> 3 daySo what I do like about this camera is the size of the display and the zoom feature is great. I do with the buttons were slightly backlit- this would be so helpful at night. The battery life is dismal - we just bought another charging cable so we can avoid having to take our existing one from room to room. I appreciate the safety aspect with it being closed loop.

> 3 dayWe bought this monitor to replace a wifi one when we had our 2nd child. It has a very long range, especially with the antenna up. The optional zoom lens is nice if you want a closer look all the time, whereas the zoom feature works alright, but gets a little pixelated. It worked great for a little over a year. Then we started having an issue when we would push the OK button to switch between cameras and to the SCAN function. The monitor would shut off and when we turned it back on you only had sound, the screen was either black or had the Infant Optics logo. Turning it off and back on didnt help. The only way to get the picture back was to delete the cameras from the monitor and add them back on. I reached out to Infant Optics and they gave me some recommendations to try. I tried them and it only helped for a few days. They said that even though I was past my 1 year warranty that they would send me a replacement monitor, as long as I would send the old one back. That was a very pleasant surprise! We received the new monitor and set everything up and it has been working great so far!

> 3 dayWhen we had our first baby two years ago, we received the DXR-8 as a baby shower gift and have been using it every night since. As we are expecting our second child, we were debating between getting a second webcam or trying a different monitoring system. We happened to find out that Infant Optics had an upgraded product and decided to give it a try since we really liked using and were familiar with the previous version. Pros: - Night vision is so much better with the Pro due to the higher resolution. I can make out features through the crib railings when it was blurrier before. - Larger screen that allows me view the whole crib now (webcam about 8 feet away from the crib). With the previous version, I would have to move the webcam left and right since my child has a tendency to roll around the crib throughout the night. -Menu options are almost the same as the previous version. The options have a small detailed description about what it does instead of having to find the owners manual to see what each options are. The Pro has dedicated volume and brightness buttons which is convenient in the middle of the night. -There is a noise canceling option which has been working for us so far. We normally play white noise (via google mini within a feet of the webcam) in my childs room and even though it says not to use it at the same time, I can still hear when he cries out and not hear the static from the white noise with the option turned off. Cons: - Our monitor unit arrived with pieces of plastic underneath the screen, but we have been in contact with Infant Optics and are getting a replacement sent. - The monitor charger is no longer a micro USB but rather a barrel jack type power supply. It was convenient to have micro USB as the charger for plugging in the monitor as that type of input is common. Overall, I would definitely recommend this product for those that dont want to have an internet based/network baby monitoring system. I will update how it works with two webcams when Baby#2 arrives.

> 3 dayI LOVE the 8pro camera and monitor. Its everything we need with great sound and video quality. Its been 8 months since my baby was born and we have used the cam for only about 4 months of it. Today, only 4 months in the monitor stopped turning on. I have ordered an infant optics certified battery replacement to see if that is the issue - hoping that fixes it because we love this camera!

> 3 dayThis is a pretty solid monitor. I like that it’s always running and there is no delay. I also like that it’s got a great range in the house and the battery life is good. The volume and ability to talk to the baby work really well. One of my complaints, and why this isn’t 5 stars are: -the lenses it come with aren’t really my taste. For $11 you can get the wide lens, which is way better. It’s not a deal breaker but for $200 for a baby monitor, it should come with all 3 available lenses. -Also, it’s a little annoying that the picture is always in black and white. When there is adequate lighting, the picture flips over to color. I understand that it’s the night vision mode at work, but that’s sort of defeats the purpose of having an HD full color baby monitor to me. Most people put their baby to bed in a dark, quiet room. So the monitor will never be in color when you are checking in on the baby. They need to use a better camera.

> 3 dayThe quality is amazing and honestly so happy to be able to buy additional cameras to add to it and the scan is perfect to scan through EACH different camera over and over again. I have recommended it to EVERYONE I know that is having a baby! Also something happened to my camera not sure what and I emailed the company and they answered so quick and handled it in the best way and solved my problem within a week!

> 3 dayThe camera is good so far. Resolution is good, havent had any range issues. The Active Noise Rejection cuts down the white noise machine significantly but not completely (which is fine, they never claimed it would work 100% with noise machines). One problem Ive noticed is the audio level indicator takes quite a bit of noise before it registers at all, which is a bummer since wed hoped to use it in audio-only mode with the volume down just using the meter. My guess is this is related to the ANR and would be more sensitive if it werent trying to cut out a noise machine, but I havent tested it. Not sure on the battery life yet, we mostly keep it plugged in. So overall, great monitor so far. Unfortunately, after you register the warranty they coax you HARD with a free second camera (normally $100) into joining some loyalty club, which involves writing a review wherever you bought it. Its not 100% clear if youd get the camera if you dont give them five stars, but they make it super clear they REALLY want you to give them five stars. I think this is a good enough product that the reviews would speak for themselves without this sketchy solicitation. They seem to already have a good reputation so I dont know who thought this was a good idea, but it was disappointing and guts my trust in the company from the get-go.

