SUMMARY: I have two Inkbird temperature controllers and they are very good products for the money. My biggest comment about Inkbird is this: The features and variations of the different inkbird models are hard to make sense of, especially in the amazon listings. There is better info online, but its still a chore to make sense of what each model does and does not do, and which ones have alarms and which have different timed settings, etc. They have different models with different options and its worth your time to make sure you get what you need. Also, I noticed that there are some new models (its early 2019 as I write this) that look better than their original controllers. They probably work the same, but have been styled to look like they belong in a living room instead of a greenhouse. I just bought a 306 to use as a fail-safe for an aquarium heater. I already have a 308S for another aquarium. I prefer the 308 to the 306 for a couple reasons: 1 - the 306 has a slight buzzing and occasionally clicks when switching on or off (the 308S is silent and seems to function better in general). 2 - the 306 seems to go for 10 minutes or more without changing the temperature reading (when I know the temperature is changing), then will quickly update itself several times over a few seconds, then not change for 10-15 minutes again. This is not really a big problem for my use but the 308S reading seems to always adjust quite frequently and I was expecting the 306 to be similar. The 306 model has a feature that I have not set up but is worth noting...the different settings based on time are a super feature if you are using it for reptiles. Overall I am impressed by what the Inkbird products can do for what they cost. The instructions are a little hard to follow but they are trying to pack a lot of settings into a few buttons, and setting multiple temperature points and ranges of variation can be complicated. Add in different settings for different times, and high and low alarms on the 308, and I think given the complexity of what they do, the buttons and instructions are pretty good.

J. Sweeney did a great write up of this product, and what it can do. You can only change the set-point in whole degrees, and you cannot replace the temperature probe. The differential temp setting is also in whole degrees. The differential temp is the difference between the temp you want the power to be switched off, and the lower temp you want the power to be switched on. So switch off at 80, have a differential temp of 2, and the power will then switch back on at 78. The instructions are ok, but could be more clear. I am using this as a fail safe on an aquarium heater. Heaters tend to fail on, so this will remove power when the Set-Point is reached, which will be my max temp.

If you want a time controlled unit, this is the one. However I was wanting one that controlled both heat mats at the same time with 1 control. This one turns on heat mat 1, and then turns on heat mat 2 in accordence with time settings. It alternates the heating between the two heat mats on a 24 hour clock. So either 1 is running when TR0 is set and the 2nd is only running if TR1 is set up. It works good and alternates between the 2 mats pretty good. However.....Not exactlywhat I was looking for, And it helps alot to carefully read through ALL the instructions. Much better after understand how it works.

Very user friendly. Currently using it as a temp controller for the attic fan. Set the temp to 100 degrees and the fan has been cooling the attic. Electricity bill has dropped significantly.

Excellent addition to any aquarium. Especially for multiple heater systems. I set both heaters to 5 degrees over desired temp. Controller maintains within 1 degree, normally withing 0.5 degrees of desired temp. Super easy to read LED display. Easy set at F or C readings. I have mine mounted to the wall beside the tank so I can track temps at a glance.

Easy to set up, big red numbers, I can just walk by and see the exact temp on my tank. I have it plugged into my Apex for redundancy. Must have for any aquarium keeper! Thank you inkbird!

Very accurate and compact. A little complicated to set up but look up youtube vids and youll do fine

I had to look up the manual for this product online in order to properly figure out how to set the temp. The little pamphlet that comes with it isnt as helpful as the actual online manual. But once I got it up and running, no complaints!

All I can say is good things about this product very easy to set up and all of you wanna make sure ur tanks are running safe from a heater failure make sure to look into one to these bad boys
