the fine rust specks that can be left behind by regular steel wool.

Use this in place of steel wool, and enjoy not having AS MUCH dusting. The best part, is using this on glass to remove light water spotting. Light pressure, a bit of good glass cleaner, and some elbow grease leaves a brilliant gloss on glass and really removes the crap left there by your neighbors crappy sprinkler system. I made the move to bronze, because steel wool if not cleaned off completely will eventually cause rust spots to appear. Go to a car lot and look around the windows on used cars that have white/silver paint, you see those little rust specks? Thats from steel wool when they detail the car. This doesnt leave those behind.

I like the bronze fine wool pads. I dont have to worry about them rusting.

This is exactly the product for which I was looking. I shall be putting it to use in a somewhat unorthodox manner; I teach a self-contained geometry class to high school girls who have learning disabilities. One of the things I have noticed is that they have trouble translating what they learn in the subject to the real world, so I designed a class in which we are applying what we are learning by building miniature furniture in detail, using everything we learn in geometry to design and build what I teach. Aside from being a doctoral candidate in Special Education, Im a master cabinetmaker, so I know how to teach carpentry. The steel wool is to be used to rub down the items we build after giving it several coats of varnish in order to achieve a very smooth and professional finish. This steel wool is absolutely the perfect quality for that purpose and will not make uneven scratches in the finish of the wood surface on which we are presently working. It will help to smooth the wood perfectly to receive its final coats of varnish. As I said, a bit of an unorthodox use of the product, but thats why I bought it, and its quality is just that for which I was looking. If you are into woodworking, youll love this bronze wool.
