> 3 dayGreat for scouring, rust removal, and polishing wood. Less aggressive than steel wool, wont scratch blued guns (if oil is used), and doesnt leave behind little rusting fibers of steel in your fine woodworking!

22-11-2024Purchased to remove light rust from collectable firearms it has done other jobs as well. Used with some gun oil I was able to dramatically improve the barrel appearance on two rifles one being made in 1902. I was able to use some elbow grease without destroying the original bluing. The other was only 30 yo it was a premium gun when made with high gloss bluing. My gal noticed the improvement and friends were impressed. Encouraged by good results I tackled and new Marlin rifle with a laminated wood stock. Starting with the barrel it got a light buffung with oil and turned out nice. Next the stock was worked with some of this dry. Starting cautiously it ended up getting a serious rubbing. The wood aquired a nice smooth finish with a slight gloss. All the fine scratches and small specks were removed with some work. This stuff does shed a lot of small particles especially when used dry and really trashed my gun mat. The particles getting stuck in the nap. My gal now uses it on her jewelry.

Greater than one weekThis is good quality bronze wool. It has some advantages over fine steel wool: Less inclined to splinter, more durable, and does not rust. I bought it for cleaning the inside of my 120-gallon glass turtle tank, figuring the bronze would be less inclined to scratch the glass. (Not that steel would scratch the glass, but bronze is softer in that respect.) It works very well for that task. Ive gotten about half of the inside of the tank free of algae with just one small puff of bronze wool. So I expect my supply to last a very long time unless I take on a big wood refinishing product. The pricing was strange. I was able to save money by buying multiple small packages. Buyer beware.

> 3 dayThis bronze wool worked like a champ along with some Cleaner-Lubricant-Protectant at getting surface rust off an old rifle. My previous review got rejected for mentioning the hit your wallet will take for getting the product to your door. Yes, I am avoiding buzz words that will cause another rejection. :>)

> 3 dayObviously, there is not much to review here. This is the bronze version of steel wool. I purchased it to aid in cleaning deposits from the chambers and barrels of revolvers. The metal is quite softer than the steel it impacts, and so will do no damage to it. Visually the product looks very consistent, but it is a simple product for use as a mild abrasive on hard surfaces.

Greater than one weekWorks very well for polishing metal, but I would suggest using a dust mask when using it. I found that it actually did shed, leaving behind tons of tiny fibers, and you really dont want to breathe them. They caused my asthma to flair up, and an overall inflammatory reaction. Be careful when using.

Greater than one weekWorked perfectly to turn a piece of flat wood into a masterpiece. Took every little ding out of the wood with not very much effort. You can sand wood various ways, but often have a few marks that you just can not eliminate. This product will give a very perfect finish on the wood. Removes fine scratches. Sure it has its limits. You can not fix everything.

Greater than one weekThis is exactly the product for which I was looking. I shall be putting it to use in a somewhat unorthodox manner; I teach a self-contained geometry class to high school girls who have learning disabilities. One of the things I have noticed is that they have trouble translating what they learn in the subject to the real world, so I designed a class in which we are applying what we are learning by building miniature furniture in detail, using everything we learn in geometry to design and build what I teach. Aside from being a doctoral candidate in Special Education, Im a master cabinetmaker, so I know how to teach carpentry. The steel wool is to be used to rub down the items we build after giving it several coats of varnish in order to achieve a very smooth and professional finish. This steel wool is absolutely the perfect quality for that purpose and will not make uneven scratches in the finish of the wood surface on which we are presently working. It will help to smooth the wood perfectly to receive its final coats of varnish. As I said, a bit of an unorthodox use of the product, but thats why I bought it, and its quality is just that for which I was looking. If you are into woodworking, youll love this bronze wool.