> 3 dayQuick response, remote control of camera is a great feature, great resolution. A glaring minus: charging port broke in exactly one year. Seem like a common issue. They quickly replaced the monitor though, so excellent customer service.

> 3 dayThis is by far the BEST baby monitor we’ve used. The picture is so clear, and it isn’t automatically zoomed in close where it’s hard to position it correctly (our Motorola one did this and it was so frustrating). The two-way speaker is pretty instant and the sound is clear without static or pause. We love it!!!

> 3 dayI will be comparing my experiences with the DXR-8 Pro and tell you why I switched over from the Nanit Pro system. I have been using the DXR-8 Pro almost a month now. Hopefully my review helps other parents, especially the first time parents who are still figuring things out like we were. I found this monitor after unpleasantly using the nanit pro system for maybe two months before it had the audacity to crap out the first time my infant got sick with a cough. Just poof, won’t connect via Bluetooth anymore. We frustratingly tried all the troubleshooting in the universe for nanit pro. I even reached out to useless customer service who was zero help before finally unplugging the nanit pro, tossing it in a drawer and deleting the app from my phone. “We hates it forever!!” I will say this once for whoever is reading this, the nanit pro system is expensive garbage!! I wasted baby shower gift cards to purchase the $300 monitor system that is stupidly useless without a simple Bluetooth connection. Then, surprise: you have to shell out more money after the first year for a mandatory subscription just to safely monitor your baby, which is rarely mentioned until you’re already at home setting up the camera/app. Ok, rant over. Now, after painstakingly researching, finding out baby monitors could be hacked into, I found the DXR-8 Pro: it’s simple, no nonsense, no hacking, no WiFi outages, no app to run down your cell battery, no failed Bluetooth connections, no sneakily saving your data to the cloud for perverts.. *takes huge sigh of relief* Just plug in camera, make sure monitor is charged and have the peace of mind that you can clearly and safely monitor your child. The picture quality, both day and night vision, is just as clear as the nanit pro. What’s even better, there is no annoying, obnoxiously audible, clicking sound when switching between the two. The menu pulls up on the left side of the monitor screen and the background is transparent so you can still see what your child is doing even while adjusting your settings. Easy access to volume and brightness buttons on top of monitor, plus the on/off button doubles as a sleep mode button. The arrow buttons on the DXR-8 Pro monitor allow you to adjust the camera view up and down or rotate to either side. However, the nanit pro is fixed to the wall and you have to mount it high enough to get a full view of the crib, which is a minimum of 6ft. Then if you’re short like me, it becomes super fun in the midst of troubleshooting/resetting the camera when you can barely reach it behind the crib. You will never have that issue with DXR-8 Pro. I appreciate ALL of these small details after using the nanit pro app. With DXR-8 Pro I have the flexibility to leave my monitor screen on with or without sleep mode, I can choose after how long I would like the monitor to go into sleep mode, or never go into sleep mode. Then if my son makes noise, the light bar plus volume settings will still alert me. The DXR-8 Pro monitor is as big as my iPhone pro max and has a kickstand that is as wide as the length of the monitor itself so I don’t have to worry about it tipping over on my nightstand while sleepily adjusting the volume at night. I do however worry that I might drop the monitor, so I also use the kickstand as a handle to carry while walking from room to room.. as parents do, multitasking, with full hands. Unlike another monitor I purchased then returned before finding the DXR-8 Pro, the charging cables are labeled. They are very specific as to which cable goes with each device.. the monitor cable says monitor, the camera cable says camera. Very straight forward, no guess work or worry if I’m going to damage it straight out of the box. In the box, I also received an additional charging cable that is for a usb portable battery. I wish the wide angle lens also came with everything but it’s not absolutely necessary for me to have it. The lens attachment that did come in the box is for additional zoom but the standard lens already zooms quite far so I don’t see the need for it. The signal bars stay all the way up, I’ve never had an issue with glitches even while standing outside the front of my house. I’ve never had to use the antenna, I actually forgot the monitor even had one because I leave it folded down. Another plus side, there’s no lagging!! With the nanit pro, my kid would cry in real time then a couple seconds later it would come through the nanit pro app. For the supposed technology the nanit has, that’s ridiculous. With the DXR-8 Pro I have experienced zero lagging issues so far. A couple minor downsides which held me back from giving the DXR-8 Pro the full five stars: battery life is atrocious, I have to leave the monitor plugged in at night or the monitor will certainly die. Secondly, there’s no volume control for when talking to your child through the monitor. Unless I’m just not seeing it. I tested the talk button in my usual tone, I could hear myself from almost two rooms away and I felt like my son thought I was screaming at him.. I swear I wasn’t haha. Overall, I would 10/10 recommend the DXR-8 Pro baby monitor above others, especially above nanit pro, and I would absolutely purchase the DXR-8 Pro again if I had to.
