> 24 hourThe lip seal ring at the pump shaft broke after 1/2 a year active service. (was installed for two years) Changed the ring for a new one from a hardware store, replaced the mild steel spring with a rubber o-ring. Works!

> 24 hourOwning a boat is often about fixing things, especially pumps. Purchased this pump to replace one of the 2 pumps on my boat. Doesnt get any easier than this install. And the twist and lock is awesome. What I really appreciate is the fact that the fittings havent changed. My boat is 28 years old and it seated perfectly. Wow. Im buying a second for the other head. Pump is so good I just bought a second one August 2020 for the second head.

> 24 hourOther reviewers are correct, the new locking feature sure is neat! Gee golly, you could buy this whole pump kit on amazon for only 20 bucks more than a rebuild kit.. what a deal! Admittedly, this kit is pretty much a plug and play replacement for the Jabsco heads and got my immediate attention. I bought mine here on amazon and ran out to the boat, installed it in 15 minutes (wear rubber gloves, youll thank me later) and was smiling every time I flushed, and the stuff actually went away - my old pump seized to, ahem, do that anymore. Now, we arent big fat people who are constantly eating greasy foods and using the boat bathroom all day. Heck, we only overnight on the boat 1 night a week and for that night we might even be at the boat club where there are nice bathrooms in the clubhouse we will use instead of the boat. The rest of the week, the boat sits happily at my seawall enjoying its week long rest before the next weekend. My point is - we dont use/abuse the Jabsco head in any way, shape or form. Heck, we even flush white vinegar down it once in a while as recommended by Jabsco. What? Yup. Cleans the joker valve. See, Im full of good tips. I bought West Marine head lube and also use that maybe once a month too. I mean, I truly baby this thing because when you need it, you really need it to work. Especially when you have the in-laws on board or the boss, etc... Back to the Jabsco replacement pump kit for the 29090 series. I used it for 3 months and now the handle on dry flush pushes back at me like its got back pressure and water is coming out of the metal rod piston assembly!!! What the heck?? Of course, its past Amazons return policy, which is just my luck. I did call Jabsco (now a different company) and they sent me a new one under their warranty policy. I do not have much confidence in this unit anymore. My original Jabsco pump assembly lasted 16 years. This one lasted 3 months. A little perspective for you. Caveat Emptor.

> 24 hourI have a 1998 REGAL Commodore 258 with a Manual Toilet Model 29090-0000. The unit is plumbed through a saltwater seacock and is above the water line. The toilet is about 8-10 feet from the seacock. The problem was that the pump handle would not go up and down ... possible corrosion issues. Get some old towels out to absorb any liquids that might seep out. The first thing I did was unscrew the 6 screws holding the pump to the base (4) and elbo (2). They came right out. I used a long craftsman 12 screw driver. Thanks to a tip I read on another review. The unit comes with 2 important rubber seal/checkvalve type gaskets. No other parts were needed. The second thing I did was with an electric screwdriver loosened the stainless steel clamps. Third was disconnecting the existing hoses from the pump. Since the pump was now movable, is was easier to get the hoses in a position to twist and pull them off. Once the old pump was set aside, I poured 1 liter of water down the toilet water source input hose that is connected to the seacock to make sure there was a clear path to the bottom of the boat. The boat was up on a lift. Water flowed out at a steady rate. Next reconnect everything, and pour 2 liters into toilet bowl for a prime. Lowered boat into the saltwater, pumped about 6-8 times and water began filling in the bowl. Ran about 4-5 gallons through the system checking for leaks. Works great. Nice to have a functioning head!

> 24 hourAfter only a couple months of sporadic use there was an internal failure that allowed the whole cylinder the handle is mounted in to rotate. It still works if you are careful about positioning the handle but you can move it to other positions where it just churns.

> 24 hourI had read other comments about just buying a complete assembly versus the individual parts. For the price I paid on Amazon I totally agree. I have a 1988 Catalina 34 with the older model pump head assembly and replacing it took less than 10 minutes (pretty good for any boat project). Basically just need to remove and then re-fasten the four screws that hold the pump assembly to the base and the hose clamps at the discharge elbow. I had recently replaced my joker valve a few months earlier so I actually just swapped the discharge elbows rather than removing the discharge hose from the elbow. Im keeping the new joker valve that came with the assembly as a future spare. I also put down a puppy training pad prior to starting to help soak up any liquids while doing the swap. The pads also work great when changing your oil or fuel filters to prevent fluids from dripping onto the floor and simplifying clean-up. Amazing how much better the head works with the new assembly.
