Other reviewers are correct, the new locking feature sure is neat! Gee golly, you could buy this whole pump kit on amazon for only 20 bucks more than a rebuild kit.. what a deal! Admittedly, this kit is pretty much a plug and play replacement for the Jabsco heads and got my immediate attention. I bought mine here on amazon and ran out to the boat, installed it in 15 minutes (wear rubber gloves, youll thank me later) and was smiling every time I flushed, and the stuff actually went away - my old pump seized to, ahem, do that anymore. Now, we arent big fat people who are constantly eating greasy foods and using the boat bathroom all day. Heck, we only overnight on the boat 1 night a week and for that night we might even be at the boat club where there are nice bathrooms in the clubhouse we will use instead of the boat. The rest of the week, the boat sits happily at my seawall enjoying its week long rest before the next weekend. My point is - we dont use/abuse the Jabsco head in any way, shape or form. Heck, we even flush white vinegar down it once in a while as recommended by Jabsco. What? Yup. Cleans the joker valve. See, Im full of good tips. I bought West Marine head lube and also use that maybe once a month too. I mean, I truly baby this thing because when you need it, you really need it to work. Especially when you have the in-laws on board or the boss, etc... Back to the Jabsco replacement pump kit for the 29090 series. I used it for 3 months and now the handle on dry flush pushes back at me like its got back pressure and water is coming out of the metal rod piston assembly!!! What the heck?? Of course, its past Amazons return policy, which is just my luck. I did call Jabsco (now a different company) and they sent me a new one under their warranty policy. I do not have much confidence in this unit anymore. My original Jabsco pump assembly lasted 16 years. This one lasted 3 months. A little perspective for you. Caveat Emptor.

Great price, less expensive than a repair kit and much quicker to repair boat toilet

I was expecting to pay a lot more to fix my boat toilet problems. It was such a good deal I bought 2 of these kits to have one as a spare for future use. It took me a little over an hour and a half to remove and replace the new kit. My available work space was very tight. It would take less if you have lots of room to work in.

so far so good, swapped out the old pump assembly with just removing the base and a few hoses , and replacing the flap valve on the bottom. The pipe also has the joker valve in it as well. So the entire pump is complete , took me about 15 to 20 min max , probably a lot less. The result is the pump works excellent . Definitely a great replacement.

The very first trip on the ocean with my girl and her teenage daughter was last weekend when lo and behold, the pump froze. After snaking everything back to the joker A blockage inside of the pump prior to the joker valve is my unhappy guess judging by the firm pneumatic resistance. We use the head very rarely and my partner and I are marine savvy enough not to horse this thing, flush with fluids and treatments etc. So no question in my mind its not served its term. I was a month inside the warranty and Jabsco said the following: The joker valve is a serviceable item so it needs to be inspected on a regular basis to prevent this from happening. I dont know how many of you folks out there are deciding to pop your joker valve out regularly on your precious days off but nope. More than annually will never occur to me and Ill never do it willingly. AND MY PREVIOUS PUMP WORKED FINE FOR FIVE YEARS.

    Greater than one week

I ordered this replacement assembly to help a friend who was a little boater impaired; Although it was tempting to go ahead and buy a whole new replacement toilet (at a little over twice the price), we decided that because everything else on his head was fine, it wold be simpler, less expensive, and better to just replace the leaking pump. Was a quick repair and made his head like new. Since this assembly contains almost all of the working components of the head, I recommend it highly, and you do not have to go through the messy part if you replace the entire head!

Save your fingers and frustration. A long (10+) phillips screwdriver would make instillation in tight spaces much easier and reduce cursing. An extra slotted flange screw is supplied free, but probably will not be needed. Be sure to keep your 4 existing (different) base screws, you need to reuse them

This item is great if you have an older Jabsco MSD (head) and cant figure out which rebuild kit to choose. It installs quickly and easily, though none of the paperwork in the box tells you how. (It is all about new head installation.) Go to their website and watch the videos. It DOES come with a joker valve (one review said it does not), but for some reason, only one mounting screw. ( Not sure why one... 4 are needed, but being stainless going into plastic, your 4 old ones will work fine.) Big surprise (not) - this part is $30 higher at your local boat parts store... Job not even as messy as I feared. I made sure the MSD was flushed with clean (lake) water, and darn sure holding tank was pumped out. Maybe 1/2 cup of water came out of supply hoses. Not sure these Jabsco heads ever work great, but if you have to deal with one, this is a fairly painless way to go about it. Now my head is the latest model!

Perfect replacement pump four our toilet in our boat. Very easy to install. One thing to be aware of... it did not come with a joker valve installed in the output fitting. I didnt know this until after installing the pump when I noticed I was getting back fill from the holding tank. I guess you have to buy this separately, which I did and now all works fine.
